Keffler Dr. Richard "Dick" A. Keffler, 78, of Amarillo died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004. Vigil services will be at 5 p.m. Monday in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church with Monsignor Joseph Tash officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Dr. Keffler was born Aug. 9, 1926, in Canton, Ohio, to Francis and Cecilia Keffler. He married Patricia Mathews at Youngstown, Ohio, in 1952. Dr. Keffler graduated from Marquette University and Holy Cross University. They moved to Lubbock in 1957 and from there to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1983. They moved from Scottsdale to Amarillo in 1991. He was also a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Anthony Keffler and wife, Debra, of Amarillo and Dr. F. John Keffler of Denver; a sister, Nancy Helline of Massillon, Ohio; two brothers, John F. Keffler and wife, Joanne, of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and James P. Keffler and wife, Sue, of Boca Raton, Fla.; five grandchildren, Amy, Ashley, Tony, Jerrod and Carrie Keffler; and a great- granddaughter, Bailey Keffler. Hughes St. Mrs. Johnson was born Oct. 19, 1925, in Waxahachie to William and Willie Pearl Johnson. She lived and worked in Amarillo as a nurse for many, many years, until she retired from the Veterans Hospital in 1995. She was an active member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Barbara Morris Johnson. Survivors include three children, Billy Ray Morris of Los Angeles, Donnie Joe Morris of Amarillo and Janice Morris Matthews and husband, Larry, of Covington; two grandsons, Edward P. Graveside services and burial will be at 4 p.m. Monday in DeBolt Cemetery in Arnett, Okla. Arrangements are by Blackburn- Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 15th Avenue and Martin Road. Mr. Evans was born June 10, 1923, in Lankershim, Calif. He lived most of his life in Amarillo. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was serving on the USS Pennsylvania and was in Pearl Harbor when it was bombed. Mr. Evans was a roofer by trade, having started and owned West Roofing Co. at one time. He married Wynola on March 20, 1971, in Corpus Christi and was a member of Westcliff Bible Church. Mr. Evans loved being with his family and drinking coffee with the boys every morning. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Carlotta Sims of Mesquite; two nephews, Gary Harbison of Granbury and Robbie Harbison of Lubbock; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, with the Rev. Ronald Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Ledbetter was born July 9, 1909, in Grapevine. She married Elden E. Ledbetter on Sept. 28, 1929, and lived in Silverton until 1941, when the family moved to Amarillo. In 1996, she moved to Dumas after the death of her husband. She had resided in Sanger since October 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include a son, Gene Ledbetter of Dumas; two daughters, Jody Bebout of Dumas and Margaret Charter of Sanger; three sisters, Ruby Freeman and Louise Wimberly, both of Fort Worth, and Betty Marbut of Burleson; a brother, Maurice Hodges of Watauga; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Beacon Baptist Church with Danny Chisum, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Hawkins was born June 4, 1944, in Okemah, Okla., to Jess and Leah Hawkins and later moved to Altus, Okla. He attended school at Duke Public School, where he graduated in 1964. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Vietnam War. During his lifetime he worked at many professions, but his favorite was driving a truck. He was saved and baptized at Greenleaf Baptist Indian Church in Okemah at a young age. We have lost a loving father, brother, uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers Jim, Glen, Dale, Bob and Steven Hawkins. He married Anita Amaro and was a loader operator for more than 55 years, having worked for North Plains Compost Co. for many years. Survivors include a daughter, Lucia Dominguez and husband, Gene, of Hereford; four brothers, Jesus Celaya, Frank Celaya and Eustacio Celaya, all of Hereford, and Savas Celaya of Amarillo; six sisters, Lupe Galan, Josie Martinez and Albina Da La Paz, all of Hereford, Minnie Ruiz of Kansas, Maximina Galindo of California and Isabel Diaz of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She attended Pampa schools and McClennan Community College in Waco and was a longtime resident of Pampa. She married Kent Vise in Pampa on April 17, 1999. She was employed as the Wheeler High School principal's secretary and was the PEIMS coordinator for the Wheeler schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
