Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with Monsignor Rex Nicholl of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Survivors include his parents; three brothers, Jacob Floyd and Richard Floyd, both of Amarillo, and Luis Vara of Dumas; three sisters, Letisia Vara of Dumas, and Cielo Vara and Priscilla Vara, both of Amarillo; and his grandparents, Richard Floyd of Amarillo, Steve and Cindy Verdoorn and Elia Dominguez, all of Dumas, and Jesse A. Vara of San Antonio. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with Monsignor Joseph Tash of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Wagoner was born in Fort Worth on Nov. 13, 1900. She was from early-day ranch families who helped make Texas history. She was educated in California and made her home there until her marriage to Art L. Wagoner (oil and cattleman) in 1928. Mr. Wagoner died in 1964. Mrs. Wagoner was a member of Amarillo Club, Amarillo Art Alliance, Amarillo Symphony Guild, "TEXAS," KACV- TV, St. Anthony's Auxiliary and Olivia's Angels. Survivors include her cousins, Giles F. Allison of Newport Beach, Calif., John F. Allison of Southern California, Helen Lyons of Dallas, James Good of Fort Scott, Kan., Mrs. Phil Campbell of Claude, Betsy Nimmo of Amarillo and Lucille Good of Quanah. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Osage St. Ms. Hendrix was born and raised in Amarillo. She lived in South Carolina for 15 years and moved back to Amarillo from Easley, S.C., in 1994. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Ryals, in 1999. Survivors include two daughters, Lacey Hendrix of Oak Island, N.C., and Meranda Hendrix of Pickens, S.C.; a son, Larry Talbott of Amarillo; her mother, Kathy Ryals of Amarillo; her grandmother, Louise McKinney of Fritch; three sisters, Terri Ryals and Jackie Ryals, both of Amarillo, and Teresa Dannels of Rogers, Ark.; a brother, Joe Ryals of Amarillo; and three grandsons, Damon Talbott, D.J. Survivors include a daughter, Lavenia Annette Otts of Amarillo; three sons, Walter F. Crosley III of Holland, Iowa, Lloyd Crosley of Alvarado and Alan Crosley of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Harris was a retired LPN who loved cooking, gardening and crafts. She was an active leader of Lipscomb County Home Extension and the United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Riley; four sons, Jerald Harris of Oklahoma City, Kale Harris of Arnett, Okla., Randy Harris of Belton and Monte Harris of Oceanside, Calif.; a brother, Luke Cook of Laverne, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Kelly was born April 6, 1911, in Erick, Okla. He was a motel owner and operator for many years. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a son, Pat Kelly of Parker, Ariz.; and a grandson. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Mrs. McEwan was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Waurika, Okla. She had been a Dumas resident since 1950. Survivors include three sons, Leroy McEwan of Palestine and Danny McEwan and Matt McEwan, both of Dumas; a daughter, Mary Rindahl of Dumas; a sister, Marie Price of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and nine great- great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Carmichael- Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Rogers was a veteran of the Army, serving during World War II and the Korean conflict. He worked for Cabot Corp. for 32 years, retiring in 1984. Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Tidwell of Gainesville and Debby Rogers of Mesquite; and three granddaughters. Smith TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Vallarie P. Smith, 86, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, in Farwell, Texas. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery with Wes Stewart, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born Sept. 26, 1917, in Sunset, Texas. She later became a beautician and owned and operated her own shop in Tucumcari. Many years later, she moved to Amarillo, Texas, where she operated a beauty shop for a number of years before moving back to Tucumcari. Survivors include two daughters, Terrye Womble of Carlsbad and Debbie Patton of House; a sister, Margie Walker of Tucumcari; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wright was born July 6, 1916, near Red Star. She married Jesse C. Wright on April 20, 1935, in Arnett. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Beavin of Cheyenne and Dolores Blundell of Perryton, Texas; a son, J. Doyle Wright of Fort Smith, Ark.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Buddy Allen of Tacoma, Wash. Amarillo Globe-News, April 6, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guitarist for '60s band, record executive dies The Associated Press LOS ANGELES - Paul Atkinson, 58, who played guitar in the British invasion band The Zombies and later became a successful music industry executive who signed such acts as ABBA, died Thursday. Born in Cuffley, England, Atkinson had lived in Los Angeles for 20 years. He started his music career with The Zombies, which had hits in the 1960s with "She's Not There," "Tell Her No" and "Time of the Season." Later, he went on to work as an artists and repertoire executive, signing acts including ABBA, Bruce Hornsby, Mr. Mister, Michael Penn, Judas Priest and Patty Smyth. In January, Atkinson received the Recording Academy's President's Merit Award at a tribute and benefit concert in his honor at the House of Blues in Los Angeles.
