Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with John Esler officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Hall was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Dundas, Ill., to Inez M. Youngling and William E. Lamkin. She married Marion L. Hall on Oct. 10, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 5, 2000; and a brother, Sam Lamkin. Survivors include a son, Steven Lee Hall of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Judy Anne Looney of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Joan Farnham of Northbridge, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Vurn Martin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Ms. Combs was born to Mrs. Maggie Combs and the late Charlie Combs in Amarillo on July 15, 1961. She attended Olsen Park Elementary, Crockett Middle School, Palo Duro High School and Amarillo College, where she received an associate degree. She was baptized at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a very active member. Joyce served on the usher board and was also a member of the choir. Her kind words, thoughts, deeds and cherished smile will be missed by the many lives she touched. She will live on in the hearts she touched. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Winifred Lee Waller and Artis Stell Sampton. Survivors include her mother; five sisters, Alma Davis, Alonia Waller, Minnie Combs Snead, Mary Combs Thompson and Charlene Combs; a brother, Eddie Wayne Combs; her children, Cornelius Chan'Cae Combs, Toneshia Le'Shea Combs Giandratt, and Tyra Me'Kel Combs Gandratt; her three special grandchildren, Denisia Marie Combs, Taymarion Kash Ferrell and Tavian Chan'Cae Combs; a very special friend, Lois Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Cothren was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Indiahoma, Okla. He was a member of American Legion and VFW. Amarillo Globe-News, June 26, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canyon Ada Ruth Hilburn Crager Ada Ruth Hilburn Crager, 78, of Canyon died Thursday, June 24, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donna Johnston officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Crager was born May 27, 1926, to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert S. Hilburn Sr. in Plainview. She grew up and attended high school in Plainview. She received a bachelor of science degree from Texas Tech University in 1947, and a master's degree in education from West Texas State University in 1969. She taught math at Canyon Junior High School for 20 years. Ada was a member of the Sue Hite Study Club, Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher Honorary Society, and the Kappa Alpha Theta National Sorority. After retirement, she served as a volunteer at the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where she served on the Worship Committee and was a member of a church supper club. She also served on the Cancer Board and was a member of the Book Club and bridge clubs. Ada was a very avid traveler and spent her retirement years visiting various places in Asia, Europe, Australia, North America, and other locations around the world. In her home base of Canyon, she was known as a loving friend, a caring neighbor, and an active supporter of area cultural events. Survivors include a brother, Herbert S. Hilburn Jr. and wife, Inez, of Horseshoe Bay; a stepsister, Peg Hein and husband, Marv, of Austin; three children, Bruce Crager and wife, Karen, of Houston, Teddi Cherry and husband, Dale, of Rockwall and Jack Crager and Vivian Gill of New York City; six grandchildren, Chad and Melissa Crager of Phoenix, Autumn and Zach Crager of Houston, John and Jordan Cherry of Rockwall and Julia Crager of New York City; two nephews, Spence and Linda Hilburn of Marietta, Ga., and Ted and M.B. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. today in Resthaven Funeral Home Abbey Chapel. Mr. Nichol was born Dec. 12, 1954, in Amarillo. He married Ritha Rudolph on April 4, 1989, in Dallas. Survivors include a son, David Dustin Montgomery of Wichita Falls; his father, Leonard Nichol of Amarillo; a sister, Pam Anderson of Amarillo; and a brother, Bobby Nichol of Amarillo. Cunningham, 85, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Mackenzie of St. James Episcopal Church and Jeff Taylor of Central United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Dr. Cunningham was a devoted doctor and a dedicated servant to this community for 51 years. He was the epitome of the true rural family physician, including the extinct practice of making "the house call." Dr. John always had a special place in his heart for little ones and senior citizens. He delivered babies for 32 years and many, many times was up all hours of the night delivering babies or taking care of very ill patients. Anything Dr. Cunningham did was with faithfulness and dedication. Dr. Cunningham was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Spencer, W.Va. His family moved to Oklahoma when he was a small boy and Oklahoma was the place he called home. After high school and college graduation, he spent four and a half years in the Army Air Corps. During this time, he married the love of his life, Jane Ann Kraft, a native of Norman, Okla., on Sept. 6, 1942, in Lubbock, which was also the day he received his wings. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma Medical School and interned at University Hospital in Oklahoma City. On March 1, 1953, Dr. Cunningham, Jane Ann and their five children arrived in Dalhart from Duncan, Okla., where he had been practicing for two years. He joined two of his classmates, John Blaschke and Jimmy Glenn, and began his practice in the building on Texas Blvd. just north of Coon Memorial Hospital. As soon as the family was settled in Dalhart, they placed their membership in Central United Methodist Church. Dr. Cunningham was a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association and Dallam-Hartley and Sherman-Moore County Medical Associations. He supported the Dalhart Community Concert Association, the "TEXAS" production, Dalhart Theatre Group and the John H. Cunningham Jr., M.D. Scholarship Fund through Opportunity Plan. In 1990, he received the Outstanding Citizen honor and in 1992, Dr. John and Jane Ann celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. In 1995, he retired from his medical practice. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Allen and Esther Cunningham; a sister, Marion Teusink; a brother, Bill Cunningham; a son, John H. Cunningham Jr. M.D.; and two grandsons, Ray Allison "Toby" Snead IV and Johnathan Windsor Snead. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bill and wife, Marsha, and Rick and wife, Glenda, all of Dalhart, and Bobby and wife, Deborah, of Lubbock; a daughter, Marsha Snead and husband, Bud, of Dalhart; a brother, Jack Cunningham and wife, Marilyn, of Monterey, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, Johnny Cunningham and wife, Myra, of Bossier City, La., Kimberly Cunningham of Addison, Allen Cunningham and wife, Lisa, Bryce Cunningham and wife, Christi, Evyn Box and husband, Sgt. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Texhoma Cemetery in Texhoma by Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Gist was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Neosho, Mo. She married Everette Gist on June 16, 1955, in Clayton, N.M. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Rhonda Hininger of Dalhart; a son, Billy Gist of Bovina; a sister, Elva Mae Parsons of Oklahoma City; a brother, David Ledbetter of Neosho; and four grandchildren.
