Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. F.M. Byford of Paramount Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Restlawn Cemetery in Hereford. Mr. Caddell was born in Quanah. He served in World War II. Mr. Caddell retired from Amarillo Independent School District. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. Survivors include two nieces, Gay Herring and husband, Banty, and Joyce Wells and husband, Raymond, all of Amarillo; two great-nieces, Cheri Roberts and Ramona Pike, both of Amarillo; and a great-nephew, Eugene Wells of Amarillo. Michael Richard DeVaughn, 45, of Amarillo died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004. Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. today in Carter Chapel C.M.E. Church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. The Rev. DeVaughn was born July 6, 1959, in Boston, to Ludie David and Rose Anna DeVaughn. He lived in Amarillo for 12 years, where he was the pastor of Carter Chapel C.M.E. Church. He was a graduate of SMU and was working on his doctorate at the time of his death. He was a member of the Amarillo Opera, Amarillo Ministers Alliance, past director of Amarillo United Citizen Forum, secretary of Northwest Texas C.M.E. Conference, Planned Parenthood, United Way, YES Program and many other organizations. He was preceded in death by his mother. Survivors include his father of Boston; a sister, Faith DeVaughn of Durham, N.C.; a brother, David DeVaughn of Boston; a foster son, Terrance Moody of El Paso; an adopted brother, Mr. Green of Amarillo; his church family; and a host of special friends. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Christian Church in Stratford with Walter Reed, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers at Stratford. Mr. Garoutte was a graduate of Stratford High School and owned and operated his own hair styling salon in Amarillo. He was a member of First Christian Church of Stratford. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Garoutte on Oct. 12, 1996. Survivors include his mother, Orlanda Garoutte of Stratford; two sisters, Gara Harbour of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Jolina Kline of Fort Wayne, Ind.; his grandmother, Joyce Ann Lasley of Stratford; and four nephews, Aaron Harbour, Dallas Harbour, Jacob Kline and Jackson Kline. Bell St. Mr. Darter was born in Bonham on May 5, 1933, to Harry and Faye Darter. He attended Amarillo High School and played football. He served in the Air Force. He worked for Northwest Texas Hospital as a respiratory technician and at Bivins Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include two sons, Michael Kenyon Darter of Amarillo and Dwain Ames Darter of Surprise, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and many friends who will miss him dearly. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. O'Neal graduated from Clarendon High School in 1932. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Dorothy Scott in Englewood, Calif., in 1946. He and his family moved to Amarillo in 1957. Mr. O'Neal worked for National Life Insurance until going to work for Bell Helicopter. He retired from Bell Helicopter after 11 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, playing golf and also loved the mountains. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike O'Neal and wife, Debby, of Amarillo; two grandsons, Mark O'Neal and wife, Carla, and Ryan O'Neal and wife, Becky, all of Amarillo; and five great-grandchildren, Ansley, Hunter, Addison, MaKenna and Brody. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Stidger was born Feb. 28, 1941, in Amarillo. He began working as a draftsman for Southwestern Public Service and retired after 32 years of service from Utility Engineering. He married Patricia Arrington in Lubbock on June 15, 1961. He was preceded in death by his father, Ladyn H. Stidger in 1998; and a brother, Thomas Lee Stidger in 1991. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Terry Stidger and wife, Cindy, Randy Stidger and wife, Toni, and Ricky Stidger, all of Amarillo; his mother, Trula Mae Stidger of Grand Prairie; a brother, Allen Stidger and wife, Wanda, of Weatherford; two sisters, Lalah Weir of Denham Springs, La., and Ann Dolberry and husband, Ken, of Grand Prairie. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 27, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Thomas "Tinker" Taylor William Thomas "Tinker" Taylor, 77, of Amarillo died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Regi Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East. Mr. Taylor was born in Slaton, the son of William Thomas and Nettie Byrom Taylor. Early in life, he acquired the nickname "Tinker" from a local businessman who quoted the old nursery rhyme, "Tinker, Tailor, Cowboy, Sailor." The name stuck and he was "Tinker" to his family, co-workers and many friends. He served in the Navy during World War II and upon his discharge, he returned to Slaton to work in the general offices of Santa Fe Railroad. He was transferred to Amarillo in 1967 and retired as assistant right of way agent in 1986. After overcoming years of adversity, Tinker had become devoted to his friends, family and life. He enjoyed coffee at the Donut Stop with his fellow retirees, high school football, family holidays with all the trimmings and sharing long talks with friends on his front porch. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Jewell Taylor, Omega Pounds and Bonnie Jones. Survivors include a son, Tommy Taylor and wife, Linda, of Amarillo; a daughter, Renee Gribbon and husband, Danny, of New Braunfels; his former wife and lifelong friend, Juanita Taylor of Amarillo; a sister, Jerry Stotts of Lubbock; a brother, Bobby Taylor of Silsbee; five grandchildren, Teresa Taylor Nash and husband, Micah, David Gribbon, Chris Taylor, Michael Gribbon and Sara Gribbon; a great-grandchild, Rien Nash; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Coffman was born June 1, 1909, in Brown County. She married Claud S. Coffman on Dec. 7, 1924, in Baileyboro. Survivors include two daughters, Maudie Mudford of Mountain Home, Ark., and Jeannine Rundell of San Angelo; two sisters, Lois Weatherspoon and Freda Shuttlesworth, both of Lubbock; two brothers, Roger Harvey of Amarillo and Rudolph Harvey of Katie; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 27, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeanette Fish ALANREED - Jeanette Fish, 71, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, in McLean. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Alanreed Cemetery with Jim Reyna, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Bailey-Ware Funeral Home. Mrs. Fish was born July 17, 1933, in Dallas, to Lonzo Paul and Ganelle Fort. The family moved to Alanreed in 1948. While in Alanreed, Jeanette met and married her late husband, Sanford Cletis "Bob" Fish, on Dec. 12, 1949. They had three children. In 1964, the family moved to Los Angeles. While living in California, Jeanette pursued her degree in nursing and became a registered nurse. Upon moving back to the Texas Panhandle, Jeanette worked at the McLean Hospital, Highland General Hospital in Pampa and at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. In 1992, she helped establish McLean Home Health Agency. Her talents as a writer led her to be editor of the "Lefors Progress News" in 1963, and writing and publishing "The Alanreed-Mclean-Lefors News." She was also a former member of the Panhandle Pen Women. Jeanette also kept many journals at home of her writings because she felt it was important to write things down to capture for the future a fraction of the events, ideas, and activities that shape a lifetime and make us who we are. She was preceded in death by her husband; and a son, Joe Fish. Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Swanson and husband, Larry, of McLean; a son, Dan Fish and wife, Sasha, of Alanreed; four grandchildren, Ryan Swanson of Amarillo, Taylor Fish and Parker Fish, both of Alanreed, and Tony and Amy Polito of Clarendon; a brother, Mike Fort; a sister, Kay Swart of Amarillo; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Copeland was born in Childress on Jan. 26, 1914, to William and Maggie Hill. She was raised in Terry County near Brownfield, and graduated from Childress High School. She married Kenneth Lee Copeland on April 1, 1939, and they moved to Amarillo where they lived for 47 years until his death in February 1986. Lillian moved to Longview in 1988, where she was a faithful member of the Longview Church of Christ. She was a longtime member of Central Church of Christ in Amarillo. She was a dedicated employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 42 years. She served as assistant chief operator, and she was a member of Telephone Company Pioneers of America. Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Copeland Grimes of Longview; a brother, Joe Hill and wife, Lena, of New Orleans; three grandchildren, Christy Milton and husband, Scott, of Amarillo, Julie Bottcher and husband, Chris, of Birmingham, Ala., and Catharine Polsky and husband, Bruce, of New York City; five great grandchildren, Amelia, Audrey, and Ashlyn Milton, Matthew Bottcher and Sylvie Polsky; and four nieces, Lucille Fowler and Marie Wilson both of Longview, Ellen Bearden and husband, Homer, of Brownfield and Velda Wychoff and husband, Myron, of Carmel Valley, Calif. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 27, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dale Lacewell BRYAN - Dale Lacewell, 89, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church of Plainview with the Rev. Travis Hart officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview and Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan. Mr. Lacewell was a lifelong resident of West Texas and eastern New Mexico. Mr. Lacewell was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Hamilton, to Windsor and Ina Lacewell. His early childhood was spent near Tulia until the family moved to eastern New Mexico. Mr. Lacewell was baptized at age 12 in Tulia. He left the family farm to enroll in college in western Oklahoma, working at the college dairy and a local caf. From there he joined the CCC during the depression, working on government sponsored projects in the Lubbock vicinity. On Jan. 1, 1939, Dale married Maysel Faye Terrell in Plainview. After working around Dumas, they purchased a farm in the Irick Community of Floyd County. They lived in the Irick Community from 1945 to 1963 when they moved to Plainview. Their farming interest included land in Floyd and Hale County. Dale retired in 1980 and concentrated on his love of golf, which he enjoyed until his late 80s. He was preceded in death by his wives, Maysel in 1998 and Flossie in 2003; two sisters, Inez and Mardee; and two brothers, Boone and Rorex. Survivors include two sons, Ron Lacewell and wife, Jane, of College Station and Randy Lacewell and wife, Sharon, of Norman, Okla.; a daughter, Lauretta Langley and husband, Mark, of Billings, Mont.; eight grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Billie Parton of Hereford and Rudene Crowley of Farwell; and one brother, Windsor "Lace" Lacewell of Ruidoso, N.M.
