Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Groom with the Rev. John Gillespie and the Rev. David Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. McWhirter was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Conway to Ray and Ida Calliham. She attended school in Conway and graduated from Panhandle High School in 1941. She attended West Texas State University and worked at the Conway Fuel Association. Mildred was married to Billy J. Burgin from March 15, 1944, until his death on Feb. 15, 1987. They raised four children on their family farm near Groom. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she was involved with teaching, choir and missionary work that took her to Korea in 1973. She was a homemaker and was involved in her children's activities. Her hobbies included gardening, painting and sewing. She quietly performed kind deeds, seeking no recognition. In 1995 she married Bill McWhirter and lived in Amarillo until her death. She was preceded in death by her first husband; a grandson, Curt Downs; a brother, Marvin Calliham; and a sister, Thelma Vollmer. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Dondra Downs and husband, Curtis, of Groom and Lenora Nepper and husband, Gaylon, of Brownwood; two sons, Johnny Burgin of Amarillo and Donald Burgin and wife, Nila, of Groom; a stepson, Gene McWhirter of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Melba Miller and Opal Herndon; two brothers, Melvin Calliham and Max Calliham; nine grandchildren, Denai Vaughn, Collin Downs, John and Kristi Nepper, Bo Burgin, Toby Burgin, Brin Burgin and Luke and Jessica McWhirter; and three great- grandchildren. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Misfeldt was born in Princeton, Ill., on Feb. 5, 1929, and raised in Ohio, Ill. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Davenport, Iowa, in 1950. Margaret married J.R. Misfeldt in 1952. She moved to Amarillo in 1959. Margaret worked as a registered nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital for 30 years before retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and did volunteer work for Catholic Family Service. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978; and a son-in-law, Ricky Don Dawson in 1989. Mr. Winsett was born June 27, 1913, in Higgins to pioneer family Ansley Maxwell Winsett and Emma Ewing Winsett. He attended Higgins Public Schools, Amarillo College and graduated from West Texas University. He was a longtime Amarillo resident. Mr. Winsett was associated with Clowe and Cowan Co. in Roswell, N.M., Lubbock and Amarillo. He was a lifetime member of Rotary Club. He was a member of Amarillo Country Club and First Presbyterian Church. He was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his dear wife, Charla Mae Carpenter Winsett on Jan. 14, 2004; twin daughters, Frances and Ann Winsett; his brother, Dr. Amos Ewing Winsett; and a nephew, Dr. Ewing Merrill Winsett. Mr. Mulherin was born Jan. 6, 1927, to Jess and Babe Mulherin in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1945 and Amarillo College in 1948. He served in the Army in 1945 and was a World War II veteran. He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1952 in Korea. He married Wanda Mazurek on Feb. 21, 1950. They were married 54 years. He was in business for 40 years with Acme Plumbing. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Julie McCollum and husband, Max, of Amarillo; a son, Robert Mulherin Jr. of Amarillo; two brothers, Guy Mulherin of Amarillo and David Mulherin of Conroe; a sister, Darlene Bateman of Midland; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
