Brazeau Charles F. Brazeau, 85, of Amarillo died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Sister Mary Morrissey of Odyssey Healthcare officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Brazeau was born in North Adams, Mass. He served in the Army during World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He married Sarita Baez Lozada in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, on Nov. 23, 1968. Charlie loved to make people laugh. He always had a joke ready and was a terrific story teller. For years he enjoyed coffee and doughnuts in the mornings at the Donut Stop. He was a avid sports watcher and loved the Red Sox and cheap beer. For years the highlight of his day was to pick "grand babies" up from school. He took them swimming in the summer and for special appearances at the Donut Stop. He loved his beautiful "Honeysito." Charlie was quite a man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Chuck Brazeau of Amarillo and Vinnie Brazeau Sr. of Pittsfield, Mass.; a special daughter, Shelia Smith of Amarillo; two sisters, Roma Morris and Beatrice Bissaillon, both of North Adams, Mass.; four brothers, Edmond Brazeau, Peter Brazeau, Paul Brazeau and Francis Brazeau, all of North Adams; five grandchildren, Amanda and Rebecca Schmitkons, both of Amarillo, Tondra Wellspeak, Sarah Lioncini and Vinnie Brazeau Jr., all of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren; a special niece, Bernice Schwartz of Austin; and many other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hodges was born Nov. 20, 1955, in Amarillo and left to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday morning. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a registered nurse. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Preciado was born in El Paso but had been a lifelong resident of Amarillo, graduating from Caprock High School. He had been a great basketball player and was active in the YMCA and Maverick Boys Club. He was proud of being a feeder driver and having worked for UPS. He was a fan of the Lakers, Vikings and Cowboys and his favorite number was 44. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Preciado; and a sister, Aurora Ramirez. Mr. Mills was born Sept. 1, 1917, in Munday, to John and Lucy Mills. Mr. Mills grew up in Roswell, N.M., and had lived in Silverton six years before moving to Farwell in 1957, where he was office manager for Parmer County ASCS until his retirement. Mr. Mills was a member of Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge in Bovina for more than 25 years and Texico Farwell Rotary Club. He married La Von Bailey on June 29, 1939, in Roswell. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 4, 2004. Mr. Lewis, son of Hershel and Esther Lewis of Borger, was born Dec. 11, 1953, in Borger. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1972, and married Karen Garrett, of Tulia on July 25, 1981. He graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech University in 1975, receiving a degree in political science. He was a member of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and was in Who's Who in American Colleges Universities. He graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1979 with a doctor of jurisprudence. He was a practicing attorney in Amarillo. He had also been an assistant Wheeler County attorney, a Sherman County attorney, a Moore County court-at-law judge, and was an instructor for Amarillo College. He was a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association. He was a member of CASA 69 Inc. and Moore County Child Protective Services Board, and was awarded Outstanding Young Men of America, 1982. He was an active member of Dumas Chamber of Commerce, Dumas Noon Lions Club, Dumas Discovery Center Board Member, former president of the Dumas and Moore County United Way, chairman of Safe Place Inc., member of the First Baptist Church in Dumas, teaching the Adult IV Sunday school class, and was active in the sanctuary choir and an adult ensemble. He was organizer and advisor of the Moore County Teen Court, was on the board of directors for the Dumas Community Education Advisory Council, and was a district chairman of Golden Spread Council of the Boy Scouts of America from 1986 to 1993. We know that you are in heaven and smiling at us as we have tried to make our way through life without you. Your love and devotion have been missed so very much. Mr. Baxter was a farmer and cattleman, an avid collector of western relics and was especially proud of his spur collections. He attended VA Agriculture College and married Naoma Howeth in Fairview, Okla., in 1939. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and was in the third wave to invade Iwo Jima. He received the Purple Heart. He farmed and ranched in Randall County since 1958. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003; and nine brothers and sisters. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Rathbone and her twin brother, Donald Moore, were born July 24, 1911, in Gainesville to Cyrus and Annie (Lewis) Moore. They moved to Texhoma, Okla., that year and in 1920 they moved to Dalhart to farm south of town. Dorothy graduated from Dalhart High School in 1930 and recently attended her 74th high school reunion. She married Edward Theiner in 1930 and made her home in Dalhart where their daughter, Donna, was born before moving to Hooker, Okla, where they lived until Edward died. Dorothy returned to Dalhart to care for her father, who died in 1963. She later married Lloyd Rathbone. Dorothy was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and Legion of Mary. She loved being a homemaker and people everywhere would come to "Dot's Kitchen" for the most incredible fried chicken and homemade pies, made especially for them. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Edward Theiner and Lloyd Rathbone; a granddaughter, Julie Stefanek; four sisters; and two brothers. Mr. Fanning was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Alvarado, the son of Bartley and Artilia Fanning. He was retired from the agricultural industries in and around Hereford. Mr. Fanning was a veteran, having served in the Army Tank Corps during World War II as a tech sergeant with the 782nd tank battalion. He was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Fanning married his wife of 54 years, Sue Ruark in 1950 in Roswell, N.M., and loved to read, watch sports and go camping. Mr. Fanning was a member of the Hereford Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by a brother. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Fanning of Hereford; a daughter, Rhonda Wood and husband, Randy Sr., of Brownfield; three brothers, B.D. He married Barbara Florence Wolf on April 1, 1949, in Gate. Mr. Shipley was born Dec. 4, 1955, in Hereford. He was a 1974 graduate of Hereford High School, where he was a member of varsity basketball, National Honor Society, Key Club and Future Business Leaders of Agriculture Economics. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in agriculture economics. While at Tech, he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, Ag Economics Club and Block and Bridle. He met his future wife, Kathy, while at Texas Tech and they married Nov. 28, 1981. He began his career as a stockbroker for E.F. Hutton. He was then employed by Dowell Schlumberger for 18 Years. He was a member of the Greggton United Methodist Church. Gerald's passion in life was his family and coaching softball. He loved and cherished the time he spent on the softball filed coaching young ladies, especially his twin daughters. Gerald was an active member of the Longview Girls Softball Association. He volunteered his time in coaching, competitive fast pitch teams, helping young ladies learn how to pitch and managing softball tournaments. He was never too busy to help someone. He was a wonderful coach and role model who touched countless lives. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview with Russell Harris officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Copeland was born Nov. 16, 1911, in Anson. She attended North Texas State Teachers College and taught school in Jones County. She married Harmon Thomas Copeland on March 19, 1933, in Abilene. They lived in the West Texas area, moving to Tulia in 1947 and to Plainview in 1973. Mrs. Copeland moved to Lubbock in 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 31, 1994; two sisters; six brothers; and a great-grandchild. Survivors include a son, Tom Copeland of Modesto, Calif.; four daughters, Lanelle Dovel of Tulia, Shirley Hodges of Lubbock, Karen Kennedy of Oklahoma City and Martha Gowen of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Bob Hagler of Louisiana; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family suggests memorials be to Children's Home of Lubbock, 4404 Idalou Highway, Lubbock, TX 79403.
