Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Calvert Cemetery in Calvert with Russell Arnett officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Arnett was born in Elmo County. She moved to Amarillo seven years ago from El Paso. She was a homemaker and a member of South Georgia Baptist Church. She married Clyde B. Arnett in 1928. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985. Survivors include a son, Billy M. Arnett and wife, Janice, of Fort Worth; two daughters, Ila Campbell and husband, J.D., of Amarillo and Danette Welch and husband, Sonny, of El Paso; a brother, Hugh Morris of Huntsville; a sister, Neil Wyatt of Houston; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Clayton was born Jan. 11, 1933, in McKnight. He was a 50-year member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 196. He was a member of Arden Road Baptist Church. He loved to be outdoors and spend time in the mountains. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; a daughter, Deborah Kennedy; and a granddaughter, Melissa Bennett. Amarillo Globe-News, July 20, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- George Mason McLaren Jr. George Mason McLaren Jr., 66, of Amarillo died Sunday, July 18, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Dr., with Dr. Jeff Beardon officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. McLaren was born in Richmond, Va., and had been a resident of Amarillo for more than 40 years. He married Della Rose Scruggs in 1961 in Woodland Park, Colo. He served as a military police officer in the Army in France. He married Pat Tuel in 1995 in Amarillo. He worked for Foran Construction for 25 years. He was employed by L.A. Fuller & Sons from 1985 until the time of his death. Mr. McLaren was a Christian man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Della, in 1992 and his father, George Mason McLaren Sr. Survivors include his wife, Pat; a son, Mark McLaren of Amarillo; two stepsons, Todd Tuel and wife, Tomi, of Sacramento, Calif., and Tracy Tuel and wife, Toni, of Arlington; three stepdaughters, Treva Leber and husband, Carl, of Colleyville, Teena Howell of Euless and Beverly Thompson and husband, Jim, of Arlington; his mother, Frances Ward of Westland, Mich.; a sister, Mary Beam of Richmond; and 14 grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia with Glenn Walton, of Bell Avenue Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Dunn was born June 1, 1923, to Arlie and Lola Dunn near Saint Jo. After graduation, he entered the Navy in 1943 and served during World War II in the Pacific on the USS Henry Mieggs. He married Genevia Stratton on Sept. 16, 1949, in Amarillo. Mr. Dunn was retired from Texas Industrial Services, now known as Unifirst, after 25 years of service. His hobbies included taking recreational vehicle trips and fishing after his retirement, along with spoiling his grandsons. Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul Edward Dunn and wife, Marie, of Amarillo; a sister, Mildred Miller and husband, R.C., of Amarillo; and two grandsons, Desmon and Dexter. He was a member of Oasis Southwest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura, on Nov. 17, 2000, and a son Johnny Fry in 1999. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon, 1702 Fifth Avenue. Florence A. Stephenson was born Jan. 9, 1904, in Canyon to Brent and Dollie Thompson Taylor. She was a member of the Thompson family, a pioneer family in Randall County when Canyon was established. She attended Canyon High School and West Texas State Teachers College. She married Earl H. Stephenson in Siccoro, N.M., on Dec. 19, 1925. She taught school in New Mexico and then worked as a riveter during World War II. She also worked at Pantex and then as the bookkeeper for Thompson's Hardware for 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Canyon. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1931; a brother, B.C. Taylor; and three sisters, Mildred Sullivan, Mary Bailey and Eva Furlow. Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Barrett and husband, Dick, of Canyon; four grandchildren, Corky Barrett and wife, Debbie Ann, and Bonnie Barrett, all of Canyon, Johnny Barrett and wife, Loretta, of Moore, Okla., and Rodney Barrett and wife, Debbie Lynne, of Noble, Okla.; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, July 20, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Mooney Stall SKELLYTOWN - Mooney Stall, 86, died Sunday, July 18, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Fines Marchman, pastor, officiating. Burial with military rites provided by the Honor Guard of Altus Air Force Base will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Borger. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mooney was born in Wellington on Aug. 16, 1917, to Thomas Stall and Mary Mooney Stall. He apprenticed woodwork with his father from the time he could hold a hammer. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1934 where he was an athlete and a scholar. He enlisted in the Marine Corps Jan. 2, 1942. He served as a staff sergeant during World War II, where he made five bloody beachhead landings on Guadalcanal, Saipan, Tinlan, Tulagi and Tarawa in the Pacific Theater. He earned the Purple Heart for taking enemy fire as he carried his commanding officer off the battlefield. He married Cletta Bowling on Aug. 19, 1976, in Phillips. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Skellytown where he served on the building committee, the tally committee and was a member of the Fellowship Men's Sunday school class. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Lion's Club. He was a carpenter and furniture and cabinet maker who had a shop in Amarillo and later worked in the Borger area as an independent builder. His life was marked by grace and service. He was a passionate, vibrant, loyal and hardworking man who deeply loved his family, friends and dogs, but hated bad manners and rattlesnakes. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sandra Foust of Amarillo and Cindy Raburn and Mondessa Morton, both of Bastrop; three sons, David Stall of Bastrop, Kerry Bowling of Amarillo and Ronnie Bowling of Ionia, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Stall of Pampa; 13 grandchildren, Shanna Foust- Peeples, Rondi Foust-Henderson, Colin Foust, Melanie Waren, Anna Bowling, Nastasha Bowling, Logan Bowling, Shay Bowling, Ashley Winkler, Jennifer Mendoza, Chris Kingsbury, Trina Craddock and Greg Morton; 23 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Tina was born in Amarillo on June 27, 1983. She lived most of her life in Claude. She graduated from Claude High School in 2001. Tina battled Cystic Fibrosis all her life. She was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Chad Voyles and a nephew, Preston Voyles. Mrs. Adams was born Feb. 22, 1914, in Kirkland. She married Robert Emerson Adams in November of 1935. They lived in the Wayside Community most of their lives, where they farmed and where Mr. Adams was a mechanic. In 1981, they moved to Clarendon. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Palo Duro Nursing Home in Claude. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Clarendon. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 2, 1992; two sisters; and a brother. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Adams of Clarendon and Leslie Adams of Canyon; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
