Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with Bobby Cates officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Cates was born in Sasakwa, Okla., and was raised in Amarillo. He served in the Army during World War II. He is survived by his family and friends at the Valley Inn. He was happiest when he was with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Peggy Carlile Cates; two sons, Harold Phillips and Johnny Cates; and four brothers, Jimmy Cates, Lonnie Cates, Doug Cates and Leonard Cates. Survivors include his wife, Darrelie; a daughter, Rosemary Herring of Round Rock; four sons, Martin Cates of Springtown, and Jimmy Phillips, Jeffrey Cates and Sam Phillips, all of Amarillo; five sisters, Martha Junell and Iona Givins, both of Amarillo, Laverne Elliott of Tiller, Ark., Mary Lou Freeman of Stockton, Calif., and Helen Harper of Fairbanks, Alaska; and a brother, Frank Cates of Tucson, Ariz..; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Christian Church of God with Jeff Booth, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens in Dimmitt by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Cline was born and raised in Hale County. He graduated from Lockney High School in 1956. He served in the Army. Mr. Cline lived in Amarillo for more than 30 years. He was a computer programmer for American Quarter Horse Association. He had many good friends and enjoyed archery and walking. He was a member of the Christian Church of God. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Cline in 2003. Survivors include a brother, Milas Cline of Dimmitt; his mother, Lou Ables of Cleburne; two nieces; a nephew; and six great-nephews. Mrs. James moved to Amarillo in 1951 from Childress. She had worked at Panhandle Laundry, Amarillo Laundry and Amarillo Independent School District. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert James on June 6, 1996, in Amarillo; and a son, Bennie Joe James in 1990. Survivors include two sons, Frank James of Amarillo and Dorsey James of Crestview, Fla.; a sister, Vera Jones of Amarillo;; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Mrs. Elbert married Hubert Howard Elbert in Memphis on Feb. 7, 1941. They lived in Childress, where Mr. Elbert was involved in the railroad business. They moved to Wellington where they did farming and worked for Gin and Phone Company. They moved to Amarillo in 1965, where they resumed a career in farming. She was a member of East Amarillo Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Elbert on April 18, 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Boudrot of Kula Maui, Hawaii; a son, Dick Elbert of Amarillo; and three grandchildren, Kim Elbert Harvard, Mark Bender and Vicki Elbert. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Mr. Gaither was born March 10, 1929. He was a former resident of Lubbock and an Amarillo resident for two years. Survivors include four daughters, Georgetter Lewis and Velma Hall, both of Amarillo, Delois Adediran of Denton and Katrina Hicks of Austin; a son, David Hicks of Amarillo; a sister, Faye Brown of Amarillo; a brother, Sylvester Gaither of El Cajon, Calif.; and a host of grandchildren. Mrs. Ratcliff was born in Chillicothe on June 26, 1911. She married Samuel R. Ratcliff in 1931. She received a BS in 1947 and a master's of education degree in 1951, both from West Texas State University. She taught school in the Panhandle area for more than 30 years and taught Sunday school at Covenant Presbyterian Church in the 1970s and 1980s. She moved to Austin in 1999 and resided in an assisted living center. She was a kind and hardworking wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979; and a son, Richard Laird Ratcliff in 1995. Survivors include a son, Joe Ratcliff of Austin; four grandchildren, Stacy Frank of Katy, Berry Ratcliff of Denver, Gretchen Ratcliff-Lapari of Columbus, Ohio, and Ransom Ratcliff of Rockville, Md.; and four great-grandchildren, Jason Frank, Connor Frank, Samuel Ratcliff and Andrew Ratcliff. Mr. Quiggle was born Oct. 3, 1935, in LeRoy, Kan., to Stanley Lloyd Quiggle and Opal French Quiggle. He started Pizza Hut in Canyon in 1971 and sold it in 1985. Survivors include his wife, Val; two sons, James Quiggle of Sparks, Nev., and Larry Quiggle of Rio Rancho, N.M.; two daughters, Marguetta Hollar of Amarillo and Kendra Patton of Canyon; a brother, Bryan Quiggle of Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Ann's Catholic Church of Canyon with the Rev. Phu Phan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Mrs. Hoff was born Aug. 2, 1928, at Windthorst, to Joseph and Irene Anderle Hoff. She grew up in Seguin and graduated form Seguin High School. She worked at Southwestern Bell in Seguin and Wichita Falls before moving to Amarillo in 1953, where she attended Amarillo College and continued to work at Southwestern Bell. After graduation she worked for Southwestern Bell full time as a telephone operator. She retired in 1985 after 36 years of service. She was loving aunt and loved her family and cats. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church of Canyon. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Florence Komperda in 1971. Survivors include a sister, Gene Railsback of Canyon; a brother, Joe "Budd" Hoff and wife, Jane, of Abilene; a godchild, Shauna Ashley of Amarillo; and 13 nieces and nephews. Mr. Crump was born Sept. 23, 1942, in Gainesville. He had been a resident of Groom most of his adult life. He married Donna Murlene Morrow on May 18, 1965, in Groom. He was a trucker most of his life and also worked transporting light cargo and freight the last few years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Groom. After graduation he worked on the farm for several years before moving to Houston, where he worked for a large trucking firm. After moving back to Gruver, he worked on the family when his health allowed. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.T. and Joyce Duncan; and a son, Richie Todd. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Dalhart Church of the Nazarene with John Miller of the church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mr. Hall was born Nov. 10, 1927, in Bentonville, Ark., to Vernon A. Hall and Willa M. Rumley. Charles graduated from high school in El Monte, Calif., and married Dorothy Mulqueen in 1945. In 1946, Charles was inducted into the Army and was sent to Yokohama, Japan, as part of the occupational peace keeping forces. Charles and Dorothy have lived in Dalhart since 1958. Charles worked for Dalhart Butane and Equipment for 35 years, retiring in 1989. Charles loved to work with his hands. His pleasure was to build things, not necessarily for their use, but for the satisfaction of a job well done. Charles' pride and joy was rebuilding cars, Ford Model A's and T's were his speciality. Charles was happiest at home and working in his shop. Charles and Dorothy celebrated their 59th anniversary on Nov. 10, 1945. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jimmy Dean Hall in 1992.
