Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Melvin Suttle of San Jacinto Assembly of God Church officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Holland was born in Sayre, Okla. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1932. Mrs. Holland married Johnny J. Holland in 1935. She was a charter member of the Cerebral Palsy Center of Amarillo, which is now known as the Children's Rehab Center. Mrs. Holland operated a daycare out of her home where she took care of numerous children for many years. She loved her Jesus, family, animals and especially her sons-in-law. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Holland was preceded in death by her husband in 1977; a daughter, Dorothy Holland; a grandson, Danny Ector Holman; a brother, Byron Bowen; and a sister, Frankie Matthews. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Dunlap and husband, Archie, and Deloris Holman and husband, Banjo, all of Amarillo; one son, Dennis Holland of Amarillo; one sister, Lula Mae Vance of Amarillo; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Weiss of Fredonia, Ariz., April Riddle of Kanab, Utah, and D.J. Holman of Redlands, Calif.; two great-great-grandchildren, Clayton Riddle of Kanab and Brittany Weiss of Fredonia; one granddaughter-in-law, Jackie Thomason of Odessa; four nieces; four stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, April 26, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paula Wiseman Shaw Paula WIseman Shaw, 67, of Amarillo died Saturday, April 24, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sudan Church of Christ in Sudan with Barry Wiseman officiating. Burial will be in Sudan Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mrs. Shaw was a 1954 graduate of Sudan High School and a 1959 gradute of Abilene Christian College. She was a school teacher and taught in Amarillo public schools, as well as in River Road, Plainview, Sundown and Marfa schools. Paula has been a resident of Amarillo since 1970, and she was employed by Region 16 as a vocational supervisor for 26 counties when she first came to Amarillo. She was also a member of the San Jacinto Church of Christ and the Rolling Hills Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by a son, Ted Scott Shaw, in 1996. Survivors include her husband, Donald R. Shaw; a stepson, Donald R. Shaw Jr. and wife, Roni, of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Valerie Lesly of Wimberley; two sisters, Charlene Griffin of Lubbock and Frances Sisco and husband, Leroy, of Southlake; two brothers, T.C. "D'Daddy" Norton, 70, died Saturday, April 24, 2004. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Farwell with the Rev. Gene Hawkins and the Rev. J.L. Bass officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Terrace in Farwell by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Norton was born on June 20, 1933 in Farwell to Lester and LaVysa Frances Sheets Norton. He married Bernice Chistian on September 6, 1953, in Oklahoma Lane. Survivors include his wife; his mother, Frances Norton of Farwell; a son, Ray Norton of White Deer; a daughter, Lori Hartley of Texico, N.M.; three brothers, Gerald Norton and David Norton, both of Farwell, and Charles Wade Norton of Artesia, N.M.; two sisters, Alta Geries of Farwell and Wilma Jamison of Marble Falls; and six grandchildren. Houston, 75, died Saturday, April 24, 2004, in Dalhart. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Kevin Anderson, pastor, his wife, the Rev. Darla Anderson, and the Rev. Murl Lindsey of Alamogordo, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Houston was born in Feb. 23, 1929, in Honey Grove. He married Erma Greshman on Nov. 23, 1963, in Shamrock. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Rita Rakestraw of Fargo, Okla., Joyce Morgan of Bronte, Claudette Mierzwik of Greenville and Gloria Houston; two sons, Ronnie Laramore of Canyon and Toby Houston; one sister, Chris Cockrell of Rotan; three brothers, Jack Houston of Bonham, H.G. Amarillo Globe-News, April 26, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cecil Russell PANHANDLE - Cecil Russell, 88, died Saturday, April 24, 2004. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Panhandle Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Metsler of First United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Russell died at home with his family by his side. He was born in Nacogdoches County on Nov. 29, 1915 to Martha Tynes Russell and Robert E. Russell. He moved to Panhandle when he was 6 years old. Cecil was employed by C.C. Camp duirng World War II. He retired from Panhandle Butane and Oil, where he worked for several years, in the late 1980s. Cecil was raised a Master Mason on Dec. 10, 1947, serving 57 years in Lodge No. 1167. During this time, he was Worshipful Master from 1971-1972 and 1996-1998. He was awarded the Golden Trowel award in 2002. Cecil loved to fish and spend time with friends and family. He never met a stranger or turned down someone in need. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Snider and husband, Don, of Pampa; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; many other close family members and friends; and a special nurse, Marcia Carter. The family will be at 310 E. 10th St. following the graveside service. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rob Lindley, pastor, and the Rev. Jesse Hodge, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Levelland, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Adams married Ray Adams on Dec. 20, 1953. He died Jan. 3, 2002. Survivors include two sons, Donald and Joe Adams, both of Tulia; one sister, Ara June Starnes of Quitman; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the West Texas High School gymnasium with the Rev. Orville Rodgers, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park in Borger by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Little played football, basketball and baseball at West Texas High School. Survivors include his parents, Richard and Peggy Little of Stinnett; a grandmother, Retha Atkinson of Amarillo; and three sisters, Kim Boyd of Borger, Farron Cowan of Stinnett and Shannon Lewis of Piedmont, Okla. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Washington had been a member of the Army National Guard. He was self- employed in the retail business. She married Jim Silcott on June 15, 1946. Survivors include her husband; one son, James Silcott of Mesquite; two daughters, Lizbeth Privitt of Albuquerque, N.M., and Pat Cox of Canadian; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
