Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo by Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home. Pat was born in Dalhart on March 17, 1925. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, her father, Amos Leslie Willson (her mother was Richie Adela Hobgood) took whatever job he could find, as did many others. She lived with her family, along with her older brother Amos Leslie Jr., in various towns in the Panhandle of Texas. This included Wellington, where her paternal grandparents, Samuel O., a shoemaker, and Rosella Willson resided for years before moving to a small farm south of Decatur. In 1935, the Willson family also lived on the farm and Pat and her brother, Leslie, often walked home from a Decatur school when the weather permitted, avoiding the circuitous route of a school bus. In 1938, the Willson family moved to Amarillo, where Pat's father found a job in the Finklea Electric Company. Some years later, he left that employment and founded his own Texhoma Electric Co. Many wheat elevators in the Panhandle were wired by Amos L. Willson and his crew. Like her brother, Pat graduated from Amarillo High School, and like him, she attended the University of Texas, the only campus of which was in Austin at the time, as an art major. She was a gifted artist in various mediums, such as pen and ink, clay and pencil, but eventually her favorite pastime became creating jewelry set with semiprecious stones. She took employment with General Electric as an order clerk, working at first with a typewriter and eventually a computer. Years later, visiting Leslie, then a retired Germanic languages professor who had taught for many years at the University of Texas in Austin, he came upon her typing on his computer and was amazed to discover that she had never learned touch-typing. Her speedy hunt-and-peck system amazed him. Her job took her to Irving and in 1971, after the death of her father, she moved her mother there, too, into a house on the opposite side and a few doors down the street on which she lived. She had dachshund companions for many years, until they were stolen in a burglary of her house. She then acquired a purebred German shepherd, Katie, to keep her company and guard the house when she was at work. She will be remembered by a host of friends throughout the United States. Survivors include a brother, Leslie Willson and wife, Jeanne, of Austin; two nephews, Brian of Rockport, Maine, and Kevin of Austin; and a niece, Juliet Jiménez of Austin.
