Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Dale Moreland, associate pastor of San Jacinto Baptist Church, officiating. Private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Gwyn was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School and served with the military police in the Army during World War II. He worked in the printing department for the Amarillo Globe-News 47 years, retiring in 1982. Mr. Gwyn married Frances Lampton in 1950 at Amarillo. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kory Gwyn in 2000. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles "Chuck" Gwyn and wife, Ronda, of Amarillo and Cecil Gwyn and wife, Buffy, of Groom; two granddaughters, Rhoda Key of Amarillo and Kylie Pickering of Groom; a great-granddaughter, Morgan Key of Amarillo; a sister, Betty Morgan of Fritch; and two brothers, George Gwyn and Freeman Gwyn, both of Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in San Jacinto Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Moreland officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Cee Vee Cemetery in Cee Vee by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Smith was born and raised in Cee Vee and was a graduate of Paducah High School. She married Arnold Smith on Dec. 2, 1951, in Cee Vee. They lived in Portales, N.M., where she worked as a bookkeeper for J.C. Penny from 1958 to 1976. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Arrowhead Mills in Hereford from 1976 until her retirement. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1998. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, R.B. Ransom and a granddaughter, Christina Smith. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Clinton Smith and wife, Renee, of Amarillo and Terry Smith and wife, Christi, of Canyon; three daughters, Vickie Purcell and husband, Jim, of Big Spring, Donna Crow and husband, Rick, of Clovis, N.M., and Tena Pagett and husband, Gary, of Tulsa, Okla.; her mother, Lois Ransom of Slaton; a sister, Betty Smith and husband, Don, of Slaton; a brother, Norman Ransom and wife, Arlene, of Slaton; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Robert Field, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery in Friona. Mrs. Rule was born in LeBam, Wash. She had been an avid doll collector for more than 40 years and belonged to several doll clubs. She helped found Texas Panhandle Doll Club. Mrs. Rule had been a longtime resident of Friona and then Amarillo. She was a Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" L. Rule in 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Bobbe Murphy of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Shannon Alford of Claude; a grandson, Douglas Murphy of Dallas; three great- grandchildren, Cory, Melissa and Nikki; and one great-great grandson, Nathan. Osage St. Mr. Solis was born in El Paso in 1941. At a young age, he and his family relocated to Post. He enlisted in the Army in 1959 and moved to Amarillo after his military service in 1962. Mr. Solis worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement and married Josie Arenas in June 1992. Mr. Solis was a Catholic and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He also enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, woodworking and enjoyed many different types of music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ascension and Esperanza Solis; and a sister, Romelia Valdez. "Ray" Thompson Jr., 79, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church in Pampa with the Rev. Scott Penrod, pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Thompson was born Aug. 31, 1925, in Amarillo to H. Raeburn and Annie Embry Thompson. He was a resident of Pampa since 1928, before moving to Amarillo in 2001. He was a 1943 graduate of Pampa High School and a 1950 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the Navy from 1943 to 1946 and served in the Navy V12 Program and the Naval Reserve. He married Johnnie Douglas on June 15, 1952, in Shamrock. He was a longtime Pampa businessman, owning and operating H. R. Thompson Automotive Parts Co. until his retirement in 2001. The business, which was started by his father, has been in Pampa since 1928. Mr. Thompson served on the Pampa City Commission for eight years and was mayor of Pampa for four years. He served on the Pampa Senior Citizen's Center Board, Salvation Army Board, First United Methodist Church Administrative Board, and the Pampa Industrial Foundation Board. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pampa, where he was a past member of the Men's Fellowship and Winsome Sunday school classes. He attended St. Stephen United Methodist Church and Bridge Builders Sunday school class in Amarillo. He was a former member of Pampa Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Joan (Thompson) Thompson. Survivors include his wife; his children, Douglas Ray Thompson and wife, Ann, of Pampa, Rebecca Lee Thompson of Dallas and Linda Ries and husband, Kent, of Amarillo; and his grandchildren, Julie and James Ray Thompson, both of Pampa, and Robert and Jonathan Ries, both of Amarillo. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cox was born May 31, 1918, to Adney and Lloyd Airhart in Swisher County. She was one of 10 children. She married George Rahlfs in 1939 and farmed with him for more than 50 years until his death in 1990. She married Newt Cox in 1992 and lived in Miami and Amarillo until his death in 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, L.G. Airhart, John B. Airhart, Bill Airhart and Laverne Airhart; and a sister, Madeline Pursley. Mrs. Ruiz was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Durant, Okla. She was a Dumas and Moore County resident since 1937. She married Eddie Ruiz on Aug. 1, 1964, in Dumas. She was the only woman commodore ever to be elected to the Lake Meredith Yacht Club and served two terms as such. She worked as a hairdresser for 10 years. She helped publish and print the Morning Star and Moore County NewsPress for several years. She was the owner-operator of Frontier Printing in Dumas for three years. She was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Byrd in 1983; and her parents, Gene and Myrt Baxter.
