Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Warford-Walker Mortuary Chapel, 509 N. Hughes St., with the Rev. E.J. Cofer officiating. Mr. Fields was born Jan. 7, 1932. He was raised in Frederick, Okla., and was an Amarillo resident for more than 30 years. Survivors include six cousins. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 7, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Josephine "Jo" Fultz Short Josephine "Jo" Fultz Short, 72, of Amarillo died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Calvin Driskell of Grand Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Short was born in Frenchburg, Ky., on Sept. 20, 1931. She married Harold Short in January 1948. She had lived in Amarillo since 1950 and worked as a maid, a packer for Bekins and a nanny until 2000, when she retired to take care of her husband. She was preceded in death by her husband and a great-granddaughter. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Cornelsen and Ella Holder, both of Amarillo; three sons, Dan Short, Sam Short and Bill Short, all of Amarillo; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Bob Thomas, chaplain of Odyssey Healthcare, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger. Mrs. Mills was born Aug. 24, 1911, in Rotan to David Isaac West and Emma Mae Rushing West. She was a wonderful loving mother to Richard, Earlene, David and John Cathey and Barbara and E.D. Musgraves; her second family, the J.L. Mills children, and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Emma was a Red Cross Lady volunteer for 10 years at North Plains Hospital in Borger and was very active in church. She loved music. She was preceded in death by her husbands, J.E. Cathey and J.L. Mills; a daughter, Earlene, in 1933; a son, John Cathey in 1998; her mother; her father; and eight brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Musgraves and husband, E.D., of Amarillo; two sons, Richard Cathey of Amarillo and David Cathey of Midland; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lackey was born June 8, 1943, in Floydada. She married Rex Lackey in 1960. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Kaden was born May 21, 2004, in Amarillo. He passed from this life on Sept. 3, 2004, at the young age of 3 months. Survivors include his mother; his father; a brother, Gunner Irwin; his grandparents, Patricia Brumbalow and Carol and Benny Sherwood; his aunt and uncles, Holly and Fred Follmer and Beau Sherwood; and five cousins. Buescher Hathcock Elda A. Buescher Hathcock, 92, of Amarillo died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert T. Kuhlmann and the Rev. Brian Hesse officiating. Private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Hathcock went to be with the Lord on Sept. 5, 2004. She was born Dec. 6, 1911, in Randolph County, Ill., to Henry C. and Mary Moeller. Elda married Clarence Buescher on July 23, 1936. They had one son, Wayne Buescher. Clarence passed away on Feb. 14, 1958. She married Thomas Hathcock on Nov. 3, 1962. He passed away on Aug. 30, 1988. Elda, a lifelong Lutheran, enjoyed reading, especially poetry, and music. She was a member of the church choir and had a beautiful, powerful voice that she enjoyed using to praise her Lord. Elda retired from the Sperry and Hutchenson Co. at the age of 65. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include a son, Wayne Buescher and wife, Sue, of Amarillo; two grandsons, Mike Buescher and wife, Teri, of Amarillo and Ron Buescher and wife, Juton, of Helotes; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jordan, Brittani and Kaitlyn Buescher; and a sister, Ardell Henke of Anacortes, Wash. She was a homemaker, caregiver and member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Donald Ritter. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Wood and Patricia Tucker and husband, Michael, all of Amarillo; a son, Mark Wood of Blooming Grove; a sister, Arlene Wallace of Amarillo; and four grandchildren, Jason Wood and wife, April, Andrew Tucker, Tim Tucker and Patrick Tucker. Mrs. Chockley was born Dec. 2, 1914, in Scotland, Ark., to Birl M. and Altha Stroud Painter. She married Fred Wallace Chockley in Stigler on May 9, 1942. Survivors include two sons, Roger Chockley and Roy Chockley, both of Beaver; a daughter, Otha Chockley McDaniel of Felt; three brothers, Dorn Painter of Bakersfield, Calif., Deon Painter of Rogers, Ark., and Cled Painter of Athens, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Beasley was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Gonzales, Calif., to John Abraham Boekenoogen and Edith Patton Boekenoogen. She married Howard Van Beasley in 1932 in Salinas, Calif. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Garner of Northville, Mich.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 2, 1949, in Quanah, the son of E.J. and Betty Smith Johnson. He was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include his parents of Quanah; two daughters, Brandey Ackerman of Austin and Jamie Wayne Johnson of Midland; two grandchildren; a brother, Johnny Dean of Grapevine; and a stepgrandmother, Kate Vantine. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 7, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Boyd Williams SHAMROCK - Boyd Williams, 82, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, in Wellington. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Rogers and the Rev. Terry Lowe, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Williams was born Dec. 28, 1921, in Bogata to Virgil and Annie Mitchell Williams. He married Martha Kelley on Feb. 28, 1947, in Clovis, N.M. She preceded him in death on March 25, 1988. Mr. Williams was a graduate of Wellington High School with the class of 1940. He was president of the class and participated in football, boxing and track. He was a member of the undefeated regional football team of 1938. Mr. Williams was a founding member of the Rocket House. He attended Baylor University for a year and played football. He joined the Marines during World War II and served at Pearl Harbor. After his discharge, he attended West Texas A&M University, where he played football for four years, was a member of the T Club and received his master's degree. He was a teacher and coach at Panhandle ISD, coaching football, boxing, track and girls basketball. He moved to Shamrock in 1956 and was high school principal from 1956 to 1969 at Shamrock ISD. In 1969, he became superintendent and held that position until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Booster's Club, Wheeler County Retired Teacher's Association and American Legion DeShazo George Post No. 68. He was past chairman of the St. Patrick's Association, a lifetime member of the Texas Retired Teacher's Association and was secretary of the Shamrock Cemetery Association. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he was president of the administrative board and lay leader delegate of the Annual Conference. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, one being his twin, Bryan; and a sister. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Ann Gibson of Amarillo and Beth Hester and husband, Jim, of Canadian; a son, Kelley Williams and wife, Debbie, of Granbury; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Virginia Tubb of Canadian; and a special friend, Betty Cochran and family of Wellington.
