Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Southwest Baptist Church with J. Alan Ford, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Dovalina was born in Ropesville. She had lived in Amarillo for more than 60 years. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 33 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Pioneers at SWBT. She was the Democratic chairman in 1994. She was also a member of Potter County Historical Society, as well as St. Laurence Cathedral. She married P.J. Dovalina in 1956 at Tucumcari, N.M. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Darla Leggett and husband, Monte, of Fritch and Annette Keith of Boulder, Colo.; a son, Roderick Dovalina and wife, Brenda, of Amarillo; two sisters, Joy King and Sandy Sartain, both of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Terry, Dacia, Ryan, P.J., Amy, Buddy, Niki and Tosha; and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 1, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ethel Elizabeth Chiddix Caussey Ethel Elizabeth Chiddix Caussey, 87, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, in Plainview. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo with Horace Abbott, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Plainview, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Caussey was a longtime resident of Amarillo and had been a resident of Plainview Health Care since October 2003. She was born in Lamesa, Dawson County, on July 28, 1917, the youngest child of the Rev. Lee Chiddix and Marcella McCray Chiddix. The Chiddix family moved to the Liberty Community, north of Plainview, in 1942. Mrs. Caussey attended Liberty School, where she was the class of 1932 valedictorian. Mrs. Caussey was a Methodist. Mrs. Caussey married Bud Caussey on Oct. 18, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1995. They had no children. Mrs. Caussey was a talented seamstress and for many years did alterations out of her home for Amarillo's fashion leaders. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Eunice Owen, Minnie Morris, Nettie Freese and Gracie Graham; and two brothers, Albert and Walter Chiddix. Survivors include a niece, Betty Adams of Plainview; two nephews, Glen Chiddix and Elmer Freese Jr., both of Plainview; and two great-nephews, K. Marvin Adams of Weatherford and Keith Adams of Oklahoma City. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 1, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Virgil Ray Cline Virgil Ray Cline, 66, of Amarillo died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Christian Church of God with Jeff Booth, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens in Dimmitt. Mr. Cline was born and raised in Hale County. He graduated from Lockney High School in 1956. He served in the Army. Mr. Cline lived in Amarillo for more than 30 years. He was a computer programmer for American Quarter Horse Association. He had many good friends and enjoyed archery and walking. He was a member of the Christian Church of God. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Cline in 2003. Survivors include a brother, Milas Cline of Dimmitt; his mother, Lou Ables of Cleburne; two nieces; a nephew; and six great-nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Fred Riley officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Elbert married Hubert Howard Elbert in Memphis on Feb. 7, 1941. They lived in Childress, where Mr. Elbert was involved in the railroad business. They moved to Wellington where they did farming and worked for Gin and Phone Company. They moved to Amarillo in 1965, where they resumed a career in farming. She was a member of East Amarillo Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Elbert on April 18, 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Boudrot of Kula Maui, Hawaii; a son, Dick Elbert of Amarillo; and three grandchildren, Kim Elbert Harvard, Mark Bender and Vicki Elbert. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Washington Avenue Christian Church with James McElroy, his son-in-law, officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Jordan was born and raised in Donley County and graduated from Clarendon High School. He attended Clarendon Junior College. He married Patricia L. Pittman in Clarendon in 1949. He was a resident of Amarillo for more than 50 years. He transferred to Belen, N.M., in 1980 with Santa Fe, where he retired in 1993 after 40 years of service. He returned to Amarillo in 1993. He was chairman of Local Carmen's Union for many years. He was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church since 1950, where he served as an elder and treasurer. In the past year, he participated in Cowboy Church at Craig Methodist Retirement Center. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002; and two sisters, Cora Lee Robertson of Pampa and Geraldine Norton of Bakersfield, Calif. Survivors include a son, Kim Jordan and wife, Pauline, of Canyon; a daughter, Karla McElroy and husband, Jim, of Lynnwood, Wash.; a brother, Perry Jordan of Glendale, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Charise McElroy and Jared McElroy of Seattle, Billy Jack Jordan II of Canyon and Jerrica Jordan of Houston. Hughes St. Mr. Mitchell was born Nov. 22, 1912, in Dallas. He was a member of Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was an Amarillo resident for 57 years. Survivors include a sister, Ruby Sanford of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Jean Carter of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Community Fellowship Church with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Housden was born June 30, 1940, in Clarendon. She lived for a time in Borger before moving to Houston 34 years ago. He had worked much of his life as an oil and gas broker, and had served in the National Guard. He was an active volunteer in some community groups in the Houston area. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Clarendon. Survivors include a daughter, Tonya Housden of Houston; a son, Eric Housden of New Orleans; a brother, Kenneth Housden of Eastland; and a grandson, Holden Housden. Casket bearers will be Johnny Davis, Larry Davis, Jack Eads, Eddy Eads, Darrell Leffew, Jimmy Johnson, John Tom Morrow and Weldon Steen. On Aug. 29, 1942, he married Marie Tucker in Brownwood. He was a retired farmer and rancher and worked construction as an equipment operator. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jim Hutcherson and wife, Fran, of Dumas, Johnny Hutcherson and wife, Theresa, of Floresville and Jack Hutcherson of Plainview; two sisters, Loray Waggnor of San Diego and Berenice Perkins of Brownwood; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Lockney Cemetery in Lockney. Mr. Cannon was born March 19, 1922, in Shelbyville. He had worked for Rigney Auto Parts in Lubbock for the past 10 years. Mr. Mattingly was born Oct. 26, 1933, in Anderson, Ind., to Grant and Mary (Adair) Mattingly. Denis served in the Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1972. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; two sons, Lee Mattingly and wife, Cindy, of Marysville, Kan., and Tim Mattingly and wife, Kim, of Woodbine; a daughter, Connie VanNostrand and husband, Kevin, of Lincoln, Neb.; four granddaughters, Kayla, Meggan, Kristin and Nicole Mattingly; and five grandsons, Grant Mattingly, Jason Mattingly, Justin VanNostrand, Mason VanNostrand and Chris VanNostrand.
