Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Presbyterian Church of Hereford with the Rev. John Bethard and Dr. Stacy Conner officiating. Burial will be in private. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Barrett was born Dec. 5, 1929, in Claude, the daughter of G.D. and Del Caldwell. She graduated from Claude High School as the salutatorian in 1947. Mrs. Barrett graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from West Texas State University in 1950. In 1952, she graduated with honors and received her master's degree in sociology from West Texas State University. On Sept. 6, 1952, she married Frank Barrett in the Joseph Hill Memorial Chapel on the West Texas State University campus. She was very active throughout her life with her husband, Frank, in farming and the cattle business. Mrs. Barrett was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Alpha Chi Honor Society and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hereford. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Caldwell. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Bruce Barrett and wife, Cindy, of Muleshoe and Steven Barrett of Dallas; a daughter, Nancy Purcell of Dallas; a sister, Gloria Viersen of Rancho San Margarita, Calif.; three grandchildren, James Barrett and Megan Barrett, both of College Station, and Jason Purcell of Dallas. Mrs. Murrow was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She married Ralph Lorraine Murrow on Nov. 26, 1938, in Garnett, Kan. Survivors include two sons, Gary Murrow of Borger and Terry Murrow of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Benham, a Childress County sheriff, was born Oct. 28, 1918, in Tell. He and his wife, Daisy, had been married 65 years. Survivors include his wife; a son, J.E. Mrs. Reynolds was born April 26, 1934, to Curtis Henry and Audrey Voyles Henry in Lefors. She married Carroll Reynolds in 1956 in Dimmitt. She worked as a telephone operator for many years and also worked for Ace Hardware in Wellington. She was involved with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Jean was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; a daughter, Debra Jean Reynolds in 1970; a brother; and a sister. Survivors include two sisters, Gwen Lyons of Amarillo and Pat Barton and husband, Bill, of Howardwick; three brothers-in-law, Buster Reynolds of Altus, Okla., Arlin Reynolds of Olustee, Okla., and Larry Reynolds of Mangum, Okla.; a special friend, Pam Sherwood of Wellington; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Hereford with the Rev. Terry Cosby and the Rev. Harold Harrison officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Levelland City Cemetery in Levelland by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford. Mr. Souter was born March 23, 1935, in Wild Horse, Okla., the son of Martel and Kathryn Souter. He graduated from Eastern New Mexico State University with a bachelor's degree in education and received his master's degree in administration from Texas Tech University. Mr. Souter had been the school superintendent for several school districts for more than 30 years. He was a veteran, having served in the Army during the Korean conflict. Mr. Souter was a former member of Hereford Rotary Club, a city councilman in Mosquero, N.M., a life member of Texas State Teachers Association and a deacon of First Baptist Church in Hereford. He married Terri Carter July 13, 1989, in Canyon. Survivors include his wife; a son, Brian Laing of Amarillo; four daughters, Shana Granger of Iraan, Dana Pannell of Plainview, Laynie Johnson of Rowlett and Jill Rains of Hereford; a sister, Saleta Duff of Levelland; a niece, Saleta Ann Thomas of Crowley; and six grandchildren. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Hilltop Senior Citizens and was a Veteran's Center volunteer. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Julius P. Sanders and Ross W. Harvey; a son, Robert E. Dickson; and a granddaughter, Yolanda Dickson. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Ms. Wilmeth was born in Hartley on April 4, 1913, to John and Sarah McMillen. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1930 and then attended the University of Texas, where she received her bachelor's degree in home economics. Ms. Wilmeth was a Rainbow Girl, a member of Order of the Eastern Star and also a past Queen of The Daughters of the Nile. She loved to play bridge and travel. Ms. Wilmeth was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford E. "Sarge" Wilmeth in 1989. Survivors include two nieces, Ruth Simmers of Midland and Margaret Brisbin of San Antonio; two nephews, Preston Boyd of Amarillo and Phillip Boyd of Dumas; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She worked as a dietician at Georgia Manor Nursing Home. She married Hugh Duncan in 1949 in Texico, N.M. Mrs. Duncan was a member of Central Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa, Texas, with the Rev. Lynn Garrett, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Amarillo, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Military rites will be by Army personnel from Fort Hood, Texas. Mr. McPhillips was born March 31, 1925, in Evansville, Ind., to Raymond Walter and Edith Robins McPhillips Sr. He was reared and received his education in Evansville and Hobbs, N.M. Mr. McPhillips entered the Army on April 3, 1945, and was honorably discharged on May 9, 1946. He married Margaret Faye Delver on Jan. 17, 1947, in Pampa. He was employed at the post office in Pampa for more than 30 years, serving as postmaster before his retirement in 1971. Mr. and Mrs. McPhillips moved to Bartlesville in 1999 to be near family. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 9, 2002; his parents; a brother, Jimmy McPhillips; and three sisters, Edith Payne, Winnie Evers and his twin, Margaret Ann McPhillips. Mrs. Hix was born March 15, 1922, in Canyon to Lorenzo and Ildagerte Dale Wirt, one of the pioneering families of Canyon. She was a graduate of Canyon High School and attended West Texas State University. She married L.L. Hix in October 1946. She worked for a few years at the Randall County Courthouse in the county clerk's office. Her hobbies included painting, sewing, reading, working puzzles and playing bridge. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Canyon. She was also a member of Esther McCrary Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and was past Matron and a 50-year member of Canyon City Chapter No. 105, Order of the Eastern Star. Her wisdom and selfless ways will be deeply missed by her family and friends, all of whom cherished knowing her. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977; a sister, Mary Catherine Wirt Hough in 1996; and two brothers, Lorenzo "Skeeter" Wirt in 1995 and Wayne V. Wirt in 2002. Survivors include a sister, Martha Quillen Harmon and husband, Bill, of Lubbock; a brother, John Louis Quillen and wife, Barbara, of Oakdale, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
