Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with family and friends officiating. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis. Mrs. Bourland was born July 9, 1915, in Atoka, Okla., to Claud and Mary (Roach) Betts. In 1925, the family moved to Bovina. Later, the family moved to Hall County where she attended school. She married Cliff Burnett in 1932. He preceded her in death in 1960. She then moved with her mother to Ennis, where she was co-owner of Amelia Ann Florist with her sister-in-law, Dorothy Betts. In 1973, she married Fred Bourland of Quail. They lived in Ennis until 2000, at which time they moved to San Angelo. Following Fred's death in 2002, she moved to Ware Center in Amarillo. Mrs. Bourland was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and had unwavering faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. In her retirement, she developed her painting skills, which focused on birds. She was preceded in death by her parents; two spouses; and two brothers, Dick Betts and Dwight Betts. Survivors include four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Betts of Ennis, Lucille Burnett of Memphis, Clara Holcomb of Wheeler and Ara Burnett of Carlsbad, N.M.; two nephews, Dwight Betts and wife, Nancy, of Dallas and John Clifton Holcomb and family of Wheeler; a great-niece and nephew, Jolee and Jake Betts of Dallas; two nieces, Mary Anthony and husband, Bill, of Amarillo and Audra Beth Garland and husband, Jimmy, of Goodnight; three stepdaughters, Fredda Schooler and husband, Van, of Morton, Lynn White and husband, David, of College Station and Beth Holtz and husband, Steve, of San Angelo; four grandchildren, Matt Schooler of Friendswood, Sallye and Dan Jeter of Arlington, Amy Holtz of Greenville and Tonya and Chris Fikes of Kerrville; and two great-grandsons, Van Jeter and Corbin Fikes. Cathey Jr. Raymond L. "R.L." Cathey Jr., 86, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Gordonville Cemetery in Gordonville. Arrangements are by Huff Funeral Home of Whitesboro and Schooler Funeral Home of Amarillo, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Cathey was born July 12, 1918, in Ladonia to the late Raymond Lafayette Cathey Sr. and Arcilla Young Cathey. He married Mavis Chambers on June 5, 1949, in Ladonia. He worked in the oil field as a pumper and in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He served for a year in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, and in San Francisco, Pearl Harbor and Tionion, where he helped build a large air base. Then he went to Okinawa and remained there until the end of the war in 1945. He was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald Cathey and wife, Margie, and Gary Cathey and wife, Bunny, all of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Boeshart was a native of Port Clinton, Ohio, and had lived in Turkey for the past several years. Survivors include his mother, Joyce Boeshart of Port Clinton; and a sister, Kathy Estep of Port Clinton. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Barton officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Lamb was born Dec. 24, 1932, in Oklahoma City. She had lived in the area since 1946, moving from Lubbock. She married James M. Lamb on July 10, 1951, in Las Cruces, N.M. She was a homemaker and an avid bridge player. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003. Survivors include two daughters, Pat Rogers of Oklahoma City and Lisa Gladney of Houston; a son, Jimmy Lamb of Eaton, Colo.; a sister, Betty Jo Alloway of Okmulgee, Okla.; a cousin, Jerry Miller of Longview; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Higgins Cemetery with Bobby Miller officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Gourley was born Oct. 15, 1940, in Alva, Okla. He worked for Diamond Shamrock for 15 years and was a veteran of the Army. Survivors include two daughters, Tina Sparks of Perryton and Jennifer Graddy of Wichita Falls; a brother, Gary Gourley of Coppell; two sisters, Vina Sullivan of Florida and Ruth Lee of Canute, Okla.; and six grandchildren. Wallace Sullivan, 75, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mrs. Sullivan was born July 16, 1929, in Dalhart. She owned and operated Music Max in Sierra Vista. Survivors include a son, Guy Leavell of Sierra Vista; three daughters, Jeanene Petrone and Tracy Sullivan, both of Sierra Vista, and Sandra Cravens of Sedonia; a brother, Cloys "Boog" Wallace of Dalhart; two sisters, Geraldine Van Wormer of Littleton, Colo., and Carolyn Warrell of Tempe, Ariz.; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild. "Bud" Vandiver, 93, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Vandiver was born Nov. 17, 1910, in Butler, Okla. He farmed and ranched in Sedan, where he lived most of his life. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Arlene McGowen of Sedan; a sister, Lena Hays of Dalhart, Texas; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Kenton Cemetery in Kenton, Okla., with the Rev. Danny Shuffield officiating. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Phillips, pastor, and the Rev. Danny Shuffield officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Briant was born June 27, 1916, near May, Okla., to Theo Briant and Gussie (Ishmael) Briant. He graduated from high school in May and joined the Army, where he served during World War II. He married Shirley Wiggins on Jan. 30, 1964, in Boise City, Okla. They lived in Amarillo, Texas, and Shallowater, Texas, before moving to the family ranch near Kenton in 1978. They later moved to Clayton in 1985. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Earl Briant; a sister, Rosetta Schneider; and an infant son, Richard Earl Briant. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Joy Shuffield and husband, Loyd, and Ramona Rollins and husband, Jimmy, all of Amarillo, and Gayle Owens and husband, Buz, of Grapevine; three sons, William Briant and wife, Ruth, of Amarillo, George Briant and wife, Beth, of Canadian, Texas, and Scott Briant of Dalhart, Texas; two brothers, Kenneth Briant and wife, Veta, of Fort Supply, Okla., and Gary Briant and wife, Pat, of Carrollton, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
