Childers Christine L. Childers, 75, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery with Melvin D. Suttle, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Ms. Childers was born in Flomot on Dec. 28, 1928. She lived in Fort Sumner, N.M., before moving to Amarillo. She was a member of San Jacinto Assembly of God Church. Christine loved everyone she knew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marden and Bertha Childers; and her loving cousin, Euton Dendy. Mrs. Potter was born April 1, 1938, in Amarillo. She grew up in Dumas and attended Dumas schools. She was the daughter of the late W. R. (Bill) Rutherford and Marguerite Rutherford, longtime editor of the Moore County News. She later attended Texas Women's University in Denton and West Texas State University in Canyon. She returned to Amarillo in 1972. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen O. Potter, who was employed for many years at Hub Clothiers downtown. Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Schuman and husband, David, of Houston; two sisters, Mrs. Margie Stevenson of Amarillo and Mrs. Jane McCane of Granite Shoals; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Randy Rutherford of Dallas; a niece, Mrs. Jeanie Sacia of Amarillo; seven nephews, Will, Greg, Mark, Mike, and Scott Rutherford and Charles McCane, of Dallas, and Keith McCane of Houston; three grandchildren. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Rice was born in Washington, D.C. He had been a resident of Amarillo since 1981. He had worked for Northwest Texas Hospital, Helium Corp., and the veterans hospital. He retired from Corporate Systems where he had been a programmer analyst. Mr. Rice was a veteran of the Air Force. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church and executive director for the Amarillo Bowling Association. Mr. Rice married Sue Mewborn on May 3, 1958, in Abilene. Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Rice and wife, Tino, of Amarillo; a daughter, Shelly Woodfield and husband, Bret, of Albuquerque, N.M.; his mother, Catherine Rice of Alexandria, Va.; his brother, Bill Rice and wife, Sandy, of Alexandria; and five grandchildren, Michaela Rice, Miranda Rice, David Rice, Megan Woodfield and Kelsey Woodfield; and two nephews, Jason Rice and Ryan Rice. Williamson-Moore, 89, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, in Bryan. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum with the Rev. Byron Williamson officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Williamson-Moore was born July 26, 1915, in Wise County, near Decatur. She was the second of nine children born to Claude L. and Irene Mae Fugate Williamson. Graduating from Floydada High School in 1933, she and her sisters, Hazel and Dorothy, began a singing career that eventually would encompass the entire family. When asked by those closest to her what their fondest memories were, the word "music" would always surface. She spent countless hours sitting at a piano, singing songs of the Big Band Era and other family favorites. Her interests and activities included singing in the San Jacinto Methodist Church Choir, Order of the Eastern Star, Khiva Shrine Temple and the Khiva Klowns Ladies. She was the ideal mother and grandmother who offered her love unconditionally and was always there to listen. She always put herself last and her family first. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion W. Moore; her parents; and her sisters and brothers, Hazel Davis, Jack Williamson, C.L. Williamson, Bobby Williamson, Dorothy Armstrong and Jerry Scales. Mrs. Leatherman was born Aug. 1, 1913, in Grand, Okla. She married Robert Warren Leatherman on Dec. 22, 1934, in Beaver, Okla. She had lived in Plainview since 1998, coming from Perryton. She graduated from Perryton High School in 1930. She farmed in Ochiltree County for more than 60 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a son, John Charles "Johnny" Norfleet on April 26, 1998.
