Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Rockwell Road Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Richardson and the Rev. Rick Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Andrews was born in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Asher High School in Asher, Okla., in 1988. He married Toni Small in Amarillo on July 31, 1992. He worked as a truck driver for Lake Steel for four years. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Courtnie Andrews of Amarillo; two sons, Tanner and J'Dyn Andrews of Amarillo; his parents, Stan and Vickie Andrews of Pampa; a sister, Tamara Scaccia of Caledonia, Ill.; his grandparents, Henry and Irene Allen and Lee Andrews, all of Ada, Okla.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Mr. Corea served in the Army during World War II. He was an illustrator for the Amarillo Air Force Base and at Pantex where he retired in 1993. He was an avid golfer. He married Keith Duffel on Sept. 11, 1944, at Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by a son, Charley Corea; a brother, Sammy Corea; and a sister, Angie Corea. Mrs. Post was born and raised in Amarillo. She married Ronnie Post on Jan. 12, 1970, in Liberal, Kan. Mrs. Post was an accomplished oil painter and a loving wife, mom and granny "Nana." She loved the outdoors and gardening. She was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Krobot; and a brother, J.D. "Jack" Lockridge. Osage St. Mr. Hightower was born in Childress to Limiel Derwood Hightower and Mary Etta Hays Hightower. After graduation from Childress High School, he served in the Navy aboard the USS Yorktown. Mr. Hightower married Jolene Dale Babitzke on Sept. 15, 1956, in Lipscomb. They lived in Amarillo where he worked as a carpenter and built homes. He worked for National Cash Register and Pantex. He and Jolene owned and operated Hightower Cash Register for more than 20 years. He farmed in Childress and Donley counties. Mr. Hightower enjoyed fishing, particularly in the past few years. He was a Mason and a member of Clarendon Lodge No. 700, as well as a member of VFW Post 7782. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, L.F. Hightower. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jakie L. of Amarillo, Farris K. and wife, Monica, of Lubbock and Barry D. and wife, Becky, of Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Bobbie Dale Kerrigan and husband, Everett, and Judy G. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Regi Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East. Mr. Taylor was born in Slaton, the son of William Thomas and Nettie Byrom Taylor. Early in life, he acquired the nickname "Tinker" from a local businessman who quoted the old nursey rhyme, "Tinker, Tailor, Cowboy, Sailor." The name stuck and he was "Tinker" to his family, co-workers and many friends. He served in the Navy during World War II and upon his discharge, he returned to Slaton to work in the general offices of Santa Fe Railraod. He was transferred to Amarillo in 1967 and retired as assistant right of way agent in 1986. After overcoming years of adversity, Tinker had become devoted to his friends, family and life. He enjoyed coffee at the Donut Stop with his fellow retirees, high school football, family holidays with all the trimmings and sharing long talks with friends on his front porch. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Jewell Taylor, Omega Pounds and Bonnie Jones. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 26, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- A.R. Dillard HEREFORD - A.R. Dillard, 89, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Central Church of Christ in Hereford with close friends Denzel Pulliam, Alton Hollingsworth and Leonard Wagner officiating. Arrangements are by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mr. Dillard was born in Ricardo to Albert Ross and Pearl Vinson Dillard on Oct. 30, 1914, and was raised in the Abilene area. He graduated from high school in 1935 from Clyde and attended Sul Ross University at Alpine on a football scholarship. After college he worked for mining companies in the western United States, including Alaska. In 1942, he was drafted into the Army from Palmer, Alaska. A.R. trained in tanks at Fort Knox, Ky., and then was offered the opportunity to go to Officers Training School. He was sent to Camp McCoy, Wis., that October. It was there that he learned of the shortage of strategic metals for the war effort and was given the opportunity to better serve his country by mining. He hired out to Anaconda Mining Co. and spent the war years in Arizona mining copper. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and moved to Floyd, N.M., to farm with his father. They later drilled the first irrigation well in that area. A.R. married Melba Wood, his wife of 57 years, on Nov. 24, 1946 in Sudan. This created a unique family unit, as his brother, Farris, had married Melba's sister, Zelma, in 1940. A.R. and Melba moved to Hereford in 1952 and have been engaged in farming, cattle feeding, mining and oil exploration. They still maintain their family home in Hereford. He was a member of Central Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and then as an elder for more than 20 years. A.R. will be remembered for his dedication to the church and his love for the Lord. He lived for his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and proud great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; a brother; and two nephews and nieces. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Glenda Sue Tiner of Baytown; a son, Gary and wife, Carol, of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; a granddaughter, Amberly Tiner Allen and husband, Brent, of Austin; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Skye Allen; a sister-in-law, Zelma Dillard Sandlin of Carlsbad, N.M.; a nephew, John Dillard and wife, Celia, of Carlsbad, N.M.; a niece, Barbara McCallon and husband, Landy, of Sierra Madre, Calif.; and his special companion and favorite topic of discussion, Buddy, a cat he rescued. Mrs. Huntley was born in Twitty. She was a resident of Shamrock for 40 years. She was married to Thomas Huntley for 20 years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to sew, travel and cook, but most of all she loved being with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband; seven brothers, Tommie, Otis, Lloyd, G.C., Freeman, Floyd and Bully Tate; and two sisters, Eula Fae Stokes and Irene Mitchell. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with Mr. Loran Harper and Mr. Michael Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Meadows was born in Chicago on Jan. 28, 1917, to Blanche Taylor Meadows and Jesse Williams Meadows. Laurel moved with her family to Las Vegas, N.M., in 1930, graduating from high school there. She attended Highlands University, graduating with a bachelor of arts degree with a major in English in 1941. She taught school in Farmington, N.M., and in Madrid, N.M., for several years. In the early 1950s, Laurel moved to Amarillo and attended Northwest Texas Nursing School. She worked in hospitals in Denver until 1974 when she moved to Borger. Laurel worked in the pediatrics area during her nusing career. Laurel cared for her mother until her death in 1982, with the help of her sister, June Brownlee. She was very active in First Christian Church in Borger, working with young people, tutoring and babysitting. She was active in the Genealogy Club and the writers group. She wrote poetry and stories about her teaching and nursing careers. While living at the Continental Retirement Center in Amarillo, she wrote articles and poems for their monthly news letter and was active in the residentsÕ panel helping make policies better fit the living arrangements. She continued tutoring children in Amarillo, and volunteering at the Episcopal preschool. She was a survivor of breast cancer and participated in the cancer center activities. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, June Brownlee; her brother, Lionel Meadows; and several nephews. Survivors include two brothers, Jesse Winfield Meadows of Livermore, Calif., and Robert A. Meadows of Albuquerque, N.M.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Mrs. Berry was born July 29, 1925, to James and Lettie Looper in Paden, Okla. She married Horace Berry in 1949. The couple owned Berry Realtors in Midland and operated as Realtors for more than 20 years. She was involved as a volunteer for Rainbows and Hospice of Midland after she retired from real estate. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and seven siblings. Survivors include a son; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
