Kaul Frank W. Kaul, 82, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 25, 2004. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. James E. Garrett, senior pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Holton Cemetery in Holton, Kan., by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Kaul was born Nov. 8, 1921, to Frank and Helen Kaul in Holton. He married Faye Sewell on April 30, 1944. Frank served three years in the Army Air Corps. He returned to Kansas State University, graduating in 1947 with a degree in petroleum engineering. He worked for Halliburton Services for 32 years and H&L Operating Co. for 20 years. He was active in API, SPE, PGS, PPROA, Sons of the American Revolution and the Humane Society. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and Gleaner Friendship Sunday school class. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Kibbey, Dr. G.N. Pillar, Dr. Milan Patel, Dr. James Stafford and the BSA Hospice staff for his medical care. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John Kaul and Dr. Philip Kaul. Mr. Alston retired from the Amarillo Globe-News as circulation director after more than 40 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the North African and Philippine campaigns. He was active at Christ Lutheran Church for many years, serving as an elder and Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Emmett Alston; a son, John Alston; and four sisters. She was a member of Buchanan Street Methodist Church and frequently attended Peoples Church. She had various occupations and retired from Amarillo State Center. Earline loved life and had her own distinctive sense of humor. She loved clowning around and clowned for a hobby. Survivors include four daughters, Sandra McDonald, Vanda Gilliam and Ginger Dwight, all of Amarillo, and Lyn Netta Petree of Rancho Viejo; three grandchildren, Jeff McDonald, Jill Motley and Haley Dwight; six great- grandchildren; a very special friend, Gene Wheeler Jr.; and many others who were dear to her heart. Gerken, 82, of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 26, 2004. Memorial Mass will be at 4 p.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Keller officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Gerken served as a pilot in Europe during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Howard and Bessie were married on July 25, 1949, in Sacred Heart Cathedral. They were members of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where Howard was a member of Knights of Columbus. Howard worked for Sears before retiring after 20 years of service. Howard was a loving husband, daddy and papaw. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Louise. Amarillo Globe-News, May 27, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ada Farnsworth Webb Ada Farnsworth Webb, 93, of Amarillo died Saturday, May 22, 2004. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeff Conway officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. At Ada's request, this will be the only service on her behalf. She fulfilled a longstanding commitment to donate her body to science at Texas Tech Medical School. Mrs. Webb was born March 31, 1911, in Anson. She graduated from Anson High School in 1929, then attended North Texas University to obtain a temporary teaching certificate. She started her 33-year teaching career in the Oak Grove Community of Jones County, near Anson. By teaching and attending college part- time for several years, she obtained her BA from North Texas in 1938. She received her M.Ed. from West Texas A&M University in 1954. She married Boyd Marshall Webb of Borger on Sept. 29, 1940. Mrs. Webb taught third grade in Amarillo from 1954 through 1975, including at Sanborn, Wilson, Coronado and South Georgia elementary schools. She also served the teaching community for decades as a member, officer, and president of Delta Kappa Gamma. She served Westminster Presbyterian Church in many ways, including as moderator of Presbyterian Women in 1979, as an elder from 1984 to 1986 and as a delegate to many church conventions. She received the Woman of Faith award from the church in 1989. She was an officer and president of Church Women United of Amarillo. She supported the Presbyterian Children's Home in Amarillo for decades. Amarillo College established a scholarship in her name in the 1990s, which continues to benefit students there. She was the eldest child of seven of Eva Fowler Farnsworth and Edward E. Farnsworth. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 20, 1965; her brother, Staff Sgt. Elmer Lee Farnsworth; and a sister, Susie Mildred Hudson. Survivors include two sisters, Mary M. McBride of Round Rock and Eva G. Sage of Dallas; two brothers, John E. Farnsworth of Anson and Bill F. Farnsworth of Bella Vista, Ark.; a son, David F. Webb of Houston; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth L. Roehl of Pearland and Alexander D. Webb of San Antonio. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Amarillo, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Gooch was born April 23, 1923, in Pleasant Hill, N.M. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Gooch farmed in the Pleasant Hill community for a number of years. He worked for the Civil Service for 30 years at Cannon AFB and Vandenberg AFB in California before retiring. He was a lifelong Mason and Shriner and enjoyed the socialization of the Elks Club. The family would like to extend their thanks for the superb care and caring manner extended to him by the staff at Conner House in Canyon during his time there, and the the staff at Canyon Health Care Center for their help in the last few months. She moved to Texas at an early age and resided in Amarillo most of her life before moving to Joshua. She was also a resident of Kenner, La., for the last five years.
