Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Jack Blease officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton. Mrs. Harris was born in Amarillo and graduated from Perryton High School. She then graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in education and later earned her master's in library science at Oklahoma University. She married Phil Harris in 1970. She had lived, taught and been a librarian in many communities, including Yukon, Denver, Dallas, Canadian, Perryton and Booker. She retired from Paramount Terrace School after being the head librarian for more than 20 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Crum. Survivors include her husband; a son, Jeb Harris and wife, Caroline, of Amarillo; a daughter, Jera Harris of Amarillo; her mother, Nadine Crum of Amarillo; a sister, Karen Cosette Burkhart of Perryton; and two nieces, Gena White and husband, Jamie, of Palm Coast, Fla., and Kenra Minnick and husband, Wayne, of Shallowater. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church Chapel with Monsignor Joseph Tash officiating. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Hooks was born Aug. 27, 1909, in Comanche County to James and Alba Earl Hill Barnett. She was the fifth child born to a family of 10. She came to Amarillo in 1942 to work at Pantex until World War II ended and Pantex closed. She then worked at the Amarillo Air Force Base until it closed. She lived more than 40 years in the Eastridge addition of Amarillo. She was a member of Eastridge Baptist Church. She was a previous member of Sanborn Baptist Church and Glenwood Baptist Church. Susie loved her family and friends, never passing an opportunity to do a kind deed for others. She was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rubert Hooks; a son, Roche Hooks; and a grandson, David Hooks. Survivors include two daughters, Flora Cox of Burkburnett and Neva Burks and husband, Robert, of Amarillo; a sister, Larue Ramsey of Las Cruces, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens with flag detail by American Legion Post No. 224. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Childers was born June 22, 1921, in Texhoma. She was a lifelong resident of Moore County. She married Phil Childers in Paris. They were married Aug. 28, 1945, by a French mayor and on Sept. 1, 1945, by a military chaplain. She served as a WAC in World War II from 1941 to 1945. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 5, 1990; three sisters; and a brother. Survivors include two sons, Corky Childers and wife, Becky, of Bedford and Terry Childers and wife, Linda, of Cactus; a daughter, Sherry Hayduk and husband, George, of Factoryville, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Phillip Childers IV, Crystal Childers, Collin Childers, Brandi Hammer, Kasi Moeskau, Amanda Hayduk and Sarah Hayduk; and two great-grandchildren, Colton and Kaitlyn Hammer. Pohlmeier - 1926-2004 TULIA - Virgil M. Pohlmeier, 78, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004. Vigil and rosary services will be at 7 p.m. today in Church of the Holy Spirit. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Scott Raef, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. Pohlmeier was born May 29, 1926, in Nazareth. He grew up in Nazareth and graduated from Nazareth High School in 1943. He served in the Army from November 1944 to November 1946. He married Viola Stork on Aug. 23, 1950, in Nazareth. They moved to Tulia from Plainview in 1950. He was a barber in Tulia for several years at Ballenger's Olympic Barber Shop. He then became an accountant and worked for Baldwin and Rucker Accountants, Hill Farms in Hart, was then the tax-assessor for Tulia ISD and then worked for Tulia Wheat Growers, where he retired. He was also the bookkeeper for Church of the Holy Spirit for 40 years. He was a member of Church of the Holy Spirit, where he was a lector, Eucharist minister, an usher and a member of the choir. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was a member of the Nazareth American Legion. He was preceded in death by seven brothers; three sisters; and a grandson. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Maureen Self and husband, James, of Hereford; two sons, Brian Pohlmeier and wife, Peggy, of Plainview and Alan Pohlmeier and wife, Cathi, of Amarillo; two brothers, Leroy Pohlmeier of Nazareth and Phillip Pohlmeier of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
