Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holt Cemetery with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Williamson owned and operated several restaurants and taverns throughout the area. Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Eakins of Borger, Delinda Piatt of Japan and Kim Rex of Spearman; a son, Larry Scroggs of Fritch; three brothers, L.M. "Sonny" Patterson Jr., John Patterson and Pat Patterson, all of Spearman; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, 707 S. "Tunk" Vermillion Sr. BORGER - C.A. "Tunk" Vermillion Sr., 81, died Saturday, April 3, 2004. Mr. Vermillion was born Nov. 15, 1922, in Mountain View, Okla. He was in maintenance for Phillips Petroleum Co. Survivors include two sons, C.A. Vermillion Jr. of Amarillo and John E. Vermillion of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Kayla C. Tanner of Salt Lake City; two brothers, Jimmy H. Vermillion and Jerry B. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Bond was a homemaker and a member of Agape Club at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, John W. Bond of Odessa and A. Frank Bond of Oakland, Tenn.; three daughters, Virginia Yell of Stinnett, Martha Nolty of Fritch and Nancy Walker of Lubbock; a sister, Mary Virginia of California; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery in Plainview by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Chavez married Jessie Chavez Sr. on May 7, 1982, in Plainview. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Martinez of Tulia; two sons, Tony Solis and Jessie Chavez, both of Plainview; a brother, Rolando Martinez of Lubbock; two sisters, Alma Sepulveda and Maria M. Portillo, both of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, April 7, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leroy Stone TURKEY - Leroy Stone, 84, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in Lubbock. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mr. Stone was born June 4, 1919, in Childress County. He had been a longtime resident of Turkey before moving to Lubbock in 1995. He married Colleen Young on Nov. 9, 1940, in Silverton. He served in the Army during World War II and worked as a funeral director at Turkey for a number of years. He had served on Turkey City Council and was mayor of Turkey for two terms. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Lubbock and was a former member of Turkey Lions Club. He was preceded in death by a son, Clyde Stone in 1978; two brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jay D. Stone of Lubbock; a brother, Ken Stone of Idaho; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Viewing and visitation will be this afternoon and until service time Thursday at the church. Edwards of Amarillo died Monday, April 5, 2004. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. James L. Collins, pastor, and the Rev. Michael DeVaughn, pastor of Carter Chapel CME Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford- Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Ms. Edwards was born in Quanah and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. She attended Frederick Douglas Elementary, and Carver junior and senior high school. She was a longtime member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she had served as secretary, treasurer and vice president of the Women's Mission Society, and as president of the Senior Usher and Culinary Committee. She also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Wonderful View No. 125. She was a member of United Citizens Forum, Hilltop Senior Citizens Forum and Hilltop Senior Citizens Association. She had worked as a cook, domestic housekeeper and janitorial supervisor. The family wishes to thank the special family of Don Harrington Cancer Center, Dr. Gwozdz, Dr. Easley and the loving care of BSA Hospice, Olivia's Angels. She was preceded in death by her father, Shelton White in 1957; and her mother, Luegene White in 1982. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. John Eastern Orthodox Church with the Rev. Photius Bouton officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Yazbek was born in Beirut, Lebanon. He came to the United States and joined the Air Force in 1949. He married Rachael Jones in Amarillo in 1952. He retired and was a hall of fame employee for Sears from 1955 to 1985. He was a Master Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1969. Survivors include a daughter, Salwa Nina Makeham of Australia; two sons, Farajallah Michael Yazbek of Amarillo and George Nicolas Yazbek of Kingman, Ariz.; two sisters, Margo Mansour and Salwa Kareh, both of Beirut; two brothers, Jad Michael Yazbek of Beirut and Nawaf Michael Yazbek of Broumana, Lebanon; two grandchildren, Charles Arthur Ford III and Nicholas Joel Yazbek, both of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Donna Johnston and Pastor Kevin Deckard officiating. Private family burial will be in Gageby Cemetery in Gageby by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Stahlecker was born in Canadian and was a graduate of Briscoe High School in 1956. She graduated from West Texas State University in 1966. She taught school for Amarillo Independent School District and Canyon Independent School District for 28 years. She married Winston D. Stahlecker on Jan. 1, 1999, in Canyon. Karen loved her family very much and wished to be remembered as a person who tried to live a respectful life, a peacemaker and someone who instilled inspiration in the students that she taught. She fought the disease of cancer with all of her ability and had an unquestionable faith in God. Survivors include her husband of Canyon; two sons, Tracy Hays and David Hays, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Becky Wood of Bryan; a stepson, Dale Stahlecker of Canyon; and 10 grandchildren. Mr. Coffey was born March 30, 1922, in Rawls, Texas. He married Thelma Skeen on July 3, 1943, in Clovis. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Carol Taylor of Beaumont, Texas, Kaye McGee of Claude, Texas, Becky Weatherly of Lubbock, Texas, and Kellianne Harper of Arlington, Texas; four brothers, Leroy Coffey of Melrose, Leon Coffey and O.B.
