Holcomb Margaret A. Holcomb, 90, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Pat Carathers officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Holcomb was born June 25, 1914, in Midland, Mich., to William and Sarah Cote Appleman. Following high school, she was employed as secretary to the dean of chemical engineering at the University of Michigan, where she met her future husband, Dysart E. Holcomb. The couple married on Aug. 6, 1938, in Baytown. Mrs. Holcomb was a homemaker. During the years she and her husband lived in Shreveport, La., she was an active member of Schumpert Hospital Auxiliary, serving as its president for two years. Mrs. Holcomb was a member of St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Dysart E. Holcomb Jr., on Aug. 28, 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Ann Todd and husband, Frank, of Amarillo and Carolyn Bjorkback of Springfield, Ill.; a son, John Holcomb and a special friend, Emily Hunt Parsons, of Pacific Grove, Calif.; six granddaughters, Jennifer Hawley and husband, Kyle, of Amarillo, Amy Shupp and husband, Anthony, of Midland, Erica Jimenez of Chatham, Ill., Jamie Bailey and husband, Greg, of Warner Robins, Ga., and Caitlin and Anna Holcomb of Pacific Grove; six great-grandchildren, Aaron and Sydnie Hawley, Emma and Claire Shupp, Brandon Jimenez and Ashlyn Bailey. Mrs. Dumcum was born in Dustin, Okla., on Aug. 4, 1922. She married Merle "Wesley" Dumcum on Oct. 30, 1939, in Great Bend, Kan. Mrs. Spelce was born May 10, 1943, to Vernon and Nadine Wilson in Borger. She married Billie Ray Spelce on Sept. 30, 1983, in Clovis, N.M. She was a secretary for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 25 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Collectors Club. She graduated from Borger High School in 1961. She graduated from West Texas State University with a degree in secondary education with an English major and graduated from North Texas University in Denton with a master's degree in English literature. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jennifer Jay Bill Spelce Thompson and husband, Matt, of Houston; a brother, Jerry Wilson of Desoto; a sister, Janine Park of Amarillo; four nieces, Lisa Renée Wilson of Chicago, Lezli Janine Thompson of Hereford and Karla and Spelce Thompson, both of Atlanta; and two nephews, Chad Simpson of Amarillo and Doug Wilson of Dallas. Mrs. Hopper was born April 30, 1914, to John and Katherine Ross Stratton in Baca County, N.M. She married G.B. "Goat" Hopper on Jan. 29, 1934, in Hollis, Okla. Juanita worked in the cafeteria for Wellington I.S.D. for 28 years. She was a member of the Retired Teacher Association, where she served as an officer, and she was an active member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; a son, Jerry Bollen, in 1981; a sister, Johnia Everett; and a brother, J.B. Stratton. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Faye Bollen of Denton; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two nephews; and two nieces. She taught school in both the elementary and high school in the Logan public school system. Burial will be at 4 p.m. today in Fowler Cemetery in Fowler, Kan., by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. Mr. Wright had lived in the Goodwell area since 1976. He was engaged in farming and ranching and was a member of Church of the Nazarene. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Itasca Church of Christ in Itasca with Charles Horn officiating. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery in Cleburne by Clayton Kay-Vaughan Funeral Home. Mr. Gibbins was born July 19, 1922, to Joseph C. and Susie Gann Gibbins at Groom. Art and Patricia Goodman were married Oct. 4, 1942, in Dumas by Charles Richey, and they celebrated 62 years of marriage in October of this year. Art was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps until December 1945, when he returned to work for Shamrock Oil & Gas and moved his family to Sunray. In 1954, Art moved his family to Amarillo, where he was the pipeline terminal manager for Shamrock Oil & Gas. He retired in March 1983 after 42 years of service. After retirement Art and Pat moved to Cherokee Village, Ark. In December 1986, they settled in Files Valley in Ellis County where they engaged in ranching. Their greatest joy was spending time with their family, friends and traveling. Art was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and son who enjoyed his church family. His hobby was making jewelry from precious stones and metal for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clyde, of Amarillo; and a sister, Margaret Fisk of Stratford. Survivors include his wife; a son Arthur W. "Bill" Gibbins Jr. and wife, Karen, of Files Valley; two daughters, Sharon Bean and husband, Carl, of Dumas and Mary Weatherford and husband, Dale, of Hartley; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
