Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Jim Howard officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Hales was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canyon for many years until she moved her membership to St. Stephen United Methodist Church of Amarillo. At St. Stephen she enjoyed singing in the choir and being a part of the Covenant Sunday school class. She was active in 4-H. She married Jones Hales on Aug. 3, 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 17, 2003. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Dugan of Ruidoso, N.M., and Millie Harber and Debbie Bowen, both of Amarillo; two sons, Larry Hales of Amarillo and Willie Hales of Canyon; two sisters, Lois Jean Cupell and Claudine Lehman, both of Amarillo; her grandchildren, Julie Godwin, Kristi Dugan, April Bowen, Cody Fromm and Paydon Hales, all of Amarillo, and Amanda Graves of Canyon; and a great-grandson, Shae Cody Godwin of Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Chad Horton and the Rev. Rusty Fleming officiating. Private burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Stahl was born in Estelline on May 13, 1921. She moved to Melrose, N.M., after the death of her father with her mother, her sister, Grace Fleming, and her brother, Elton Bruce. She married Lloyd Stahl in Clovis, N.M., on June 19, 1940, and lived in Melrose for seven years and then moved to Roy, N.M. Her husband was in the banking business for more than 40 years. They lived in Roy for more than 15 years and then moved to Amarillo. Gussie was a homemaker, a very good Christian, a wonderful wife and a great mother. Gussie was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her husband in November 2000. Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Gaither and husband, Charlie, of Amarillo; a son, Rick Stahl and wife, Suzy, of Amarillo; a grandson, Patrick Stahl and wife, Amy, of Amarillo; two great-grandchildren, twin boys, Baker and Fisher of Amarillo; and two stepgrandchildren, Brent Gaither of Austin and Christy Gaither of Amarillo. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Rogers was born Jan. 13, 1914, in Watonga, Okla. He served in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945 in South Africa, Italy, France and Germany. Survivors include a son, James of Plainview; a granddaughter; and a grandson. Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 8, 1913, in Collingsworth County to William Homer and Atha Della Smith Sewell. She married Robert Vernon Smith Sr. on Sept. 23, 1933, in Sayre, Okla. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and had lived most of her life in the Texas Panhandle. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 10, 1996; and a son, Robert Vernon Smith Jr. in 2002. Survivors include two sons, Millard Smith and wife, Diane, of Altus and James Smith and wife, Patti, of Pampa; two daughters, Atha Wright and husband, Kenneth, of Altus and Rita Richardson and husband, Clois, of Sayre; a daughter-in-law, Faye Smith of New Waverly; 19 grandchildren; 40 great- grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, W.H.
