"Jimmy" Albritton James D. "Jimmy" Albritton, 82, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 23, 2004. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Charles Jones officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery with military rites by Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Albritton was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Delhi, La. He moved to Amarillo in 1945, where he married Mary Ruby Lee Land on July 27, 1945. He was a World War II veteran of the Army/Air Force, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1475. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Josie Cowart; a granddaughter, Beverly Albritton; three brothers; and a sister. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Ruth Goodson and husband, Earl, of Dumas, Ruby Foster of Fort Myers, Fla., and Pauline Logdson and husband, Randy, of Amarillo; four sons, Paul Albritton and wife, Marylin, and Roy Albritton and wife, Linda, all of Amarillo, Robert Albritton and Julie Dobbs of Tulsa, Okla., and Billy Albritton of Dallas; 16 grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Lettie Fellows of Houston and Leror Ilses of Denton; a brother, Arthur Albritton of San Iberia, La.; three sisters-in-law, Ida Belle Albritton and Ruth Albritton, both of Farmerville, La., and Margaret Land of Amarillo. Amarillo Globe-News, June 25, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guadalupe "Lupe" Ortega Jr. Guadalupe "Lupe" Ortega Jr., 51, of Amarillo died Tuesday, June 22, 2004. Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Thursday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Francisco Perez officiating. Services will also be at a later date in Our Lady of Perpetual Help in McAllen. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission. Mr. Ortega was born Oct. 27, 1952, in McAllen to Maria Elida Ochoa and Guadalupe Ortega Sr. He served in the Air Force. He was employed by the Texas State Department of Criminal Justice as a transfer officer at the William P. Clements Justice Unit in Amarillo. He was a loving man who will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, April Baca; two stepchildren, Brittany and Jeremy Baca; two sons, Guadalupe Ortega III of Amarillo and Michael Ortega of Amarillo; two sisters, Sandra I. "Sandy" Lemley of New Braunfels and Martha Diana Martinez of El Paso; four brothers, Rick Ortega of Fort Worth, Eddie Ortega of McAllen, Lionel M. Ortega of Edinburg and Oscar Ortega of McAllen; his parents, Maria Elida and Guadalupe Ortega Sr., both of McAllen; and seven grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, June 25, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joyce Faye Combs Joyce Faye Combs, 42, of Amarillo died Tuesday, June 22, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Vurn Martin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Ms. Combs was born to Mrs. Maggie Combs and the late Charlie Combs in Amarillo on July 15, 1961. She attended Olsen Park Elementary, Crockett Middle School, Palo Duro High School and Amarillo College, where she received an associate degree. She was baptized at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a very active member. Joyce served on the usher board and was also a member of the choir. Her kind words, thoughts, deeds and cherished smile will be missed by the many lives she touched. She will live on in the hearts she touched. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Winifred Lee Waller and Artis Stell Sampton. Survivors include her mother; five sisters, Alma Davis, Alonia Waller, Minnie Combs Snead, Mary Combs Thompson and Charlene Combs; a brother, Eddie Wayne Combs; her children, Cornelius Chan'Cae Combs, Toneshia Le'Shea Combs Gindratt, and Tyra Me'Kel Combs Gindratt; a daughter-in-law, Robyn Ferrell; her three special grandchildren, Denisia Marie Combs, Taymarion Kash Combs and Tavian Chan'Cae Combs; a very special friend, Lois Richard; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Stone was born on Aug. 27, 1944, in Phillips. He was an engineer for the Burlington, Northern, Santa Fe Railway from 1974 to 2004. Survivors include his wife, Linda of Amarillo; a son, Phillip Brec Stone of Amarillo; two daughters, Stacy Tucker of Liberty, Mo., and Sarah Stone of Amarillo; a sister, Joyce Collins of Fritch; and six grandchildren. Mrs. Guerra was born Oct. 4, 1928, in Victoria, the daughter of Julio and Gabriela Torres. She married Gregorio Guerra and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Diane Gutierrez, Sylvia Gutierrez and Nalda Zambrano, all of Hereford; a brother, Gilbert Rivera of Victoria; three sisters, Ambosia Guerra of Plainview, and Janie Nieto and Vicente Reyes, both of Victoria; nine grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Diane Case; two daughters, Kristina Opitz and Micah Melton, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Imogene Molloy of Memphis and Barbara Mullin Reeve of North Richland Hills; and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Dreamland Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Don McDonald, minister of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home. Dr. Markham was born July 4, 1921, in Hedley to Bell and Lewis Markham. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Dr. Markham started his veterinary practice in Canyon in June 1951. He was a past elder in First Presbyterian Church of Canyon. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda. Survivors include a son, Roy Lee Markham of Fort Worth; and a grandson, Scott Lee Markham of Plano. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rhea Cemetery with David Symm, minister of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lariat, officiating. Arrangements are by Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mrs. Schueler lived in Abilene since 2001, moving from Spring. She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse and had worked at the hospital in Friona. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Abilene. She married Norbert O. Schueler on March 25, 1951, in Clovis, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 17, 1997; and a granddaughter, Jacy DeLeon on Feb. 29, 2000. Survivors include a son, Clinton Schueler of Spring; two daughters, Terri Glover of Abilene and Carol McIntosh of Friona; two sisters, Geraldine Bell of Lubbock and Billie Pipkin of Midland; six grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
