Nail Joseph H. Nail, 81, of Amarillo died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church with Charles Meyer, pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Nail was born in Bell County on April 11, 1923. He graduated from Temple High School in 1941. He played on the varsity football team. He married Nora Tiemann on Sept. 1, 1945, in Topeka, Kan. Mr. Nail worked for Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in 1983. At the time, he was superintendent of communications. He was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher for many years. Joe's clever sense of humor and storytelling ability will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1988; his parents and a brother. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Gentry and husband, Brad, of Amarillo; two sons, Jim Nail and wife, Dorothy, of Carol Stream, Ill., and John Nail and wife, Norma, of Greeley, Colo.; a granddaughter, Sarah Nail of Boston; and a sister, Emily Garrett of Brownwood. The family suggests memorials be to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 3500 S. Bowie St., Amarillo, TX 79109. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Jim Fox, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Miller was born in Brinkman, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo for the past 40 years. He worked as a truck driver for Fuller & Sons Construction for more than 12 years. He married Vada Tucker in 1989 in Amarillo. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Barbara Miller of Alabama; three sons, Elisha Moss and Don Moss, both of Amarillo and Earl Miller of Alabama; five sisters, Fern Chapman, Jackie Gobel and Patsy Youngblood, all of Mangum, Okla., Joy Weaver of Oklahoma City and Sue Riems of Alaska; two brothers, Norman Miller of Amarillo and Eddie Miller of Mangum; six stepdaughters, Roxann Porter, Patty Sarah and Darla Farrar, all of Amarillo, and Tammy Bullard, Barbara Martin and Sandra Butler, all of Enid, Okla.; a stepson, Ronnie Grueter of Enid; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Precure was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Choctaw, Okla. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. Mrs. Harris was born to Ora Lee and Frankie Lou Brown Phillips on March 26, 1918, in Leonard. She married E.D. "Buster" Harris on Aug. 1, 1964. He married Leona Schacher on Jan. 7, 1953, in Nazareth. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Spanish First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Martin, pastor of Liberty Baptist Church of Dalhart, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. Mr. Marquez was born Aug. 19, 1925, in Kenedy to Anaceleto Marquez and Beatrice Rios. He married Eloisa Tijerina at Mathis in August, 1949. Domingo had been a Dumas resident for 34 years. He retired from farming in 1986. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Domingo Marquez and wife, Eileen, of Amarillo, and Noe Marquez and wife, Rosa, and Eulojio Marquez and wife, Santa, all of Dumas; two daughters, Rosa Arellano and husband, Ruben, and Anita Olivarez, and husband, Wally, all of Dumas; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great- grandchildren. Mr. Taylor was born Jan. 2, 1926, in Childress. He married the former Lorena Morris on April 17, 1948, in Childress. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Barbara Eason of Childress and Shirley Gilbreath of Paducah; a son, Eddie Taylor of Childress; three sisters, Fairy Hackler and Vel Smith, both of Childress and Rose Sims of Oleta, Fla.; a brother, Charles Taylor of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1966 and was discharged with the rank of an E-5. Survivors include two daughters, Melanie Hazle of Pampa and Monica Warner of Spring; his mother, Hazel Rose of Lefors; three brothers, John A. Jernigan of Amherst, Mass., Keith Jernigan of Lefors and Jimmy Jernigan of Pampa; two sisters, Linda Bridgeman of Pampa and Ouida Nordby of Lake Stevens, Wash.; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Washer was a carpenter for the family construction business. He married Carol Lisle on Sept. 1, 2004, in Amarillo. Mr. Steele, the son of Richard and Jane Steele and the brother of Ellen Steele Wedemeyer and husband, Drew Wedemeyer, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, in San Antonio. Josh was born in Pampa on Jan. 20, 1974. He graduated from Pampa High School with honors in 1992. He received his bachelor of science degree from Baylor University in December 1996 and received his master's degree in history from West Texas A&M University in 2003. Josh was enrolled at St. Mary's University and working toward a doctorate in international studies and law when he died. While in high school, he was a state and national competitor in debate and qualified for UIL national competition in foreign extemporaneous speaking his senior year. After completing his degree at Baylor, he worked in marketing for companies in Dallas and Fort Worth and in New York. He returned to the educational community to pursue teaching and consulting work in foreign affairs. His special interest was the establishment of a world court to arbitrate and prevent atrocities, such as cultural and ethnic genocide. He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Jack R. Howard and Aubrey L. Steele, both of Pampa. Survivors include his parents of Pampa; his sister and brother-in-law of Fort Worth; two grandmothers, Margaret I. Steele of McLean and Leny F. Howard of Pampa; two aunts and an uncle, Jackie and Gene Hess of Littleton, Colo., and Linda Perry of San Antonio; and four cousins and their children. We also shared Josh with many special friends, both young and old. Mrs. Moser was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Beaver County to William Robert and Eva May Davis Ward. She married Wallace Gideon Moser Jr. on Dec. 9, 1944, in Terrell, Texas. Survivors include two nephews, Alfred David Ward of Laverne and Orval L. Ward of Clinton; and two nieces, Ava Herzer of Laverne and Ila Ward of Perryton, Texas. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Forest Grove Cemetery in Telephone. Arrangements are by Dalton and Son Funeral Home. Mrs. Fox passed away at home in Lewisville after a short, hard-fought battle with cancer. She was strong and never gave up her beautiful smile and love. Sherril was born in Perryton on Oct. 8, 1953, to Walter and Virginia Thrasher. Sherril was a beautiful and loving woman and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Sherril became a Christian at an early age and was fully prepared to meet her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her father and an infant brother. Survivors include her husband, Michael; her mother of Perryton; a son, Thomas Lynn Montgomery and wife, Leigh Anne, of Durant, Okla.; a daughter, Michelle Harriman and husband, David, of Linden, Va.; a brother, Terry Thrasher of Bryan; five grandchildren, Madison, Sidney and Brita Montgomery and Chay and Kaitlin Harriman; two nephews, Ryan and Lane Thrasher; and her loving father- and mother-in-law, Don and Reba Fox of Telephone.
