A private family burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Mrs. Gullick was born in Harford, Ark. She lived in Amarillo for 50 years. She worked as a manager for Piggly Wiggly stores for several years. She married Burt Gullick in 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband in December 2003. Cremation arrangements are by Memory Garden Crematory, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Soe was born in Burma and moved to Amarillo three months ago. He married Aye Aye Mu in May 1999 in Thailand and was a member of North Amarillo Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife and a daughter, July Soe, of Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Richards, pastor, and the Rev. Brett Storseth, associate pastor of Fairway Baptist Church in Wichita Falls and grandson of Mrs. Hanson, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Hanson was born March 16, 1920, to Neva and Jim Kemp in Madill, Okla. Her family moved to Amarillo in 1923. She attended both Amarillo College and Western Republic College. She married the late Virgil T. Lemaster in 1937 in Amarillo and they raised two children, Barbara Murray and Beverly Storseth, both of Amarillo. In 1976, she married Ira "Gene" Hanson of Amarillo. A woman of many interests and roles, Mrs. Hanson loved God and loved her family, and spent her life joyfully serving both. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Amarillo, where she was an active participant in their women's group and the "Harmony" Sunday School class. She served in a number of leadership roles as a lifetime member of Epsilon Sigma International No. 1365. Mrs. Hanson worked at JC Penney's for 16 years as clerk and then office manager, and retired from Ponca Wholesale Mercantile Co. after 20 years as purchasing agent and eventually vice president. But more than anything else, Mrs. Hanson will be remembered as a beloved wife, a devoted mother and a caring "Mamaw" to her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Mr. Lemaster in 1964; a son, Travis; her parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Mr. Hanson; two daughters; two sons-in law, Roger Murray and Dick Storseth, both of Amarillo; two stepsons, Ken Hanson of Amarillo and David Hanson and wife, Jenny, of Florida; a brother, Wesley Kemp and wife, Emma, of California; several nieces and nephews; her grandchildren, Lori Murray, Stephanie Gray and husband, John David, Aimee Boyett and husband, Jason, all of Amarillo, Janna Dingmore and husband, Jerry, of Macon, Ga., and Brett Storseth and wife, Nicole, of Wichita Falls; her great-grandchildren, Evan and Abbey Gray, Kenzie, Colton and Asher Dingmore, and Ellie and Owen Boyett. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Southern was born April 20, 1926, in Haskell to James Leo and Ann Cox Southern. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1944, two months after leaving for service in the Navy. He married Betty Lucile Willis in 1949 in Amarillo. After receiving his electrical engineering degree from Texas Tech University, he and his wife returned to Amarillo to join the family business, Southern Furniture. In 1954, he moved his young family to Dumas to open a second location of Southern Furniture. While living in Dumas, Mr. Southern was active in the First Methodist Church, served on the school board, was active in Lions Club, served as president of the Dumas Chamber of Commerce and hosted a morning radio show, "Cleo the Cleanup Man," for 10 years. In 1969, he and his family returned to Amarillo where he continued in the furniture business as owner of Southern Furniture and Herring Furniture. During his professional lifetime, Mr. Southern was active in community and civic activities, including serving on the boards of Kings Manor and the Amarillo Symphony, and as a director of the Southwest Home Furnishings Association. He helped to organize St. Paul United Methodist Church and remained active in the Downtown Lions Club until his death. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim Southern and wife, Linda, of Boston; a daughter, Lucy Southern of Amarillo; two grandsons, James Southern IV of New York and Robert Southern of Boston; his mother, Ann Southern; and a brother, Dr. Burwell Southern and wife, Joyce, of Amarillo. Arrangements are by Boxell Brothers at Vega. Mr. Everett was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Vega, the fifth child of Blanche Johnson and Cosey T. Everett. He graduated from Vega High School in 1952 and attended Texas Tech University for a brief period. He returned to Vega and worked as a cowboy for a period and then moved to Kansas City and worked for a packing plant. In 1958 he married Peggy Carnes in Amarillo and to this union was born one son, Barry Kirk Everett. He worked for Swift Packing and American National Insurance Co. in Amarillo. In 1960 he moved back to Vega and was employed by Roark Oil & Gas. Later he purchased the business from Mr. Roark and owned it until 2000. He also leased land in the Vega area and farmed and ranched until 1996. He was a member of First United Methodist Church at Vega and Vega Masonic Lodge. He married Jeannette Dempsey in 1980 and she died in 1994. He is also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack and Cosey Jr. Survivors include his son Barry and wife, Dr. Meganne Walsh of Amarillo; his first wife, Peggy Hill of Amarillo; two sisters, Betty Goodin and Lillian Brown and husband, Johnny, both of Claude. Georgia St. Mr. Neilson was born in Shamrock, Okla., to Rogers Redman and Lilian Neilson. He married Jewel Rayborn in San Francisco at the Presidio on Oct. 14, 1940. He enlisted in the Army and then served from 1937 until 1946. He served in the horse cavalry until it was decommissioned in West Texas and was then in the Corp of Engineers in the European Theater of World War II. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army as a major, he returned to private life as an engineer. He was in charge of building the Pan American Highway in Guatemala, the Great North Highway in Africa, the Blue Mesa Dam in Colorado, the Black Canyon Dam and dredged the Amazon River. He lectured at Michigan State and VMI Engineering Schools. He was a member of West Oaks Baptist Church in Houston. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years in 1998. He graduated from Floydada High School and attended Texas Tech University. He joined the Army Air Corps Reserve while at Texas Tech and became a flight instructor. Later he was flight commander and trained pilots for World War II at Stamford. After World War II, he was a pilot with Braniff Aircraft for two years. He then moved to Amarillo and started a construction firm. He built many custom homes within a radius of 100 miles of Amarillo before becoming a general contractor. Some of the projects he built were Northwest Texas Hospital, High Plains Baptist Hospital, Amarillo High School, American Quarter Horse Association building, Mary Moody Northern Hall, Cornette Library and Science buildings at West Texas A&M University, Utilities Engineering Building, 1800 Washington, Paramount Baptist Church and Paramount Terrace Christian Church in Amarillo. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church and charter member of Trinity Baptist Church where he held the first meeting in his home. He married Maurine Mashburn in 1978. He retired from his business in 1984. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Inez Strickland; a son, Robert Lane Strickland; a sister, Mildred Carter and three brothers, Dale, R.E. and Clyde. Upon returning to the states, he completed his education at Tulsa University. He graduated with a degree in petroleum engineering and began work for the Phillips Petroleum Co. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Riley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Burks was a hopper car repairman for Engineer Carbons. He married Anna Schroeder on March 20, 1998, in Stinnett. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kimberlee Ann Burks of Oakland, Calif., and Deborah Lynn Patrick of Sacramento, Calif.; a stepson, Brandon Edward Smith of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Brandy Michelle Callahan of Borger; a brother, Randall Burks of Fritch; two sisters, Pat Fisher of Borger and Juanita Moulton of The Woodlands; and seven grandchildren, Savannah Patrick, Katelyn Patrick, Danielle Patrick, Austin Burks, Preston Burks, Jackson Callahan and Jara Callahan. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Kumar officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Maria moved to Guymon from Austin, Texas, in 1980. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Survivors include eight children, Leonor Maravilla of Mexico, Maria Barrios of Oklahoma City, Rafael Lozano, Daniel Lozano, Ignacio Hernandez and Cruz Hernandez, all of Guymon and Delfina Silvestre and Anita Hernandez, both of Austin; 44 grandchildren; 95 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great- grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Faith Missionary Church in Texhoma with the Rev. Lindell Howard, of Mitchell, S.D., officiating. Burial will be in Texhoma Cemetery by Dawson-Welch Funeral Home of Texhoma. Mr. Flores attended Texhoma High School. He married April Ann Gill on June 2, 2000, at Texhoma. Survivors include his wife; a son, Isiah Flores of Guymon; a daughter, Cambry Flores of Guymon; his father, Jesus Fernando Flores Payan of Stinnett, Texas; his mother, Katherine Jane Smiley of Stafford, Kan.; two brothers, Donald Flores of Stinnett and Michael Flores of Stafford; three sisters, Fawn Hodges of Follett, Texas, Melony Smith of Olathe, Colo., and Kathleen Flores of Stinnett; his grandmothers, Sharon Smiley of Texhoma and Concepcion Payan de Flores of Mexico; and his great-grandparents, Wilma Smiley of Stafford and Marion and Hazel Grow of Great Bend, Kan.
