Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Long was employed by Marie Foundations and was later a dispatcher for Alibates Trucking Co. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. Georgia St. Mr. Sims was born in Cripple Creek, Colo., to B. Von and Mollie Sims. He married Mary Helfenbein in Shattuck, Okla., on Jan. 2, 1937, and they were married for 67 years. He retired from S&H Green Stamps in 1970. Mr. Sims was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Merlin Sims; two brothers, Fred Sims and Earl Sims; and two grandsons. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Florence Sims Blackwell of Amarillo; a son, B. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. David Evans officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. McCain was born in Plainview to Sam and Verga McCain. He attended Amarillo High School, departing during his junior years for join the Navy. He served from 1943 to 1945 in the South Pacific during World War II and was awarded the South Pacific Ribbons. He returned to Amarillo after the war and married Margaret "Peggy" Stotts in Amarillo on Jan. 5, 1947. They had been married 57 years when Peggy died on March 29, 2004. Mr. McCain retired from the Postal Service after 36 years of employment. For the past 20 years he had worked as a floral delivery driver. Upon his death, he worked for Love and Sons, where he had worked for the past several years. Mr. McCain was active in Trinity Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon. He was also involved with the Widows Ministry. He will be always remembered for his bright smile and peppermints. In Ray's own words he wrote, "I liked people and I liked to be a help to them. I liked giving candy to bring joy to them." Mr. McCain did just that, he brought joy to everyone.
