Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Westview Christian Church with the Rev. Charles Waugh and the Rev. Roy Wheeler officiating. Private burial will be by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Roberts married Bill Roberts in Amarillo on March 30, 1991. She was a member of Westview Christian Church. Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Coffee Bunch for 50 years. Special Coffee Bunch friends were Elaine Landers, Wanda Hunt, Jane Douglass, Dee Guttry, Helen Heetland, Helen Holt, Dinah Howard, Jane Marcks, Chris McClain, Aletha Roads, Willa Thomas and Kay Stargel. Graveside services were at 4 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Arrangements were by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Thompson was born in Pauls Valley, Okla. She married Doc Thompson on March 13, 1930, at Hollis, Okla. She moved to Amarillo in 1951. She was a nurse for 23 years, working at Northwest Texas Hospital, Bivins Nursing Home and providing home health care. She was a member of the Apostolic Church and was a devoted follower of Christ throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975; and her only daughter, Joan Sthapitanonda in 2000. Survivors include a granddaughter, Prajinta J. Sthapitanonda of Amarillo; two great-grandsons, Rhett Rollins and wife, Marsha, and Dustin Rollins and wife, Annie, all of Amarillo; a great-granddaughter, Marissa Lewis of Amarillo; a great-great-granddaughter, Raven Rollins of Amarillo; two sisters, Virginia Dare Towne and Gilda Ruth Rock, both of Pharr; and two brothers, James Francis Speir of Tyler and Robert L. Bell St. Mrs. Rodden married Charlie Rodden on Aug. 11, 1939, in Tulia. She belonged to Second Baptist Church in Amarillo for 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987 and by a son, Eldon Rodden in 1989. Survivors include a daughter, Lila F. Rodden of Pampa and a grandson, Asher Rodden of Pampa. Georgia St. Mr. Hainer served in the Navy during World War II and then with the Army during the Korean conflict. He moved to Amarillo in 1959 from Columbus, Ohio. He married Evelyn Scott in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Kenneth Dygert; and a sister-in-law, Mary Pafford. Mrs. Frisbie was born in Clayton, N.M. She married Jerry Frisbie in 1951 at Amarillo. She attended Amarillo High School and was valedictorian of the 1952 midwinter class. She was an LVN of Advo Group Homes and touched the lives of many patients. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will always be missed. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 South Osage St. Ms. Thurlow was born Vanna Belle White in Hartley County on Jan. 8, 1921, to Van and Lena White. She was the second child of seven girls and one boy. She was married to Ralph Garrison "Jack" Thurlow and they lived in Amarillo most of their lives. She attended school at Ware and graduated from Dalhart High School. She later attended Texas A&M at College Station. She taught cosmetology at Hereford High School before joining the staff of Amarillo High School, where she worked until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter, Shannon Kaye Shelton; and three sisters, Loyce Keyser, Fern Cadwalader, and Pat Pyeatt. Georgia St. Melody attended Canyon schools and Amarillo College of Hairdressing. She was an artist and a published poet. She was a 1994 high point winner of the United Sheriff's Posse Rodeo. Melody loved the outdoors and was well-known for her ability to nurture and raise orphaned animals. Melody, also known as "Monkey," would say, "I see God in the clouds." Melody's five-year battle with cancer was fought with a strong will and grace. Mrs. Brownd married Rance Verna Brownd on April 21, 1935, in Plainview. She moved to Phoenix in July 2001 from Friona, where she had lived since 1976. She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 25, 1990; a son, Jerry Brownd on Nov. 15, 1982; and a grandson, Steven Wade Maddox on March 8, 1995. Burial will be in Pyles Cemetery in Direct by Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Hicks was born Feb. 23, 1917, in Lamar County. She married Charlie Luther Hicks on June 27, 1936, in Paris. Amarillo Globe-News, June 6, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Bryan Edward Morgan HOUSTON - Bryan Edward Morgan, 85, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Hudson McNair and the Rev. Asa Hunt officiating. Arrangements are by Geo. H. Lewis & Sons. Mr. Morgan was born on Jan. 15, 1919, in Lamesa to James M. and Katie Bassell Morgan and grew up in Shamrock. He graduated from West Texas State University where he was president of the Tri Tau Fraternity. He was employed in the petroleum industry for 42 years, the last 37 years with the Exxon Production Research group in Houston. His early career was primarily devoted to development and testing of oil well cements. With G.K. Dumbauld, he developed and patented lightweight cement slurries containing bentonite and a dispersant. These cements are still widely used by the industry. His later career was involved in research on and analyses of various types of oil well logs. He was the supervisor of the company's well logging and analysis schools which began in 1960 and trained hundreds of petroleum geologists in the interpretation and analysis of many types of oil well logs. He was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the Society of Professional Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) and the American Petroleum Institute (API). He was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church, Houston, where he served as an usher, a deacon and an elder. He was an early member of the Couples Class, which organized in the late 1940's while Dr. Charles King was the pastor and is now the Fellowship Class in which he was active until the time of his death. He made friends with many wonderful people through his church and through his profession. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; four brothers; and Carmel Lee Guinn Morgan, his first wife of 35 years. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Barbara Ann Blount Morgan; and many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.
