Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor, and the Rev. Kent Winters, of World Family Harvest Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Harlan was born June 3, 1983, in Memphis and had lived in Amarillo and Clarendon most of his life. He had worked as a CNA at Amarillo Nursing Center and at Medical Center Nursing Home in Clarendon and had also been employed at Tri-State Baking Co. He had attended Caprock High School in Amarillo and Clarendon High School. He was a member of Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, O.T. and Nola Hill. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Millie and Keith Barnett of Amarillo; his father and stepmother, H.W. and Michele Harlan of Clarendon; his grandparents, Ross and Robbie Hill and Norma Bruce, all of Clarendon, Jeannie Phillips of Pampa, and Doyle and Kathy Watson and Pee Wee Barnett, all of Memphis; a brother, Robby Barnett of Amarillo; two stepbrothers, Michael Bruce and Chris Bruce and wife, Marsha, all of Clarendon; a sister, Lesley Lemons and husband, Brandon, of Amarillo; two stepsisters, Andrea Coxey of Clarendon and Tabaitha Martinez of Memphis; a niece, Melanie Brock Lemons of Amarillo; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family suggests that memorials be to Serenity House in Abilene or to Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in West Bethel Baptist Church in Rule with the Rev. Elijah B. Demerson, pastor of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Rule Memorial Cemetery in Rule by McCauley- Robison Funeral Home of Rule. Local arrangements are by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Mr. Hicks was born Dec. 12, 1958, in Stamford to Leroy Hicks Sr. and Louise Hicks. He married Alma Rae on Jan. 4, 1997, in Amarillo. He was a member of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ. He was a resident of Amarillo for more than 40 years. He was a graduate of Palo Duro High School. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Wheeler, of Amarillo, the Rev. Jimmye Cole, of Elkhart, Kan., and the Rev. Michael Davis, of Malden, Mo., officiating. Burial will be in Mobeetie Cemetery in Mobeetie by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. Cole was born Sept. 4, 1918, to Robert Andrew and Samantha Asabrene Clay Wheeler in Rankin, Okla. She was a member of Church of Nazarene in Wheeler. She had worked at Parkview Hospital in Wheeler for 25 years and worked in First Baptist Church Nursery in Wheeler. Survivors include three sons, Tommye Cole of Moscow, Jimmye Cole of Elkhart and Rustye Cole of Longmont, Colo.; two daughters, Zinna Kaye Dickey of Shamrock and Frances Dickey of Mobeetie; two sisters, Laverna Doorack of St. Louis and Ruth Clopine of Peoria, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home, 11th Street and Highway 60 in Canyon. Mrs. Szydloski was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Graham, to William Cox and Minervia Alice Grimes Cox. She married Leo Szydloski on Sept. 15, 1939, in Happy. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Happy, serving as a communion steward for many years. She was also active in the Happy Senior Citizens. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Sims and Jill White and husband, Danny, all of Happy, and Ann Payne and husband, Larry, of Amarillo; two brothers, H.L. Amarillo Globe-News, June 19, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oklahoma James Donald "Jim" Hughes Jr. GUYMON, Okla. - James Donald "Jim" Hughes Jr., 66, died Monday, June 14, 2004. Services were at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Christeson Funeral Chapel in Harrison, Ark. A second service will be at 10 a.m. today in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church in Guymon with the Rev. Jack Peck and the Rev. Michael Burkett, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson- Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. Mr. Hughes was born to James Donald and Margaret Shields Hughes on May 5, 1938, in Guymon. He married Joy Carter Hughes on Dec. 3, 1982, in Clayton, N.M. Jimmy graduated from Guymon High School with the Class of 1956. He simply loved entertaining and seeing people laugh. As a child, he developed a love for the circus and, later in life, he enjoyed entertaining people in the hospital as a clown. Over the years Jimmy helped raise money for many different organizations with Vaudeville Shows. His love for dancing began at a very young age and continued throughout life by teaching ballroom dancing throughout Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. Jimmy was a very talented interior decorator, floral designer and painter. For many years, he owned and operated Hughes Holiday Tours where he had the pleasure of taking people on tours to every state in the 48 contiguous states, as well as Alaska, the Bahamas and Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of Harrison, Ark.; a sister, Donita McCarrell of Guymon; two daughters, Kari Hughes Wood of Oklahoma City and Phyllis Ann Hatfield of Halstead, Kan.; a son, James Lee Hughes of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, Colton Lee Hughes, Atticus Lee and Makala Hughes, all of Oklahoma City, A.J. and Alison Owens, both of Hugoton, Kan., and Callie and Jayme Hatfield of Ottawa, Kan.; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved pug, Slugger.
