Mr. Puls was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Booker and was a lifetime resident. He married Leona Stabel on Dec. 15, 1946, in Booker. He was a member of First Christian Church. He served in the military during World War II in the Air Corps in Northern Australia. He was assigned duty as a radio operator on the Liberator B-24 Bomber and flew 39 combat missions for a total of 440 hours. He received an Air Medal and the Purple Heart. He retired from television sales and service in 1982. Bailey, 81, of Amarillo died Thursday, April 29, 2004. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Perry Hunsaker and Dr. Bobby McMillan officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Bailey was born in Houston on Feb. 2, 1923. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1944 as an aircraft carrier pilot on the Manila Bay in the Pacific Theater. He married the former Helen Anne Cole in Houston in July 1944. He graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor of science degree in 1944. He owned and operated Ben Franklin stores in Fort Worth and Mercedes. He moved to Friona in 1960 where he owned and operated Western Auto Store from 1960 to 1964. He was the office manager for West Friona Grain from 1964 to 1968. He worked in the cattle feeding industry from 1968 until his retirement in 1990. After his retirement he moved to Amarillo in 1999. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Beverly Bailey of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Susan Bailey of Mabank; a son, Billie H. Bailey Jr. and wife, Cheryle, of Reading, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Billy and Arleana. Bobby Medford, pastor of San Jacinto United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Larson was born to Helen and Frank King on Nov. 4, 1925, in Detroit. In December 1925, the family moved to Amarillo and Frank "Rosie" King joined the Amarillo Police Department, retiring as chief of the detective division in 1955. She attended Margaret Wills Elementary School and Amarillo High School. She was a life member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 5969. She was also an avid bridge player and active at Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. She was also active in the Antique Automobile Club of America and until her later years, she was an excellent cook and won many awards for her culinary expertise. She married Russell Larson on March 1, 1943. She was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Marcus Ross King in 1979 and a son, Marcus Larson in 2000. Survivors include her husband; a son, Col. Georgia St. Mr. Raleigh was born Sept. 24, 1933, in Amarillo to Howard and Beatrice Raleigh. He graduated in 1952 from Amarillo High School where he was a three- year letterman for the varsity Sandie football team under Coach Howard Lynch. He married Margaret Jordan in Amarillo in 1953. He worked for Texaco for 31 years before retiring in 1985. He farmed for 40 years in Carson County. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Pastor's Sunday school class. He loved music and played in the family band, Neal and His Swinging Steel. He was in the Navy Reserve from 1948 to 1953. He moved to California in the early 1950s and formed his own band, Starlite Riders, before moving to Amarillo in the early 1970s. He married Betty Jo Newton on Aug. 8, 1975. Willingham, 76, formerly of Amarillo died Sunday, May 2, 2004, in Dallas. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with Dick Marcear, minister of Church of Christ at the Colonies, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Willingham was born in Childress on Oct. 30, 1927, but spent most of her life in Amarillo. Ms. Willingham attended Amarillo College and West Texas State University, wherein she graduated with a degree in accounting. Mrs. Willingham worked at Amarillo Air Force Base as chief comptroller and then for the United States Atomic Energy Commission, wherein she was chief financial analyst. During her tenure with both employers, Mrs. Willingham received numerous awards for her outstanding performance ratings. She was a longtime member of Central Church of Christ. Joy will be dearly missed. She may be out of our sight, but not out of our lives as she leaves the family with many happy memories. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb C. Willingham; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex T. McCaleb. Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, in Sudan Church of Christ in Sudan with Barry Wiseman officiating. Burial was in Sudan Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mrs. Shaw was a 1954 graduate of Sudan High School and a 1959 gradute of Abilene Christian College. She was a school teacher and taught in Amarillo public schools, as well as in River Road, Plainview, Sundown and Marfa schools. Paula has been a resident of Amarillo since 1970, and she was employed by Region 16 as a vocational supervisor for 26 counties when she first came to Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; a son, George Tirey in 1991; two brothers, George White and Everett White; and two sisters, Alice Penn and Lena Belle Cabe. Graveside services were at Bear Creek Cemetery in Euless. Memorial services were Monday in Grapevine. Arrangements were by Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home. Mr. Baird was born Jan. 17, 1932, at St. Louis. He graduated from Amarillo High School and attended Texas Tech University. He was one of the founders of the Texas Tech Chapter of Phi Delta Theta. He and his wife, Billie J. Kelley Baird, were married 49 years. Kay was a pioneer and leader in the financial services industry for more than 45 years. Kay graduated in the first class of certified financial planners from the College for Financial Planning in Denver. Among his other achievements, he served for seven years of service to the International Associate for Financial Planning (IAFP) as director, secretary, vice president, president and chairman of the board. His leadership directly caused the association to set plans and procedures for future growth and to continue the tradition of excellence for over 10,500 members at that time. From 1974 to 1977, Mr. Baird served on the board of directors and as national sales manager for Financial Service Corporation. In 1982, Kay chaired the first World Congress of Financial Planning in Monte Carlo that was attended by over 400 financial planners from 17 different countries. From 1982 to 1990, Mr. Baird served as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Source International, a company with 450 financial planners located in 30 states. Later, he was a director of financial planning for employees of a Fortune 500 company. A former member of Lions International, and an ordained deacon, he had been the national president of the International Association of Financial Planners. He was a member of Fellowship Church in Grapevine. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard; and a son-in-law, John Curry.
