Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Central Church of Christ Chapel with Dan Bouchelle officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Taliaferro was born in Memphis to Toby and Vera Holman. She was raised in Amarillo. She married Tolly Jones in 1936, and he preceded her in death in 1992. After his death she married Weldon S. Taliaferro in 1996, and he preceded her in death in March 2004. She enjoyed volunteering at Ronald McDonald House and Meals on Wheels. She was also a Brownie leader and was active in the church, which included teaching Sunday school. Mrs. Taliaferro also enjoyed playing bridge, RV-ing, sewing and cooking. She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana and aunt. She was preceded in death by a son, Rusty Jones in 1980; a granddaughter, Monica Behunin in 1992; two brothers, Maurice Holman in 2001 and Charles Holman in 2002; and a sister, Laverne Hise in 1999. Survivors include a daughter, Becky Holliday of Foley, Ala.; a sister, Jonnie Hall of Amarillo; two brothers, T.W. Holman and Roger "Banjo" Holman, both of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Tracy Jones of Lubbock, Romie Behunin of Amarillo and Julie Jones of El Paso; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Gustin was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Erick, Okla., to Oslar Joe and Ethel Minton Hess. She was a homemaker and a member of Arden Road Baptist Church. She married Carroll "Gus" Gustin on Dec. 18, 1959, in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven "Ronney" Daniels; a daughter, Donna Sue Montano; and a sister, Arleta Keith. "Chuck" Layman, 76, of Amarillo died Tuesday, June 15, 2004. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Garrett, pastor to senior adults, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Layman was born in Hereford and was a resident of Amarillo for more than 50 years. He served in the Navy in World War II and was based in Hawaii. He married Charlene King in Clovis, N.M., in 1950. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a telephone repairman for 37 years before retiring. Mr. Layman loved his grandchildren who called him "Pippi" and his favorite pastime was playing dominoes with family and friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pamela Elliott and husband, Dale, and Debbie Boeka and husband, Jerry, all of Amarillo; two brothers, Clyde Layman and wife, Bonnie, of Fritch and M.J. Mrs. Simms was born in Borger on March 28, 1929, to John and Fanny McVey. She graduated from Alamo Catholic High School in Amarillo, and later married Walter W. Simms in Pampa in 1947. They lived in various towns along the Santa Fe Railroad including Umbarger, where she worked at the Rhinegold Restaurant before moving to Canyon in 1985. Nina was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Amarillo, and was also a member of the Alter Guild and Lutheran Charity. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Walter L. Simms of Houston, John N. Simms of San Bernardino, Calif., and James R. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Cockrell owned and operated Pampa Paint and Body for 25 years. He was a veteran of the Army. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with Dr. Henderson of Childress officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Bratton was born in Cottle County on Nov. 21, 1931, to Lorin and Eva Bratton. He was a longtime farmer, rancher and owned Paducah Lumber Co. for many years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Paducah and was a 32nd degree Mason. Mr. Bratton was a Jaycee and served on the Paducah School Board. He was a past member of Paducah Housing Authority and the Soil and Water Conservation Board. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Laura Bratton of Lubbock and Jori Parks and husband, Ron, of Paducah; a brother, Jim Bratton of Paducah; a grandson, Jack Parks; two nieces, Allyson Welch and family of Mansfield and Jill Welch and family of Hurst; two nephews, David Bratton of Dallas and John Bratton of Paducah; and many other relatives and friends. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home. Mrs. Szydloski was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Graham, to William Cox and Minervia Alice Grimes Cox. She married Leo Szydloski on Sept. 15, 1939, in Happy. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Happy, serving as a communion steward for many years. She was also active in the Happy Senior Citizens. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Mr. Padgett was born June 28, 1927, in Memphis the son of Ruby and Marshall Padgett Sr. He married Minnie Estrada on March 7, 1969, in Clovis, N.M. Mr. Padgett was a veteran, having served in the Navy during World War II and retired as chief of police from the Hereford Police Department. He was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include two sons, Ricky Padgett and Chris Castro, both of Amarillo; two daughters, Debra Padgett of Bushland and Diane Carter of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
