Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. today in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church with Monsignor Joseph Tash officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Adams was born May 7, 1952, in Oklahoma City. She attended Midwest City High School. She went on to attend Oscar Rose Junior College, where she earned an associate's degree for medical laboratory technician. She worked as a laboratory tech in Oklahoma, Texas and Florida for more than 25 years. She resided with her father for the past nine years due to health problems. She attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her mother. Survivors include her father, Frank Barra of Amarillo; a son, Aaron Haughey of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Tristan, Chance, Alexandra and Ashleigh and four stepgrandchildren, all of whom were the loves of her life; a brother, Steven M. Barra of Houston; and a sister, Lydia Shiver of Boulder, Colo. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Prayer Temple Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Mal Carr, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Herman Moore as eulogist. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. The son rose on Robert Esteban Ford on July 10, 1947. Robert was the third son of Mr. J.B. and Lee Una Ford. He attended Hilltop and North Heights Elementary schools and Carver High School. Robert married Thelma Armstrong of Wellington and to this union three children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Milligan. Survivors include his children, Lacatherine Watkins of Dallas, Michelle Lindsey of Wellington, Kendall Ford of Kansas City, Mo., Timothy Tinner and Kendrick Hardy, both of Amarillo, Stephanie Lee of Canyon and Robert Butler of Houston; his stepchildren, Teresa Tinner of Canyon, Rodney Tinner of Amarillo and Leonard Tinner and Luicrica Jones, both of Lubbock; two sisters, Oma Martin of Arlington and Lila Mitchell of Amarillo; two brothers, Elmer Ford of Amarillo and Eddie Mims of Albuquerque, N.M.; a special friend, Beth McDonald of Amarillo; a favorite aunt, Rose Green of Amarillo; and 21 grandchildren. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Hoarel moved to Amarillo in 1943 from Oklahoma. She was a retired waitress. She married Louis F. Hoarel, who preceded her in death in 1965. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Staetz of Amarillo; two sisters, Ruby Cureton of Muldrow, Okla., and Wanda Lee Boyd of Sallisaw, Okla.; a brother, T.J. Lowery of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Carolyn Lewis of Amarillo and Wendy M. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 15, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alfred W. Allston Alfred W. Allston, 87, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Perry Hunsaker officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery Mr. Allston was born July 20, 1917, near Palasca, Hall County. He was a son of William Allston and Rosa Belle Hale Allston. The Allston family moved from Hall County to a farm north of McLean on Jan. 1, 1918, and moved to Amarillo in 1925. Alfred graduated from Amarillo High School in 1936. He married Maurene Walker on May 20, 1939, and they were parents of one daughter, Glenda Jo, born Dec. 27, 1953, in Lubbock. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Air Corps 14th Air Force in China and later with headquarters division of the China Theater of Operations in Shanghai, China. Mr. Allston spent his working years in the wholesale grocery business in Amarillo and Lubbock. He was general manager of South Plains Associated Grocers of Lubbock until 1968 at which time it and Panhandle Associated Grocers were combined to form Affiliated Foods of Amarillo where he served as assistant general manager until his retirement in 1982. During this time, he served on the board of directors as chairman of Shurfine Foods of Chicago and Viking Bag Co. of Pine Bluff, Ark. He also served with the local Chapter of The Service Corps of retired executives as a member and a chairman. Mr. Allston was involved in many civic functions in both Amarillo and Lubbock. He served on the Chamber of Commerce Traffic Committee in both cities and was appointed to the Emergency Food Counsel by the governor of Texas. He also served on the board of the Lubbock Chapter of the Salvation Army and was a member of the ad-hoc committee to organize the Food Bank of Amarillo. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he served on the official board and was a member of the Christian Worker Class, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and as class president. He was a member of the Amarillo Masonic Lodge and past member of the Khiva Temple Shrine and was a charter member of the Lubbock Scottish Rite. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Jo Vandagriff and husband, Jack, of Amarillo; two grandsons, Noah Vandagriff and wife, Amanda, and Seth Vandagriff, all of Amarillo; a great-grandson, Christian Walker Vandagriff of Amarillo; a sister, Catherine McCollum of New Braunfels; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Maness of Amarillo; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Otho and Perky Foster and Doug and Carolyn Miller, all of Amarillo. Mr. Winsett was born June 27, 1913, in Higgins to pioneer family Ansley Maxwell Winsett and Emma Ewing Winsett. He attended Higgins Public Schools, Amarillo College and graduated from West Texas University. He was a longtime Amarillo resident. Mr. Winsett was associated with Clowe and Cowan Co. in Roswell, N.M., Lubbock and Amarillo. He was a lifetime member of Rotary Club. He was a member of Amarillo Country Club and First Presbyterian Church. He was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his dear wife, Charla Mae Carpenter Winsett on Jan. 14, 2004; twin daughters, Frances and Ann Winsett; his brother, Dr. Amos Ewing Winsett; and a nephew, Dr. Ewing Merrill Winsett. She was a waitress, working for many years at Krahn's Restaurant in Vega, and was a member of the Church of Christ in Vega. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jessie Frances Leak; second husband, Claude Cox; and a daughter, Mary Forbus.
