Stephenson J.B. Stephenson, 78, of Amarillo died Saturday, March 27, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Roy Wheeler and the Rev. Mark Zimmerman, minister of pastoral care, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Stephenson was born in Roby on Sept. 8, 1925, to Jesse Byron and Artie Stephenson. He grew up in the Lubbock area before serving in the Army in 1944. He fought in World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany for nine months. He moved to Amarillo in 1951 and married Carole Laster Hamby on Feb. 15, 1963. He owned and operated several restaurants before becoming a Realtor in 1976. He and Carole owned the Red Carpet Stephenson Real Estate franchise from 1978 to 1988. He and Carole celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last year. He was a devout member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church for many years and belonged to the Fisherman's Sunday school class. He was a Mason and a Shriner and was active in the Khiva Shrine Temple as a jester, a duffer, a greeter and was a member of the Drum Corp. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Carl, Jennings, and James Stephenson. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Don Hamby and wife, Suzanne, of Amarillo, Tom Hamby and wife, Rochelle, of Austin and Jerry Hamby and wife, Susan, of Houston; and five grandchildren, Don W. Hamby and Hilary Hamby, both of Amarillo, Garret Hamby of Abilene and Tyler and Kayla Hamby, both of Lubbock. The family suggests memorials be to the Khiva Travel Fund for Crippled Children, in care of the Khiva Temple, P.O. Box 328, Amarillo, TX 79105 or the Paramount Terrace Christian Church Building Fund, 4000 Mays Ave., Amarillo, TX 79109. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Amarillo Globe-News, March 29, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Dee "Bill" Mixon William Dee "Bill" Mixon, 84, of Amarillo died Sunday, March 28, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Southwest Church of Christ with Brent Adams and Lynn Camp officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Mixon was born in Kenedy and was a member of Southwest Church of Christ. He married Jonnie Wisdom in 1942 in Amarillo. He worked for Pioneer for 30 years and moved to Amarillo in 1984 after living in Fritch for 37 years. He served in World War II in the Pacific and received the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tommy Mixon of El Centro, Calif., and David Mixon of Amarillo; three sisters, Willie Ross, Ethleen Nord and Corrine Fryburger, all of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, March 29, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Charles David Dammier Charles David Dammier, 83, of Amarillo died Saturday, March 27, 2004. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Dammier was born and raised in Randall County to David and Jesse Dammier. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Jane Daily in Ashland, Kan., in 1947. He retired from Southwestern Public Service, now Xcel Energy, as manager of accounting services after 38 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of Henry Brown Sunday school class. He was an avid fisherman and was proud to have lived in Amarillo his entire life. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 56 years; four daughters, Shannon Crow of Temple, Charlene Worst and husband, Mike, of Arlington, Marilyn Kapral of Dallas and Kristal Cotton and husband, Randy, of Midland; four sisters, Charlotte King, Pauline Gephart and Sue Sisk, all of Amarillo, and Joanne Barker of Dallas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. O'Daniel, 66, of Amarillo died Saturday, March 27, 2004. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Llano East Cemetery with the Rev. Robert E. Field officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. O'Daniel was born and raised in Claude. He served in the Navy from 1957 to 1961 when he moved to Amarillo. He married Waketta Fern "Kitty" on Dec. 13, 1972. He worked for Trailways Bus Lines for 35 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his wife on April 19, 1998. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Hosler and Roy O'Daniel, both of Amarillo; two daughters, Glenna Simmons and Sharon Schmidt, both of Amarillo; a brother, R.E. O'Daniel of Phoenix; three sisters, Lucille Wagner Blair of Amarillo, Marie Radcliff of Pampa and Barbara Leidholt of Mile City, Mont.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Andrew Housley minister of First Assembly of God and Claude Hendricks, of First Assembly of God of Olney, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Zybach Cemetery in Wheeler County by Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Thomas was born May 15, 1957, in Wheeler to E.O. and Alice Helton Kelly. She received her early education at the Allison School in Allison where she graduated in 1975. She graduated from Evangel College in Springfield, Mo., in 1981 where she was a member of the women's basketball team. On Jan. 3, 1992, she married Steven Thomas in Pampa. She taught school for 24 years, including in Briscoe, on the Navajo Reservation in Gallup, N.M., Baton Rouge, La., Bovina, Marlin and Dalhart, where she was the ESL and dyslexia coordinator at Allyn Finch Intermediate School for the last six years. She had a special love for the children she taught. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Dalhart where she was very active as a musician, board member and children's church leader. She was also a member of the Zeta Chi chapter of Zeta Nu Upsilon Sorority. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jason Adam Thomas; her father; and a nephew, Kirby Johnson. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Bethany Ann Thomas of Dalhart; her mother, Alice Kelly of Briscoe; three sisters Elizabeth Meers and husband, Lewis, of Pampa, Diann Rose and husband, Glenn, of Canyon and Janice McCloy and husband, Allen, of Morse; four nieces, Ginger Meers of Springfield, Kelly Rose of Dallas, Savannah Rose of Canyon and Elanor Crawford of Fort Worth; a nephew, Jared Johnson of Lubbock; her in-laws, Frank and Jeanne Thomas of Fort Worth; and a sister-in-law, Deborah Thomas of Fort Worth. Mrs. Barron was a member of Iglesia United Pentecostal Church of Perryton. She was a homemaker. Survivors include five sons, Jesus Barron, Celso Barron, and Armando Barron, all of Mexico, Lorenzo Barron of Eloy, Ariz., and Adolfo Barron of Amarillo; four daughters, Eulalia Ojeda of Perryton, Lidia Barron of Guymon, Okla., Ofelia Barron of Mexico and Ramona Barron of Amarillo; four brothers, Jesus Grado and Gellermo Grado, both of Mexico, and Jose Grado and Eldifonso Grado, both of El Paso; three sisters, Genoveba Grado, Francisca Grado and Maria De Los Angeles, all of Mexico; 24 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. "Bill" Glover CEE VEE - W.L. "Bill" Glover, 92, died Saturday, March 27, 2004, in Paducah. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Cee Vee Cemetery with Talmadge Porter officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Glover married Tennie Crain on Nov. 17, 1934, in Estelline. He moved to Cee Vee a number of years ago from California and had recently moved to Paducah. Elliott HAPPY - Willa B. Elliott, 86, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Stribling and the Rev. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon and Happy, 1702 Fifth Ave. Mrs. Elliott was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Miami, Ariz., to William and Helen Bennett. She married Simon Elliott on Dec. 30, 1939, and moved to Happy in January 1940, where she farmed and ranched with her husband. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and established the Order of the Rainbow for Girls in Happy. She was a member of the Women's Study Club and also a member of United Methodist Church. She was active in both the church and the community. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Elliott in 1957; her parents; and a brother, Jack Bennett in 2001. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Willa Jane McManigal and husband, Jim, of Happy; two granddaughters, Christy Johnson and husband, Clint, of Happy and Jana McManigal of Dallas; a great-granddaughter, Bailey Johnson of Happy; and a great-grandson, Teagen Johnson of Happy. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Christi Jarrett and Stephanie Geel, both of Muleshoe; two brothers, Larry Neinast and Keith Neinast, both of Yuma, Ariz.; a sister, Shannon Jenkins of Hereford; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Boise City Christian Church with Tom Milbern officiating. Burial will be in Kenton Cemetery in Kenton by Cimarron Mortuary. Mrs. Stevens married Adolph Stevens on Nov. 18, 1967, in Boise City. They lived for many years on their ranch near Kenton. Survivors include a son, Matt Roberts of Boise City; three grandchildren; and two aunts. The family suggests memorials be to donor's choice in care of the mortuary.
