Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Jay Roberson, pastor of Tascosa Road Fellowship, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was born July 10, 1929, in Waurika, Okla. She was a cook at Curry Motor Freight and was employed at Northwest Texas Hospital in the dietary department. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Zellan Brown; three brothers; a sister; and two grandsons. Survivors include a sister, Marie Wallace of Deming; a son, M.J. Brown of Clovis, N.M.; two daughters, Virginia Hughes of Amarillo and Louise Young of Plainview; seven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great- grandchild. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in San Jacinto United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Stewart was born in Moran on Oct. 30, 1919, to Austin and Hattie Eaton. She graduated from Peacock High School and Draughn's Business School. During World War II, she worked at Camp Barkley in Abilene, where she met her husband, Frank. Frank and Dorothy were married in Dallas on Jan. 19, 1947. They resided in New York for a year before moving to Amarillo, where they had lived for the past 56 years. She worked at the Amarillo Globe-News for many years as an operator, retiring in 1985. She had belonged to San Jacinto United Methodist Church since 1953. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Darwin and Delwin Eaton; and an infant son, Michael. Survivors include her husband; three children, Cynthia Thompson of Amarillo, Susan Stewart of Spring and Tim Stewart and wife, Elaine, of Fredericksburg; three grandchildren, James Thompson of Amarillo and Austin Stewart and Kate Stewart, both of Fredericksburg; a brother, Jim Eaton and wife, Margie, of Lake Coleman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Georgia St. Mrs. Sims was born in Shattuck, Okla., on Sept. 27, 1915, to Gottlieb and Frieda Helfenbein. She married Claudie Phil Sims in Shattuck on Jan. 2, 1937. They were married for 67 years. Mrs. Sims worked for Sears and Roebuck in various positions, retiring in 1971 after 23 years of employment. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 10, 2004; a son, Merlin Sims; two grandsons, Michael B. Von Sims and Larry Blackwell; and two brothers, Arthur and Clarence Helfenbein. Survivors include a daughter, Florence Blackwell of Amarillo; a son, B. Interstate 40. Mr. Morris was a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany. He worked at Asarco for many years and the Postal Service before retirement. He was a member of Fairview Assembly of God for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Ruby, in June 1998; his parents; a sister; and four brothers. Amarillo Globe-News, June 16, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canyon Crawford Kiker Crawford Kiker, 85, of Canyon died Monday, June 14, 2004, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with David Lowrie officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Kiker was born May 8, 1919, to Ada and Schley Kiker on their farm eight miles southwest of Happy. He graduated from Tulia High School in 1926 and from West Texas Teachers College in 1940. During college he lived at the College Farm, where he was the chief cook for the 50 young men who lived there. He earned extra money by ironing their shirts and was proud of the fact that he could iron eight shirts an hour. After graduating from college he taught school in Sunray. He enlisted in the Air Corp in 1942 and was a veteran of World War II. He was a retired MSGT of the Air Force Reserves. During his later years he often became emotional when remembering that he was one of the members of the military who unknowingly prepared the aircraft Enola Gay for dropping the bomb on Hiroshima. Mr. Kiker married Ferne Byars of Canyon on Oct. 22, 1948. During the first years of their marriage he worked at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. Having moved his family back to Texas in 1950, he taught veteran vocational agriculture in Dimmitt until 1953. From 1953 to 1963, he was a technical writer for the Amarillo Air Force Base. From 1963 to 1976, he worked at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in California as a human biofactors engineer. He was extremely proud to have worked on the early space programs. Mr. Kiker also worked as a weights and balances engineer for Bell Helicopter in both Amarillo and Phoenix. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and served as their secretary until 2004, and was also a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite. Mr. Kiker was a member of the York Rite, Kiva Shrine, Canyon Lions Club, and First Baptist Church of Canyon. He was an avid supporter of the Buffalo Club and attended WTAMU sporting events as often as possible. He was a wonderful "Daddy" and a fantastic grandfather and great grandfather. His smiling face and sense of humor will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include two brothers, Weldon Kiker of Amarillo and Cecil Kiker of Carrollton; a sister, Mary Ella Robertson of Ballinger; two daughters, Frances Berry and Lorry Parker, both of Canyon; three grandsons, Brent Berry, Casey Berry and Todd Bradshaw, all of Canyon; and a great-grandson, Colton Berry. Amarillo Globe-News, June 16, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pauline "Bobbye" Rushing Myers Pauline "Bobbye" Rushing Myers, 98, of Canyon died Monday, June 14, 2004. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clark Williams, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Myers was born May 9, 1906, in Floydada to Suzie and Sherman Rushing. As a young lady, Bobbye taught Sunday school in the Rushing Chapel that her family built on their property. Bobbye attended McMurry Academy, which her father helped found. Bobbye also attended Texas Tech for two years. Bobbye came to Canyon to visit her sister, Tommie Pierce, where she met and fell in love with Elias Merton "Mutt" Myers. They were married in Tulia on Sept. 8, 1935. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary prior to his death in 1991. Bobbye was active in the Murry Bible Class and the Moss Richardson Circle at the First United Methodist Church. Bobbye has spent the golden years of her life lavishing love on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always found great joy in the "little ones." Mrs. Harris had been a Bovina resident since 1956. She was a member of Hilltop Senior Citizens in Amarillo, and in Amarillo she was known as "Miss Bovina." Survivors include three sons, Carl, Jimmy and Danny Harris, all of Amarillo; three daughters, Patricia Ray of Peoria, Ariz., Betty Shepherd of Levelland and Ruby Jones of Houston; a sister, Ola Mae Glenn of Waco; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Zybach Cemetery in Briscoe by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mr. Elmore was born Aug. 27, 1915, in Huntington, Ark. He was the son of Thomas Houston and Mary Alice McBurnett Elmore. He married Nona Green on Oct. 5, 1933, in Eric, Okla. Mr. Elmore had lived in the Allison community since 1938. He was a rancher and a hog buyer and loved playing baseball. He had been a member of Allison School Board, the Church of Christ and was voted Farmer- Rancher of the Year by Wheeler Chamber of Commerce. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Ann Bowman in 1998; six brothers; and five sisters. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sue Giddens and husband, Ray, of Wheeler and Phyllis Williams and husband, Carl, of Saginaw; a son, Larry Elmore and wife, LaDonna, of Allison; 12 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Golden officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mr. Dillman was born April 26, 1927, in Canadian to Thomas and Sarah Helton Wiggins. She attended Canadian schools and upon graduation, attended College of Mines in El Paso. Later the name was changed to University of Texas at El Paso. She received a degree in business with a minor in art. She was an active member of Chi Omega. She married Robert Joseph Dillman on Aug. 28, 1948, in El Paso. They moved to Canadian in 1949. Mrs. Dillman was a homemaker and a musician, teaching private piano lessons in her home for many years. She also worked for several years at First State Bank of Canadian. Mrs. Dillman moved to Plainview in 1999, where she resided at the Santa Fe House, an assisted living facility, until her death. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church, where she was church organist for many years and also taught Sunday school. She was a member of WMU, Sagebrush Art Association and PEO Chapter I. She was a former trustee of Wayland Baptist University. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 15, 1997. Survivors include two sons, George Darrell Dillman of Louann, Ark., and Col. Robert Dossie Dillman and wife, Charlene, of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Sarah Eaves and husband, Cary, of Plainview; a brother-in-law, George Porter Dillman of Houston; and five grandchildren, Jonathan, Timothy and Cary Catherine Eaves, and Sarah and David Dillman. HANNA OKLAHOMA CITY - Harry C. Hanna, 79, died Sunday, June 13, 2004. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Guardian West Chapel. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Stinnett, Texas, with Masonic Rites with Adobe Wall Lodge. Mr. Hanna was born June 23, 1924, in Bristow, the oldest of four children born to Harry D. and Mae Wellington Hanna. In 1942, Harry graduated as valedictorian from Stinnett High School in Stinnett. He was an officer in the Navy as an aircraft carrier-based fighter pilot on the USS Hornet during World War II. He was awarded an air medal with four stars and the Distinguished Flying Cross with two stars for his heroic service to our country. Harry graduated from the University of Denver in engineering and worked for more than 50 years in the oil industry. He began as a cable tool driller in the Texas Panhandle and went on to pioneer deep pressure off shore oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. Harry worked for 30 years for Kerr McGee/Transworld. When he retired, he was executive vice-president of Transworld Drilling. Harry remained an active pilot until his death and was a member of numerous aviation and military clubs. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. Harry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Robert Hanna. Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Mary Dalton of Stinnett and Martha Foster of Eagle Pass, Texas; two daughters, Carla Hanna of Golden, Colo., and Carol Black of Burleson, Texas; a son, Harry W. Hanna of Moore; a granddaughter, Carol Quisenberry of Bryan, Texas; and two stepgrandsons, Jomen Black of Ft. Myers, Fla., Michael Black of Boston.
