Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Harold Holt officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Knight was born Oct. 31, 1919, to Ed and Mamie Knight in Duncan, Okla. He was married to Lorene Walters Knight for 48 years. He was an Army World War II veteran, serving in the Philippine Liberation, Asiatic-Pacific Theater and the Occupation of Japan. He was an expert infantryman and received an honorable discharge on Oct. 27, 1946. He owned and operated Knight's Welding in Hart for 30 years before retiring and moving to Amarillo. He was a member of American Quarter Horse Association and was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife; and three daughters, Angie Richardson, Dianne Anderson and Christine Knight. Survivors include three sisters, Marie Halford of Amarillo, Ethel Holt of Granite, Okla., and Peggy Welch of Hobart, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Brenda Collins of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great- great-grandson. She was employed by the Dumas Police Department for 33 years as a dispatcher and secretary. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Middleton was born April 29, 1918, in Haskell to Fleming and Flora Irwin Middleton. He graduated from Canyon High School. He married Margaret McGruder on Jan. 1, 1939, in Clovis, N.M. He was a farmer and had lived in Swisher County since 1946. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Happy, where he served on the board of trustees for many years as well. He was preceded in death by his wife on July 21, 1996; three brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Hutto and husband, David, of Pampa; a son, Ronnie of Tulia; a sister, Maxine Black of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bowman chapel of First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in City of Lubbock Cemetery by Franklin- Bartley Funeral Home. Dr. Butler served Methodist churches in Folette, Vega, Amarillo, Borger, Midland, Big Spring, Hereford and Roswell, N.M., during his 37-year pastoral career. Dr. Butler served as the first pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Amarillo, served that church for six years and returned to Amarillo as the district superintendent of the Amarillo District for four years. He was W5ILJ as an amateur radio operator, avid Colorado deer hunter, and was a radio operator in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He received a Doctor of Divinity from McMurry University in 1970. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; and five children, Don, Patty, Tim, Janice, Rick, and their respective families.
