"Tommy" Tuttle Tom D. "Tommy" Tuttle, 55, of Amarillo died Thursday, May 13, 2004. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Bob Schroeder, of Paramount Terrace Christian Church, officiating and Shane Tuttle assisting. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Tuttle was born June 29, 1948, in Lubbock to Margaret Ann and Don Luthor Tuttle. He married Margaret Ann Orlds on Dec. 8, 2001, in Paramount Terrace Christian Church. He was a life member of VFW Post 1475. He was a fun-loving man who was always surrounded by his longtime friends. He enlisted in Amarillo and was sent to Vietnam, where he performed his duty faithfully for his country. Three weeks after returning home, he volunteered for a second tour of duty to go in place of a friend. After the war, he earned an honest living as a barber before becoming disabled. Not ready to give up his zest for life, he managed to care for his family and friends. He always knew how to lift someone up when they were down, share their pain and accentuate their joys. He had such great charisma that most of his peers looked up to him as a big brother. He will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Julie Kay Tuttle of Lubbock; four sons, Shane Tuttle and wife, Kara, of Blue Grass, Iowa, Jerod Orlds of Amarillo and T.J. and Michael Tuttle of Lubbock; a sister-in-law, Janie Harding and husband, Dean, of Amarillo; two nieces, Kristina Whitelock and husband, Perry, of Rowlett and Kathie Crosby and husband, Rusty, of Amarillo; two great-nieces, Elizabeth Jones of Rowlett and Berkleigh Crosby of Amarillo; and a great-nephew, Alex Whitelock of Rowlett. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Patrick Carathers, of St. Hyacinths Catholic Church, and Ray Fullenwider, of Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M. Mr. Medling was born in Neelyville, Mo. He moved with his family to Taos, N.M., where he grew up. He entered the Army and served from 1958 to 1962. He made Amarillo his home after leaving the service. He opened a service station on Amarillo Boulevard and then an auto repair shop, Medling's Garage on 10th Avenue. In 1981 he moved his shop back to the Boulevard where he continued to work until 2000. He married Loretta Eastin in Amarillo on March 30, 1996. He once stated, "I don't have a pricing system, except I charge people what they can afford. It's a good life. I've got a good business, a good home and a lot of friends." He was an honest man, who treated everyone fairly. He was preceded in death by a wife, Ramona Medling in 1992 and a brother, Charles Medling. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Patty Sue Medling of Abernathy, Tracy McNutt of Amarillo and Donna Bowen of Ruidoso, N.M.; four sons, Kenneth Wayne Medling of Amarillo, David Eastin of Kinnelon, N.J., Jim Eastin of Adair, Okla., and Joseph Eastin of Dallas; two sisters, Lilly Mae Hillburn of Oregon and Sally Slater of Espanola, N.M.; two brothers, Eugene Medling of Belen, N.M., and John Arthur Medling of Oregon; and 11 grandchildren. Georgia St. Mr. Platt was born March 3, 1918, in Worchester, Mass. He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a pilot trainer. He was employed by Sandia Laboratories in New Mexico and Pantex in Amarillo. He was an avid bridge player and achieved the Grand Master of Bridge status. He was a member of Top Hatters and of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Elizabeth in 1976; his wife, Margaret in 1983; and his wife Bettye in 2003. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Luke's Presbyterian Church with Dr. J. Pat Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Lawrence was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Slaton to Edgar and Cora Sellers. She moved to Amarillo in 1923 where she graduated from Amarillo High School in 1939. She was employed in the Civil Service during and after World War II where she served in Hawaii and Japan. In 1949 she started a career with Santa Fe Railroad until she retired in 1982. She met her husband, Henry Harrison Lawrence III. They were married Dec. 7, 1954, in Amarillo. Following her retirement, she began 21 years of volunteer work with Northwest Texas Healthcare Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 6, 2003. Survivors include two daughters, Chyrl Upchurch and husband, Bruce, of Wichita Falls and Chris Fox and husband, Steve, of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Phillip Upchurch and wife, Lonnie, of Santa Anna, Calif., Jonathen Upchurch and Sarah Rackley, both of Wichita Falls and Joseph Fox of Amarillo; a great- granddaughter, Hayley Michelle Upchurch of Wichita Falls; a brother, Edgar Sellers of Amarillo; and three sisters, Frankie Stanford and Jenny Flowers, both of Amarillo, and Edd Purves of Washington state. He was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and Homebuilders Sunday school class. He liked fishing, hunting and camping. At one time he owned his own plane, which he enjoyed very much and also liked taking his friends for rides. Mr. Anderson was born March 14, 1950, to Mr. and Mrs. C.P. Anderson in Wheeler. He graduated from Shamrock High School with the class of 1968. He worked as a nurse in Amarillo before moving to Dallas. He worked for Neiman Marcus and the Marriott Hotel and was a dancer with the Arthur Murray Dance Studio for several years. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Bronte Cemetery by Cook- Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Evans led a very full, productive life. He was the only child born to Felma and Sid Evans on Feb. 19, 1955, in Bronte. He spent his growing-up years in Spearman, and he was the only foreign exchange student from Spearman High School spending his senior year in Belgium. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in accounting. He married his wife, Terri, on Oct. 18, 1986. They were best friends and soul mates as well as husband and wife. He loved to travel and spent many days enjoying the beauty of Cancun, Mexico. He was an avid Longhorn men's basketball fan. He proudly worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for six years before having to resign due to his failing health. He passed from this life following a long, courageous battle with his neurological disorder. Kerry, you are out of our sight, but never from our hearts. Remember - love you always and forever. He was preceded in death by his father; a grandmother, Margaret Brunson; and grandfathers, W.S. Evans and Fate Brunson.
