Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Arden Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Moore, pastor of Arden Road Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Celaya was born Dec. 5, 1946, in Casa Grande, Ariz. He graduated from Hereford High School in 1966, and married his wife, Bertha, on Oct. 29, 1966. Mr. Celaya was employed by Southwestern Public Service, now Xcel Energy, for 36 years. He had been an active member of Arden Road Baptist Church. Savas loved his family very much. Survivors include his wife; a son, Steve Celaya of Amarillo; a daughter Melissa Zambrano of Amarillo; six sisters, Lupe Galan, Josie Martinez and Albina DeLaPaz, all of Hereford, Minie Ruiz of Colorado, Maximina Galindo of California and Isabel Diaz of Amarillo; three brothers, Jesus Celaya, Frank Celaya and Eustacio Celaya, all of Hereford; and eight grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in San Jacinto Church of Christ with Trey Morgan, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Smith was born to Donnie Smith and Donna Blackburn Smith in Plainview on May 16, 1968. He grew up in Amarillo where he attended Paramount Terrace Elementary, Crockett Junior High and Tascosa High School. He went on to graduate with honors from Texas Tech with a degree in electrical engineering. He was employed by Utility Engineering in Amarillo at the time of his death. He was in the process of overseeing the building of a power plant in Jacksonville, Fla., when he became ill. Darrell married Tyshann Oliver on July 3, 1998, in Woodson. They enjoyed traveling and attending professional baseball games together. Darrell loved his Texas Tech Raiders and enjoyed traveling to Lubbock to watch them play. He was a member of San Jacinto Church of Christ, where he attended for many years. Survivors include his wife; his parents of Canyon; two sisters, Dena Minich and husband, Chuck, and Dixie Cornelius and husband, Kent, all of Amarillo; 10 nephews, Dillon, Dustin, Dakota, and Dallas Minich, Daxton and Dayton Cornelius, Brandon, Braxton, Blayton, and Bryson Oliver; two nieces, Ashley and Amber Browning; his in-laws, Roy and Elwanna Oliver of Woodson; a sister- in-law, Tammy Browning and husband, Harvey, of Kingswood; a brother-in-law, Kyle Oliver and wife, Angela, of Throckmorton; and three cats and a turtle. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Dick Carter, elder of Covenant Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Ratcliff was born in Chillicothe on June 26, 1911. She married Samuel R. Ratcliff in 1931. She received a BS in 1947 and a master's of education degree in 1951, both from West Texas State University. She taught school in the Panhandle area for more than 30 years and taught Sunday school at Covenant Presbyterian Church in the 1970s and 1980s. She moved to Austin in 1999 and resided in an assisted living center. She was a kind and hardworking wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979; and a son, Richard Laird Ratcliff in 1995. Rusty Fleming officiating. Private burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Stahl was born in Estelline on May 13, 1921. She moved to Melrose, N.M., after the death of her father with her mother, her sister, Grace Fleming, and her brother, Elton Bruce. She married Lloyd Stahl in Clovis, N.M., on June 19, 1940, and lived in Melrose for seven years and then moved to Roy, N.M. Her husband was in the banking business for more than 40 years. They lived in Roy for more than 15 years and then moved to Amarillo. Gussie was a homemaker, a very good Christian, a wonderful wife and a great mother. Gussie was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her husband in November 2000. Mrs. Hales was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canyon for many years until she moved her membership to St. Stephen United Methodist Church of Amarillo. At St. Stephen she enjoyed singing in the choir and being a part of the Covenant Sunday school class. She was active in 4-H. She married Jones Hales on Aug. 3, 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 17, 2003. Lovelady in 1926 and he preceded her in death in 1933. She then married C.T. Allee in 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1968. She has outlived her whole family. She was preceded in death by her husband; and a son, Floyd E. Lovelady in 1987. She married Marva Lee Thomas Mays on June 5, 1945, in Memphis. She had earned her master's degree and taught school. She had also worked at Clarendon Community Action Center as a day care provider, worked for Planned Parenthood and had served for several years on the Donley County Child Welfare Board. She also worked in the JPTA at TSTI and had been active in Phi Theta Kappa. She was a member of Martin Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 27, 1991; two daughters; a son; and two brothers. "Nocky" Tyler Jr., 79, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hereford Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Guy Walker and the Rev. John Will Bookout officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Tyler was born April 17, 1925, in Belton, the son of Gundla and the Rev. Noah Enoch Tyler Sr. His mother came to the U.S. from Norway and his father was one of the first seven men to be ordained in the Nazarene Church at Pilot Point. He organized the Floydada Nazarene Church that he pastored for more than 40 years. Nocky was raised in Floydada and started singing in the seventh grade. He loved to sing and sang at many special events throughout his life. Nocky was a veteran, having served with the Marines during World War II. He fought in the South Pacific on the islands of Siapan, Roi and Namur. Upon his discharge, Nocky returned to Floydada and on July 28, 1946, married Marn Hall. Nocky and Marn moved to Hereford, where he and his wife worked in the real estate and rental property businesses. He had a special love for all people and always had candy to hand out to children. Nocky also had a special place in his heart for Girls Town U.S.A., which both he and his wife have supported for many years. He was preceded in death by four brothers; three sisters; two grandchildren; and five half-brothers and half-sisters. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nancy Victor of Hereford; two sons, Kelly Tyler and Jerry "J" Tyler, both of Amarillo; a sister, Willene Williams of Dallas; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. After graduation he worked on the farm for several years before moving to Houston, where he worked for a large trucking firm. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 3, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wallace Ray Evans CORTEZ, Colo. - Wallace Roy Evans, 76, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004. Memorial services will be at a later date. Wally's remains will be placed in his niche next to his beloved wife at Memorial Park East Mausoleum in Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements are by Ertel Funeral Home. Mr. Evans was born Oct. 27, 1928, in Kansas, the son of Roy Vernon and Lena Laurena (Earhart) Evans. Wally graduated from high school in 1946 at Omaha, Neb., and went on to attend Colorado A&M (now Colorado State University), graduating in 1950. Upon graduation Wally entered the Air Force in August 1951. He was a radar navigator bombardier, flying in both the B-47 and B-52's during the Korean conflict, Vietnam War and the Cold War. His last crew assignment was with the 461st Bomb Wing out of Amarillo. He was awarded the Air Medal for Meritorious Achievement while participating in aerial flight in Southeast Asia on Nov. 30, 1970. This medal was awarded to those who successfully performed their mission and showed outstanding airmanship and courage during extremely hazardous conditions. He was later awarded the Meritorious Service Medal on May 31, 1973. Wally was awarded this honor for his outstanding professional skill, leadership, and ceaseless efforts resulting in major contributions to the Air Force warning and security programs. His innovative problem solving skills enabled the Air Force to significantly improve the warning and operation of vital special security systems. Upon his retirement in May 1973, Wally was an intelligence officer stationed in Germany. Returning to the U.S., he and his wife, Bettie, went into the real estate business in Tucson, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife in 1991. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Guymon Church of Christ with Jesse Stephens, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mr. Smart was born April 10, 1947, in Kermit, Texas. He drove trucks and operated heavy equipment for many years in the Guymon area. Survivors include his mother, Thelma Smart of Garden City, Kan.; a sister, Jenny Thompson of Garden City; a brother, Terry Dewayne Smart of Sheridan, Wyo.; two nieces; and three nephews.
