Francis Robert O. Francis, 76, of Amarillo died Thursday, July 22, 2004. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Westlawn Cemetery in Borger with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Francis was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. He was a retired journeyman electrician for Brown and Root Construction. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Basquez of Hollister, Calif., Tamara L. Mitchell of Lewisburg and Jacque Wilson of Penn Valley, Calif.; a brother, Jack Francis of Borger; a sister, Norma Hillman of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Raef, 96, died Friday, July 23, 2004, in Canyon. Vigil and rosary was said at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Umbarger with the Rev. Scott Raef and other priests of the diocese officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Raef was born Nov. 2, 1907, in Prescott, Kan., to Francis and Nellie Boyd Raef. They moved to Claude in 1910 and then to St. Francis in 1918. He attended St. Francis grade school and graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago in 1928. He then moved back to Amarillo and worked as an electrician for general contractors. He married Reba Myers in Amarillo in 1933. They moved to Umbarger in 1946, where he owned and operated Umbarger Butane for 30 years, retiring in 1976. He also owned and operated the Umbarger grocery store. He was an active participant in the annual German Sausage Festival. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degrees. He served on the school board of trustees and on the water board for Umbarger. He also served as an election judge for Randall County. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003; a son, Thomas D. Raef in 2000; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssia Earl in 1979. Survivors include six daughters, Barbara Bernard Hartman and Sylvia Raef Artho, both of Canyon, Helen Raef Lannier of Fairview, Suzy Hicks and husband, Marion, of Umbarger, Margaret Riggs of Amarillo and Mary Lyne and husband, John, of Corsicana; five sons, Louis Raef and Guy Raef, both of Amarillo, Michael Raef of Umbarger, Andy Raef and wife, Edith, of Crestview, Fla., and Dr. Kevin Raef and wife, Kathy, of Canyon; a sister, Florence Hatfield of Amarillo; a brother, George Raef of Big Spring; 40 grandchildren; 42 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. House had been a resident of Pampa since 1946. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, George Hause of Williamsburg, Va.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bud Kidwell and the Rev. Jesse Dea officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park by Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Jowers was born March 13, 1924, in Fort Cobb, Okla. She married Lewis Horton Jowers on Jan. 11, 1939, in Quanah. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Landers of Quanah; four sons, Jerald Jowers, Earl Jowers and Lester Jowers, all of Quanah, and Tony Jowers of Amarillo; a sister, Maurine Brown of Crosbyton; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ferril was born Nov. 9, 1932, in Clarendon to Clarence and Eva Arthur Bradley. She married Marvin Ferril on June 2, 1952, in Shamrock. Geraldine had retired from Baxter Medical Supply as a PBX operator. She had been a member of First Assembly of God in Shamrock since 1990 and served in many capacities. Survivors include her husband; a son, Jerry Ferril and wife, Jamie, of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Betty Hazlewood of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and twin surrogate grandsons. Burial will be in O'Donnell Cemetery by White Funeral Home of Tahoka. Mr. Amaro was born Nov. 29, 1929, in Maxwell. He married Ophelia Barrera on Aug. 19, 1951, in O'Donnell. Survivors include three sons, Louie Amaro of Garland, Danny Amaro of Hoover, Ala., and Jimmy Amaro of Borger; a daughter, Theresa Amaro of O'Donnell; a brother, Trudy Amaro of Lamesa; two sisters, Susie Amaro of O'Donnell and Sara Torres of Lubbock; and five grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Miller, minister of South Georgia Baptist Church, officiating. Local arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Gray was born Nov. 2, 1952, in Tucumcari. Norma, also known as Jeannie, resided in Tucumcari most of her life, where she cared for her family. She owned and operated her own business, County Sunset and Cloud Nine Ceramics. Her ashes will be laid to rest with her mother and father in Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery following the services. She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Kenneth Baum and her mother, Billie Jean Baum. Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Edwards Arias and husband, Andrew, of Amarillo; two grandsons, Drake Cashen and Richard Gray, both of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Madison Arias of Amarillo; a stepson, Wayne Gray and wife, Stephanie, of Amarillo; a brother, Bill Baum and wife, Goldie, of Tucumcari; and a nephew, David Baum and wife, Caroline, of Amarillo.
