Wilson Margie L. Wilson, 83, of Amarillo died Thursday July 29, 2004. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Jeff Raines, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Margie was born in St. Jo, moving to Amarillo when she was in the fourth grade. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1937. She lived in Amarillo most of her life, forming many lifelong friendships. Margie was a wonderful homemaker and made all feel welcome for meals, fun and entertainment. She loved to sing and play the organ. She was deeply loved as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church and was loved by them. Margie served in many ways providing meals, making telephone calls and reaching out. That was one of her many talents, touching others' lives and making a difference. Her love of God and faith in His will, has been an example to her family and many others who knew her. She was preceded in death by Howard Wilson, the love of her life for 56 years, in 1993; and a daughter, Linda Clinton, who was her "special angel." Survivors include a daughter, Ann Maedgen and husband, Ron, of Mesquite; three granddaughters, Melisa Cook, Paige Clark and Stacy Rader and husband, Jerry; a grandson, Marc Maedgen; five great-grandchildren; and her nieces, nephews and extended family. Mrs. Montgomery married David E. Montgomery in Amarillo in 1972. She was a member of Irwin Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Shane Montgomery and Michael Montgomery, both of Amarillo; her father, Leonard C. Anderson, 77, of Amarillo died Thursday, July 29, 2004. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rusty Dickerson officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Anderson was born in Cimarron, Kan., on Jan. 8, 1927, to Arthur and Pearl Anderson. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1944, lettered in both basketball and football and was very active in school activities. After several months of working in oil fields in Oklahoma as a roughneck, he joined the Navy during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. He attended college on the G.I. Bill starting at Oklahoma A & M in Okmulgee then transferring to Kansas State University, where he graduated with a B.S. degree in geology. Don married Helen Howell on April 7, 1950, in Ashland, Kan. He began his career as a petroleum geologist with Phillips Petroleum for 17 years, Mesa Petroleum for seven years and the remaining years as an independent geologist. During this time the family lived in Bartlesville, Okla., Wichita Falls, Abilene, and Oklahoma City before moving to Amarillo in 1967. Don enjoyed his work, family (especially his grandchildren), friends, golf, hunting and fishing. He was a cub master at Olsen Park School for three years in the 1960s. He was a member of the Methodist church, Panhandle Geological Society, A.A.P.G., a past member of the Landman Association, past board member of Tascosa Country Club and councilman for the KSU School of Geology. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Chris Jones and husband, Bennett, of Arlington and Kim McCarty and husband, Steve, of Amarillo; a son, Greg Anderson and wife, Connie, of Dallas; three grandchildren, Taylor Jones, Merrill Jones and Nick Sandlin; a sister, Bonnie Phillips and husband, Eldon, of Hurst; a nephew, Randy Becker; and a niece Janalyn Lawler. She worked as a registered nurse for St. Anthony's Hospital for more than 13 years, retiring in 1983. She was a charter member of Meals on Wheels and delivered meals for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Piecemakers Quilt Club, Amarillo Senior Citizens Club, St. Mary's Parish and the Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Philip Girard in 1967; and a sister, Johanne Long in 2004. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Skellytown. Bailey touched everyone's life who came in contact with her. She loved her family, friends and her church. She loved to shop, sing and cook. She was full of school spirit and encouraged everyone. Bailey loved the color purple. Margaret was born Jan. 27, 1922, at K.M.A. to William Ezra Lucas and Frances Elizabeth Burnham. She had three siblings. Margaret lived most of her life in Amarillo and Borger. Her first husband, Glen Bishop, was killed in World War II. She later married Frank Johnston and became a loving mother to his infant daughter, Kay. Margaret retired from her job as secretary to the faculty at Amarillo Junior College in 1982. She loved working in her church, growing in the Lord, spending time with her family and friends and helping others. Her strong faith and determination enabled her to overcome many obstacles in her life. She will be remembered by all who loved her for her caring and generous spirit. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen; a brother, Carl Lucas; and a sister, Ann Gilpin Deckman.
