Mrs. Parker was born in Childress on May 17, 1934. She was an Amarillo resident for more than 30 years. Mrs. Stockstill was born in Edinburgh, Ark., in 1911. She was a retired homemaker and was very active in her church until she was no longer able to attend. Edna lived most of her years in Amarillo, but because of her health moved to Green Valley and resided at Silver Springs Retirement and Assisted Living Community. Other states she lived in included California, Washington and Alaska. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Stockstill, in 2000. Survivors include a son, Dale Stockstill of Amarillo; a daughter, Janis May of Green Valley; a brother, W.J. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon and Happy Chapel, 1702 Fifth Ave., with the Rev. Phu Phan, pastor of St. Ann's Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mrs. Jackson died in Canyon on Aug. 10, 2004, three days short of her 106th birthday. She was born to Mary Magdalene Hueve and Herman Brinkman on Aug. 13, 1898, in Miller City, Ohio. She moved with her family to Rhineland in 1904 and then to St. Francis in 1912. She married Earle D. Jackson on April 18, 1918, in Amarillo. Mrs. Jackson worked throughout her life in Amarillo, including a stint as an ordnance worker at Pantex during World War II. In her later years, she worked as a nanny and caregiver for many Amarillo families. She was a longtime member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. She spent her last years at home in the company of her beloved books, flowers, sewing and grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Erlene Tinsley and husband, Ray, of Canyon and Jeanet Mann and husband, Maurice, of Amarillo; a sister, Bea Crews of Canyon; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 12, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ted Rutherford Ted Rutherford, 87, of Canyon died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Friona Cemetery in Friona with the Rev. Steve Patterson, of Friona United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mr. Rutherford was born Oct. 16, 1916, on the Rutherford ranch in Young County near Graham to Claude Eugene Rutherford and Allie Reid Rutherford. Ted went to school in Mertens, Quinlan, Okla., and Boise City, Okla., and later attended Draughon's Business College in 1937, where he met "the love of his life," Martha Slagle from Friona. They were married on Dec. 31, 1939, in Union Congregational Church in Friona by the Rev. Herschel Thurston. He worked for International Harvester in Amarillo and Cox Farm Equipment in Clayton, N.M. before moving to Richmond, Calif., to work as a leaderman in the Henry J. Kaiser shipyard from 1942 to 1945. He was the West Coast champion port hole burner, helping build 567 Liberty ships during World War II. He also had the privilege to be the triggerman to launch one of the Liberty ships that he helped build. After the war, he returned to Clayton, where he co-owned Tri-State Grain and Seed Elevator, followed by a partnership in Tri-State Motors. He also operated the Hilltop Dairy, which supplied milk to the Hilltop Pasteurization Plant owned by his father and brother-in-law. Together, they supplied Clayton with its first pasteurized milk. In 1959, he returned to Amarillo as in independent truck driver for Elkins Fruit Market. He later drove for Roberts Lumber Company and ICX. In 1972, he began driving for Yellow Freight System. He transferred to Tucumcari, N.M., in 1977 and retired from Yellow Freight in 1985 as a member of the Teamsters Union. He moved to Friona in 1992 and to Canyon in 2001. He was Methodist. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Wayne Rutherford of Aurora, Colo., Warren Rutherford and wife, Sue of Puyallup, Wash., and Keith Rutherford and wife, Kimberley, of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Williams of Arlington; and nieces and nephews. "Jim" Sikes, 83, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Ikner, pastor of Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Sikes was born Jan. 30, 1921, to Don and Lodema Lee Sikes in Paris, Ark. He was a veteran, serving in the Navy during World War II as a chief petty officer. Jim married Lou Dorough on Feb. 18, 1946, in Ozark, Ark. They moved from Ozark to Shamrock in 1946 and came to Wellington in 1953. Jim was a master technician for West Texas Utilities for 33 years. He was one of the founders of the Wellington Ambulance Service. Jim was a member of the VFW Glynn Moore Post No. 6439 and the Wellington Volunteer Fire Department. He attended Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1994; a daughter, Linda Branch in 1992; and a brother, Deward Sikes. Survivors include two daughters, Beth Crooks of Yucaipa, Calif., and Nancy Lewis of Wagoner, Okla.; a brother, Don Sikes Jr. of Taft, Calif.; three sisters, Myra Dell Wilson and Velma Sue Easley, both of Bryan and Betty Lou Noreen of Ozark; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Malouf died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at 11:30 p.m. at Friona's Prairie Acres Nursing Home after a long illness. He was born Nov. 13, 1924, in the biblical town of Tyre, Lebanon, to George and Jamileh Malouf. He married Linda Masso Malouf of Jerusalem in 1941 and moved back to his hometown of Tyre in 1948. In 1959, he set out to move his growing family of eight to the United States to seek the opportunities of the "American Dream" in the "New World." He came with his family to Lubbock, where he operated his retail clothing store until 1961. In 1962, he moved his business and family to Lockney. Then, in 1964, he moved to Hereford, where he continued to operate his dry goods and fabric store for six years. In 1971, he moved once again, this time to Friona, where he continued to operate his now-renowned Malouf's Fabrics for 31 years. He retired in 2002 after having added five more children in Texas. Mr. Malouf was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church of Friona and was a respected citizen of his community. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marie of Tyre; three brothers, Mathanios and Rizqalla of Tyre and Youssef of Beirut; and a daughter, Marie Swayden of Amarillo. Don Snelleman, 55, died Tuesday, August 10, 2004. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Snelleman was born Dec. 5, 1948, in Abilene, where he spent his childhood years. He later moved to Amarillo, where he ran track and graduated from Tascosa High in 1967. Don graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence in 1974 with a master's degree in social work. He was in the mental health profession and was vice president of clinical services at Woods Psychiatric Institute in Abilene. He was also co-owner and operator of Quest Psychiatric Hospital in Amarillo and owner and operator of Alcohol Recovery of America, an outpatient facility in Dallas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gwen; and two sons, Coler Snelleman of Quincy, Ill., and Corbin Snelleman of New York City. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 12, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeanne Duket Dews ARLINGTON - Jeanne Duket Dews, 82, died Tuesday, August 10, 2004. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Moore Memorial Gardens by Arlington Funeral Home. Mrs. Dews was born in Amarillo on Aug. 3, 1922, to Travis and Allye Lively. She went to West Texas State, taught music in Channing and married Robert K. Duket on Dec. 23, 1942. Jeanne was a longtime resident of Arlington, an active member of the First United Methodist Church Choir, the Aldersgate Sunday school class, the Women's Club of Arlington, Women of Rotary and the North Texas Cancer Society. After the passing of her beloved husband and father of her daughters, Jeanne started her career as a professional event planner as co-owner of Special Arrangements, Inc. She enjoyed planning and hosting any event from small dinner parties with her friends to conventions in Fort Worth. Jeanne married Rabon O. Dews on Aug. 15, 1984. Together, they traveled the world, enjoyed their church and friends and shared the joy of life for 20 years. After Rabon's passing, she moved to Town Village Arlington and shared much fun, laughter and close friendships. Her heart was filled with music, her voice sang sweet melodies, her dance was often graceful, yet she loved to pick up the beat and swing to the jitterbug. Her kindness, her grace and joyful life made us all want to get up, dance and sing along. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Bausone and husband, Peter, and Debbie Reed and husband, Robert; two brothers, Travis C. Lively of Pampa and Lamar Lively of Amarillo; a sister, Patricia White of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Amy, Tammy, Robin, Ashley, Jimmy and Nicole; and six great-grandchildren.
