Gonzales Jr. Mateo L. Gonzales Jr., 91, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Monsignor Ray Crosier, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Gonzales was born and raised in Midland, where he worked for Budweiser Co. and later owned his own taxi company. He moved to Amarillo in 1964 and worked mainly for Texas Sprinkler Co. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He married Carmen Madrid on Oct. 27, 1937, in Presidio. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 14, 1989; and three sons, Margarito Gonzales, Eliseo Gonzales and Oscar Gonzales. Survivors include two sons, Eduardo Gonzales of Carrollton and Ruben Gonzales of Amarillo; four daughters, Dora Bernal and Viola Gonzales, both of Amarillo, Elia Sanchez of Incline Village, Nev., and Beatrice Madrid of Midland; a sister, Felipa Heredia of Midland; 27 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Holcomb, 90, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Pat Carruthers officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Holcomb was born June 25, 1914, in Midland, Mich., to William and Sarah Cote Appleman. Following high school, she was employed as secretary to the dean of chemical engineering at the University of Michigan, where she met her future husband, Dysart E. Holcomb. The couple married on Aug. 6, 1938, in Baytown. Mrs. Holcomb was a homemaker. During the years she and her husband lived in Shreveport, La., she was an active member of Schumpert Hospital Auxiliary, serving as its president for two years. Mrs. Holcomb was a member of St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Dysart E. Holcomb Jr. on Aug. 28, 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Ann Todd and husband, Frank, of Amarillo and Carolyn Bjorkback of Springfield, Ill.; a son, John Holcomb and a special friend, Emily Hunt Parsons, of Pacific Grove, Calif.; six granddaughters, Jennifer Hawley and husband, Kyle, of Amarillo, Amy Shupp and husband, Anthony, of Midland, Erica Jimenez of Chatham, Ill., Jamie Bailey and husband, Greg, of Warner Robins, Ga., and Caitlin and Anna Holcomb of Pacific Grove; six great-grandchildren, Aaron and Sydnie Hawley, Emma and Claire Shupp, Brandon Jimenez and Ashlyn Bailey. He graduated from Amarillo High School and played on the 1938 football team. He was a member of First Christian Church, Kiwanis Club and American Legion. George worked as plant supervisor for Plains Creamery, retiring after 53 years. The Lord called him home on Thursday, Dec. 9. For three years Qutrayvious brought joy and a ray of sunshine to everyone with his precious smiles to brighten their day. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Farris was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Wise County, to Hubert "Jack" and Emily Wright. She married G.E. Weatherford of Wise County in 1935 and later married J.B. Farris in 1945. She and Mr. Farris moved to Dimmitt in 1946, where she ran a restaurant and later worked in the Dimmitt hospital. She moved to Amarillo and worked as a surgical technician at St. Anthony's Hospital before retiring. Survivors include a son, Joe Weatherford and wife, Mary Lou, of Dimmitt; three sisters, Margie Pettus and Lucille Dabney, both of Amarillo, and Betty Martin of Holly, Colo.; a brother, Gene Wright of Arlington; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She attended Canyon High School and graduated in 1981. After high school, she entered West Texas State University and received a bachelor of business degree in 1984. Mr. Gibbins was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. He retired from Shamrock Oil and Gas as a pipeline terminal manager after 42 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph C. and Susie Gann Gibbins; a brother, Clyde Gibbins; and a sister, Margaret Fisk. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; a son, Arthur W.
