Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Murray Gossett of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Paxton was born in Tulia and was a lifetime resident of Amarillo. She graduated from the University of Colorado on a music scholarship and was an accomplished violinist. She was very interested in current events and politics and was very patriotic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Paxton in 2001; and three brothers, Lawrence Tucker, David Tucker and Gildroy Tucker. Survivors include a daughter, Temple Dockery of Holly Lake Ranch, and her daughters, Michele Dockery and Julie Dockery, both of McKinney; a son William Allen Paxton and wife, Mariya, and their daughter, Helen Paxton, all of Arlington; a nephew, Matt Tucker of Dallas; a niece, Val Goodman of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; two great-nieces, Jordan Elizabeth Goodman and Hayley Goodman, both of Pagosa Springs; and a sister-in-law, Sue Tucker of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at The Chapel with the Rev. Darl Badgerow officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Naylor was born Oct. 16, 1947, in Clovis. She married John A. Naylor on Nov. 12, 1968, in Clovis. Survivors include her husband; two sons, John V. Naylor and Andrew Naylor, both of Portales; a daughter, Luceresia Ritchie of Nampa, Idaho; a brother, Felix Armijo of Clovis; four sisters, Gloria Regalado of Clovis, Cordie Vargas of Farwell, Texas, and June Sandoval and Irene Maes, both of Amarillo, Texas; and two grandchildren. Roark, 65, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, in Lubbock, Texas. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Kingswood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brad Reeves and the Rev. Glen Harlin officiating. Burial will be in Texico Cemetery by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Roark was born Oct. 24, 1938, in Clovis. He married Quineil Elliott on April 5, 1958, in Muleshoe, Texas. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rob K. Roark of Clovis and Mike Roark of Midland, Texas; a daughter, Rhonda Pierce of Clovis; a brother, Charles Roark of Amarillo, Texas; his mother, Louise Roark of Friona, Texas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Muffley Funeral Home Chapel with his grandson, Jason Reeves, officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Mr. Labranche was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Lowell, Mass. He married Mary Rondeau on Nov. 4, 1944, in Lowell. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gail Reeves of Rio Rancho and Leslie Scroggins of Clovis; a brother, George Labranche of Lowell; a sister, Pauline of Lowell; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Johnson Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Henson officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Mrs. Collins was born March 22, 1913, in St. Joe. She and her husband, Jim, farmed and ranched in the Childress area. Survivors include two daughters, Druena Lock of Fort Worth and Doris Collins of Dallas; a son, Raylan Collins of Lampasas; three sisters; and one sister- in-law. Amarillo Globe-News, April 17, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Earl Smith DALHART - Earl Smith, 61, died Thursday, April 15, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church with Jeff Taylor, pastor of Central United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. James Earl Smith was born Nov. 16, 1942, in Shidler, Okla., to Everett and Ruby (Jackson) Smith. Earl was raised in Phillips and graduated from Phillips High School in 1961. He then attended and graduated from Panhandle State University, Goodwell, Okla., in 1966. He played football, ran track and played baseball at PSU. On June 28, 1963, he married Jerry Sue Turner in Beaver, Okla., and they moved to Dalhart in 1971. He attended Northwestern State in Alva, Okla., where he received his master's degree in 1973. Earl taught school in Dalhart from 1971 until he retired in February of 2004. In those 33 years Coach Smith started the track and baseball programs in the Dalhart Independent School System. Earl coached several district champion track teams as well as a baseball and football district championships. Earl was an active member of Central United Methodist Church and a past member of the Texas High School Coaches Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and will always be remembered for his devotion to his students and his career. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Chris Smith and wife, Renvy, of Granbury, and Jeff Smith and wife, Jennifer, of Merkel; two brothers, Allen Smith of Fritch and Terry Smith of Texas Creek, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Derek and Drew Smith. The family suggests memorials be to the Earl Smith Scholarship Fund, in care of First State Bank, 322 Denver Ave., Dalhart, TX 79022. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home Ivey Chapel with the Rev. Vergil Ichtertz, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Clark was born July 2, 1908, in Quail. She grew up in Quail and attended schools there. On Feb. 7, 1925, she married Jack Clark in Clarendon. They moved to Dimmitt in 1955 from Petersburg. Mrs. Clark was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist church. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 8, 1989. Survivors include a son, Jackie Clark and wife Sandra of Dimmitt; a brother, Jack Peggram of Burleson; a granddaughter, Jerri Ka Hadley and husband Mickey of Canyon; and two great-grandsons, Michael and Matthew Hadley, both of Canyon. Her paintings and photographs gave inspiration and joy to many. Survivors include her mother, Ruth Boles of McLean; her stepmother, Zelma Kirk of Baytown; a son, Michael Howard of Reidsville, Ga.; a daughter, Ashley Howard of Amarillo; and three granddaughters. Mr. Quigley was born May 30, 1918, in Texas County, Okla. He married Elma Mae Coyer on Aug. 4, 1940. Mr. Minns was born Dec. 29, 1918, in Cimarron County. He married Morene Lowery on Dec. 26, 1941 in Columbus, Ga. Survivors include his wife; a son, Harry J. Minns of Goodwell; two daughters, Donna Edge of Tuttle and Cathy Sue Minns of Philadelphia; a sister, Kat Padget of Perryton; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
