Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Christian Heritage Church with Gary Burd, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Lawlis was a longtime Amarillo resident, and was a box route distributor for the Amarillo Globe-News for more than 20 years. She was a member of Christian Heritage Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Kennedy in 1937; her stepfather, Bob Bronner; a son, Michael West in 1994; a daughter, Rhonda June Lawlis-Burd in 1994; and a sister, Judy Warren in 1995. Survivors include her husband, Sid; two daughters, Lisa Chedester and husband, Steven, of Amarillo and Judy Kitchens and husband, Eddie, of Dumas; two sons, Craig Lawlis and wife, Eunice, of Amarillo and Skeeter West and wife, Betsy, of Miramar, Fla.; a son-in-law, Keith Burd and wife, Renee, of Amarillo; two brothers, Boyd Patterson and wife, Lenora, of League City and James Hinson and wife, Mary, of Santa Fe, Texas; her mother, Loraine Bronner of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, April 22, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mary Louise Loyd Mary Louise Loyd, 87, of Amarillo died Monday, April 19, 2004. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Wesley United Methodist Church of Borger with the Rev. John Rakestraw officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Borger by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Loyd was born to Roland and Bessie Loyd on June 26, 1916. She graduated from McMurry College with honors. She married Emory William Loyd on Sept. 17, 1945. Before marriage, Mrs. Loyd was a school teacher in West Texas and worked in a bank in Los Angeles. Later she worked on the church staffs of Wesley Methodist Church in Borger and Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in Amarillo, both as a Christian educator and as church secretary. She later was employed by the Amarillo Public Library, where she rose to be director of group services and was responsible for the library's extensive program of adult discussion groups. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Amarillo. She will be remembered for her wit and wisdom, her love of books and learning, her care for her family and friends and her Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962; her parents; and three brothers, Kenneth Loyd, Lewis R. Loyd and David Loyd. Survivors include four sons, Roger and wife, Leta, of Durham, N.C., Douglas and fiancee, Josie Pipkin, of Charlotteville, Va., Robert and wife, Linda, of League City and Richard and wife, Mary, of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Margaret Burns of Borger, Geneva Lindsey of Oklahoma City and Alice Kirk of Redondo Beach, Calif.; a brother, Donald Loyd of Borger; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The body will be available for viewing from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church in Borger. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Carroll was born in Atoka, Okla., and was raised in the Clarendon area. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1942. She married W.J. Carroll in 1938 in Clarendon. He passed away in 1980. She married Raymond Biggs in 1993 and he passed away in 2000. She was a homemaker as well as a member of the Red Hat Society. Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Riddell and husband, Gaylean, of Childress; four sons, Gordie Carroll and wife, Sudie, and Kenneth Carroll and wife, Carol, all of Amarillo, Bob Carroll and wife, Beegee, of Shreveport, La., and Ric Carroll of Houston; a sister, Thelma Jones of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Wellington. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Dunn was born in Burkburnett and had lived in Amarillo most of his life. He had a lifelong career in law enforcement. He was an avid reader and enjoyed golf. He was preceded in death by his father, William Murray Dunn Sr.; and his mother, Opal Clement Dunn. Survivors include a brother, James Robert Dunn of Las Vegas; and a niece, Cara Hunt and her family, Brion, Camryn and Bryson. Mrs. Allison was born Oct. 14, 1959, in Tulia. She was the daughter of John Earl and Voncille Simpson of Tulia. She grew up in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School in 1978. She attended Angelo State University and graduated from West Texas State University with a degree in elementary education. She taught school in Tulia, Ozona, Bledsoe, San Antonio, Lubbock and Highland. She also received a Realtor's license and was a Realtor with Keller Williams in Lubbock. At her death, she was living in Highland and teaching fourth grade. Survivors include her parents; her husband, Jim of Highland; three sons, Landon, Caleb and Logan Powell, all of Highland; the children's father, Rodney Powell of Shallowater; two sisters, Celia Bragg of San Angelo and Olivia Adamson and husband, Keith, of San Antonio; a brother, John Earl Simpson III and wife, Nita, of Tulia; a nephew; and two nieces. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Bovina United Methodist Church with the Rev. Quita Jones, pastor, and the Rev. Aaron Reed of Bovina officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Hastings was retired from Santa Fe Railroad as a depot agent and telegraph operator. He was a member of Bovina United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He received the heritage award from the Bovina Chamber of Commerce in 1998. He was born July 27, 1920, to Hugh Thomas and Harriet Pearl (Dean) Hastings in Bovina. He was a lifetime resident of Bovina. He married Juanita Wright on Feb. 4, 1944, in Waynoka, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carole Jean Wright of Albuquerque, N.M., and LaJuana Renfro of Lubbock; two sisters, Imogene Swim of Roaring Springs and Donalita Hawkins of Bovina; four grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. He was a Dumas resident since 1980. Survivors include a daughter, Carmen Brown of Midland; two brothers, Troy Admire of Del Rio and Wayne Admire of Dumas; a sister, Joy Hayes of Bangs; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Clements was born June 24, 1945, in Winslow, Ariz. She was a member of Dalhart Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Curtis of Hewitt and Travis of Dalhart; a brother, Ronal Stubblefield of Winslow; a sister, Rita Rasco Priest of Lubbock; and four grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, April 22, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mary Elizabeth Wallace CLARENDON - Mary Elizabeth Wallace, 90, died Monday, April 19, 2004, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Ivey Edwards, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mrs. Wallace was born Sept. 22, 1913, in Clarendon and had been a lifetime resident. She married Leamon Lafayette Wallace on June 18, 1932, in Amarillo. Mrs. Wallace was a member of First United Methodist Church in Clarendon, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher, was a member of WSCS and had served on various church committees. She had also spent many years as an active member of various civic groups, and was a former sweetheart of the Panhandle Square Dance Club. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Johnson on Dec. 6, 1998; and all nine of her brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Doris White of Clarendon; a son, Glen Wallace of Brady; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Tony Wallace, Mark White, Mitch Johnson, Montye Smith, Chauncey Hommel and Tom Higley. Amarillo Globe-News, April 22, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dee Brown MULESHOE - Dee Brown, 90, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Muleshoe Church of Christ with Jimmy McGuire of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in Bailey County Cemetery with Barry Wiseman officiating. Mr. Brown was born Oct. 26, 1913, in McMinn County, Tenn. He married Dorothy Harris on Aug. 15, 1937, in Clovis, N.M. He had lived in the Muleshoe area since 1930, moving from Vernon. He attended the Methodist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Valley of Lubbock, Orient of Texas, where he was a charter member and received his 50-year pin. He was a charter member and served on the board of the Muleshoe Country Club. Dee was also a sponsor for 4-H and served in the Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife on April 8, 1990; his parents; two sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include two sons, James Brown and wife, Dianne, and Mac Brown, all of Muleshoe; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Wright, Russell Brown, Brandon Brown, B.J. Brown, Courtney Ware, Jana Finke and Debbie Schulze; 11 great- grandchildren; a stepbrother, Carl Deaton of Clovis; and three stepsisters, Betty Johnson of Idaho, and Dorothy Baldridge and Elsie Van Zee, both of California. Mass will be at 3 p.m. today in St. Teresa's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Sweeney, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Beliz had lived in Phoenix for the past three years, moving from Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a son, Brigido Beliz in 1994. Survivors include two sons, Jose B. Beliz of Friona and George Beliz of Laredo; six daughters, Alicia Espinoza, Veronica Martinez and Christina Valadez, all of Amarillo, Irene Martinez of Petersburg, Estella Mireles of Friona and Julia Mireles of Lubbock; 25 grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.
