Burns Norval W. Burns, 86, of Amarillo died Saturday, May 8, 2004. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Ronnie Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens. Norval Wayne Burns of Amarillo died May 8, 2004. He was 86 years old. He served in the Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Doris; a daughter, Debbie Nelson of Amarillo; two brothers, Corky Burns of Lake Charles, La., and Arvin Burns of McAlester, Okla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests that memorials be to Friendship Baptist Church or to BSA Hospice. Amarillo Globe-News, May 10, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Epolito "Paul" Valenzuela Epolito "Paul" Valenzuela, 46, of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 5, 2004. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Delifino Valenzuela officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Valenzuela was born Oct. 8, 1957, in Casa Grande, Ariz. He married Ester Castillo in 1975. He moved to Amarillo in 1982 from California. He was the owner and operator of Poor Boy Salvage and was also employed at Gebo's as assistant manager. He was a beloved husband, dad and popo. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Victor Adam Castillo and his children, Dimitri and Ditrick, all of Ft. Eustis, Va., Christopher Eric Valenzuela and his children, Jayson and Tristen, all of Amarillo and Alexander Miguel Valenzuela; two daughters, Amanda Audrey Wallace and her children, Emily, Ethan and Esai and Missy Renee Cuellar and her children, Noel, Adrian and Andrew, all of Amarillo; his mother, Armandina Nanez of Orosi, Calif; his father Henry Valenzuela and wife, Lillian, of Amarillo; five brothers; three stepbrothers; and six sisters. "Bill" Innes, 81, of Amarillo died Saturday, May 8, 2004. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Innes married Glennis Rose on March 30, 1963, in Amarillo. He served in the Army and was a veteran of World War II. In the 1940s, he opened Bill's Truck Stop, which was the first truck stop on U.S. Highway 287. Survivors include his wife; four sons and two daughters from a previous marriage, Jimmy, Bruce, Terry, Billy, Elaine and Rosemary; a stepdaughter, Janise Rose Langford of Wellington; a stepson, Sheridan Scott Rose of Oakhurst, Okla.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, May 10, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wanda Cain Faville Wanda Cain Faville, 97, of Amarillo, a longtime resident of the Texico and Clovis, N.M., area, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Childrens' Chapel of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, in Amarillo, with the Rev. Jo Roberts Mann officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Faville was born Feb. 18, 1907, to Carrie Arcane and Samuel Wiseman Cain in Clarendon. She graduated from West Texas State Teachers College and had done additional study at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She began her teaching career on a typical West Texas ranch, moving to Farwell in 1929 to teach third grade. In 1933, she married LeRoy Hake Faville, who, with his father, owned and operated the Red Cross Pharmacy in Texico. In 1946, she resumed her teaching career as a first grade teacher in Texico. She retired in 1967 after teaching a total of 33 years. Mrs. Faville was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She had been a member of the Women's Bible Class and Church Circle 6 of the First United Methodist Church in Clovis. She had also been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Gateway Garden Club of Clovis and Curry County Retired Teacher's Association, as well as the state and national associations. One of Mrs. Faville's favorite hobbies was gardening and she had won many awards at local flower shows. After her retirement, the Favilles enjoyed touring in the United States and Europe and spending time at their cabin in Pendaries, N.M., with their grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mikala Stephens and husband, S.S. Buddy, of Amarillo, a sister, Linnette McElroy of Vallejo, Calif.; her grandchildren, Shawn Stephens and husband, Jim Jordan, of Houston and Brent Stephens of Amarillo; two great-granddaughters, Ellen Taylor Stephens of Amarillo and Shelby Faville Stephens Jordan of Houston. Fogelson, 62, of Amarillo died Friday, May 7, 2004, in Claude. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Fogelson graduated from WT and went on to teach in Fritch. He served in the Air Force and was a veteran of Vietnam. He was a local artist and is remembered for his donations of art work to the Art Alliance for Arthritis. Survivors include three sons, Patrick Fogelson of Fort Worth, Eric Fogelson of Decatur, Ill., and Bryan Fogelson of San Antonio; a daughter, Michelle Fogelson of Washington; his mother, Nena Fogelson of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today in Church of Christ at the Colonies with Dick Marcear officiating. There will be a private family burial. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Tapscott was born in Plainview, and grew up in Tulia and Wildorado. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1958 with a degree in entomology. He married Elaine Love in 1959 at Wildorado. He worked for the USDA for 42 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ at the Colonies. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Elaina Johnson of Burleson and Elisia Escamilla of Georgetown; three sons, James W. Tapscott of Jacksonville, Ark., Austin L. Tapscott of Fort Worth and Lonnie Rae Tapscott of El Paso; a sister, Reta Draper of Amarillo; and eight grandchildren. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Hall was born June 25, 1978. He passed away on May 7, 2004. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1997. He was gifted and excelled in all activities he put his heart and mind into. He recently worked in Fort Worth at Aaron Iron Works where he became very successful. Jerry was blessed with a great love for his family and friends and was equally loved by them. He will be dearly missed by all. Phu Phan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mr. Aragon was born Nov. 26, 1924, in Abernathy to Daniel and Ignacia Marquez Aragon. He graduated from Friona High School. After high school, he joined the Army and was a medic during World War II. After the war he joined the Air Force and served in Korea. He retired as Tech Sgt. USAF. He married Tibbie Garcia in Hale Center in 1949. They moved to Canyon in 1966. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2001; four brothers, Fred Aragon, Paul Aragon, Alfonso Aragon and Procopio Aragon; and five sisters, Leonarda Alderete, Juanita Martinez, Alice Garcia, Julia Aragon and Ophelia Aragon. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home, 11th Street and Highway 60 in Canyon. Mrs. Campsey was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Vega to Louis A. Linger and Jessie Maude Himebaugh Linger. She was a public school teacher and librarian and a member of First Baptist Church of Canyon. Survivors include a son, R.C. Campsey of Happy; two daughters, Betty Conklin of Kansas City, Kan., and Jessie Lee Shelley of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Jean Scott and Kathryn Robinson, both of Hereford; two brothers, Albert F. Amarillo Globe-News, May 10, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Preston Dakota Voyles CLAUDE - Preston Dakota Voyles, 5, died Monday, May 3, 2004. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Claude with the Rev. Jess Little officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. in Amarillo. Preston Dakota Voyles left this earth to be with the Lord on May 3rd. He was born in Michigan on Jan. 6, 1999, to Chad Voyles and Kelly Lee. He was a student in Claude Elementary's PPCD program. Preston died in an early morning fire at his home on May 3rd. Even though five years is a short time, Preston left quite an impression on a lot of people. He loved animals, blowing bubbles and picking up sticks. Survivors include his father and stepmom, Heather Westfall of Claude; a brother, Mason Voyles of Claude; two sisters, Montana and Tony Voyles of Michigan; his grandparents, Terry and Nila Voyles of Claude; several aunts and uncles; and many other friends and family. Mrs. Steadman was born May 2, 1919, in Wellington, Kan. She attended schools in Kansas and moved to Canadian in 1955. She married Richard C. Steadman on Aug. 15, 1963, in Canadian. She was employed at the Fair Department Store and by Anthony's Department Store for many years. Earlier she was a waitress and a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church and the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Hood in 2003. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Bill Dean Masters of Enid, Okla., Glen Dale Masters of Ralston, Okla., and Larry Joe Masters of Garber, Okla.; two daughters, Vonda Lee Johnson of Mounds, Okla., and Sherry Lynn Dubois of Kansas, Okla.; four stepsons, Gary Steadman of Colwich, Kan., Larry Steadman of Fort Worth and Jerry Steadman and Terry Steadman, both of Liberal, Kan.; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
