Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Memorial Park East Mausoleum. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Rafael Ramirez Jr. and Arturo Ramirez, both of Amarillo; a sister, Natalia Ramirez of Amarillo; his maternal grandparents, Juan Ramirez and Maria de Jesus Ramirez of Chihuahua, Mexico; and his paternal grandparents, Isidro Salgado and Maria Luisa Mejia of Michoacan, Mexico. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ricky Carstensen, pastor, and the Rev. Erron Mercer, pastor of Cornerstone Church of Wheeler, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Ware was born Sept. 13, 1930, to Robert Howe Akin and Bessie May Akin in Oklahoma City. She attended Oklahoma A&M University, where she met and married Nicholas D. Ware Jr. on June 18, 1949. She and N.D. moved to Wheeler, where they helped start the family business, Ware Chevrolet, and raise their family. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Western Lonestar Senior Ladies Golf Association and the Shamrock Ladies Golf Association. Mrs. Ware was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Thursday Review Club. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; her parents; and a sister. Survivors include three sons, Bobby Ware, Kent Ware and wife, Angie, and Gary Ware and wife, Tresa, all of Wheeler; two daughters, Janice Barr and husband, Steve, of Cary, N.C., and Niki Cooper of Lubbock; a sister, Patsy Brooks and husband, Bill, of Eureka Springs, Ark.; and 13 grandchildren, Trent Ware and Kate Cooper Tatarowicz, both of Dallas, Nic Ware, Jake Ware, Levi Ware, and Garret Ware, all of Wheeler, Ashley Ware of Tampa, Fla., Corey Barr of Los Angeles, Drew Barr and Philip Barr, both of Cary, Steele Cooper of Miami, Corbin Cooper of Kansas City, Mo., and Brady Ware of Amarillo. Mrs. Graves was born April 7, 1920, in Georgiana, Ala. She married Charlie Graves Jr. on May 7, 1942, in Gulfport, Miss. Survivors include a son, Vergual Matthews of Tulia; a sister, Era Shavers of Biloxi, Miss.; and four grandchildren. Mrs. McClarnen was born Jan. 28, 1953, in Borger. She was a bookkeeper for a motel. Survivors include her mother, Nellie Mae Sanders of Borger; a son, Sean McClarnen of Milton, Fla.; a daughter, Shannon Davis of Milton; a brother, Wendyl Sanders of Borger; and three grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 20, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sammie Lee Dougherty Atherton WHEELER - Sammie Lee Dougherty Atherton, 77, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Stiles, pastor of Allison Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Atherton was born July 21, 1927, to Sam and Ada Lee Dougherty at McLean. She moved to Briscoe in 1935. Sammie graduated from Briscoe High School in 1945 and attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. She taught the third and fourth grades in Briscoe for several years. Mrs. Atherton married Darville Atherton on Jan. 5, 1947, in her parents' home in Briscoe. They ran a dairy farm was well as farming and ranching. She enjoyed canning and cooking abundant and delicious meals for her family in the fields. She supported her boys in all their sports activities. After a death in the community, she would supply breakfast for the family. Mrs. Atherton also loved to travel. Sammie and Darville celebrated 57 years of marriage together. They lived in Briscoe until 1977, then they moved 13 miles east of Wheeler, where they built a home. She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; two brothers, S.W. and Alva Dean Dougherty; and three sons, Arville Dean in 1967, Lee Royce in 2002 and Mickey "Mick" Atherton in 2003. Survivors include her husband; a son, Rusty Atherton and wife, Noveta, of Wheeler; a daughter- in-law, Debbie Atherton; two brothers, Gene Dougherty of Pampa and Jim Dougherty of Amarillo; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to the Boy Scouts of America. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 20, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Bob Perrin HEREFORD - Jim Bob Perrin, 53, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in rural Deaf Smith County, northwest of Hereford. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in West Park Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Shultz, Dr. Bill McLaughlin and Jerry Roberts officiating. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Perrin was born Sept. 25, 1951, in Haskell, the son of Jim and Nance Perrin. He came to Deaf Smith County in 1955, where he was a lifelong farmer and rancher. Mr. Perrin served on the Farm Service Agency, the Walcott School Board and was a member of the Spicer Gripp Roping Committee. He was also an avid Hereford Whiteface Booster. Mr. Perrin was a skilled craftsman and never met a stranger. He always had a story to tell, and one he could deliver with his special charm and wit. A perfect day for Mr. Perrin would be riding his Harley on the open road. He was loved by all who knew him. Survivors include his parents of Hereford; a son, Colt Perrin of Hereford; a daughter, Bree Perrin of Houston; a brother, Joe Perrin of Hereford; a sister, Carol Sue Gibson of Dublin; four nieces and nephews; a grandniece; and a grandnephew. Mrs. McGhee was born April 20, 1930, in Peacock to Bill Kinney and Velma Frasier Kinney. She married Lee Roy McGhee on Dec. 6, 1946, in Haskell. Survivors include her mother of Odessa; five daughters, Linda Straw of Abilene, Brenda Robbins of Bridgeport, Susan Robertson of Quanah, Jana Crumpton of Munday and Melonie Melton of North Little Rock, Ark.; four sons, David McGhee of Galveston, Darryl McGhee and Mark McGhee, both of Rochester and Glenn McGhee of Vernon; two sisters, Peggy Montain of Bryan and Patricia Byrd of Modesto, Calif.; a brother, Kenneth Kinney of Florida; 25 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
