He married Juannell Bryant, and they moved to Claude in 1965, where he owned and operated Bucks Welding for 23 years. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Dr. Royse was born July 19, 1925, in Elk City, Okla. He married Ruby Bozeman on Dec. 22, 1946, in Elk City. He received his bachelor of science and doctor of veterinary medicine degrees from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1959, where he owned and operated Royse Animal Hospital until his retirement earlier this year. He was also involved in farming and ranching in Gray County. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Dr. Royse was a life member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association and was also a life member of the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. He was a board member of the Top O' Texas Rodeo Association for 17 years and was a past board president. He was a member and former director of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Royse served as veterinarian for the Top O' Texas Livestock Show for more than 20 years and was active in FFA and 4-H for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.T. Royse, and two brothers, Dr. Paul Royse and Sam Royse. Survivors include his wife; a son, James Lowell "Jim" Royse of Pampa; a sister, Lucille Stewart of Elk City; a brother, T.A. "Prof" Weatherby, 95, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Lowe, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Weatherby was born Oct. 22, 1909, in the Memphis area to C.M. and Sally Beulah Brown Weatherby. "Prof" Weatherby received his bachelor of science degree from West Texas State Teachers College at Canyon in 1934. Following graduation, he served as principal of Lakeview Elementary School in Hall County for two years before enrolling in Texas Tech University, where he received another bachelor of science degree in agricultural education in 1937. "Prof" Weatherby and Frankie Andrews of McLean were married in May 1936 and moved to Shamrock in July 1937. "Prof" began 38 years of teaching vocational agriculture in Shamrock High School. After his retirement, Mr. Weatherby served on the board of directors of the South Wheeler Hospital District, the Chamber of Commerce board, St. Patrick's Chairman in 1984, the St. Patrick's steering committee and served as a Wheeler County surveyor. Mr Weatherby had been a member of First United Methodist Church for more than 60 years and served the church in many capacities. Mrs. Poteet was born in Anna on Dec. 4, 1924, to the late Shirley and Ethel Powell. She married Curtis Poteet on Nov. 29, 1942 in Matador. They lived in Nara Visa, N.M., for 30 years and moved back to Floydada in 1995. She was a housewife, a member of Primitive Baptist Church in Floydada and loved to sew and bake. She was preceded in death by a son, Otis Tillman Poteet; a brother; and two sisters. Mr. Coyle was born Dec. 1, 1940, in Montreal. He had been a resident of Dumas since 1976. He graduated from Rich Township High School in Park Forest, Ill. After graduating from North Dakota State, he played in the Canadian Football League for two seasons. He was active in the Grand Island, Neb., Little Theatre, was president of Cosmopolitan International and was a charter member of the Dumas Fraternal Order of Eagles. He worked for Swift & Co. for 36 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and loved to sing in the choir. He loved family, music, football, good food and a good old-fashioned nonviolent thunderstorm. He married Cheryl Abrahamson on June 22, 1968, at Grand Island. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Edward Coyle, and a sister, Ann VanVraken. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 19, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lloyd Edwin Elkins Sr. Lloyd Edwin Elkins Sr., 92, of Amarillo, formerly of Tulsa, Okla., died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Floral Haven Mausoleum Chapel in Tulsa. Entombment will be in Floral Haven Mausoleum. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Elkins was born April 1, 1912, in Golden, Colo., to Edwin and Beulah Elkins. Lloyd received his degree of petroleum engineer in 1934 from Colorado School of Mines, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity, Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Gamma Epsilon and Scabbard and Blade honorary societies and was a four-year letterman on the basketball team. He graduated from the Harvard School of Advanced Business Management in 1948 and received an honorary doctorate in science from the University of the Ozarks in 1963. He joined Stanolind Oil and Gas (now BP) in 1934 and remained with the company for 43 years. He started as field engineer in Wink, then was chief engineer in Tulsa and in 1948 became Amoco's manager of production research. After retirement, he opened a private petroleum consulting office and subsequently was chosen as a member of the prestigious Arbitration Board selected to divide rights to massive oil properties located in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Lloyd had been a very active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, holding many offices including the role of national president in 1948 and receiving the society's Distinguished Service Award. He was also active in the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Engineers (AIMME), holding numerous positions, including president in 1963, and receiving the Lucas Gold Medal and Distinguished Life Member honors. He was a member of the National Academy of Engineering, Tulsa Geological Society, Australasian AIME (honorary) and the American Petroleum Institute (API). His numerous awards include the Golden Plate Award of the American Academy of Achievement, the API Citation for Service and the University of Tulsa Citizen Award. Named to the Engineering Hall of Fame at Oklahoma State University, he also received the Colorado School of Mines Distinguished Service Medal and was inducted in the Engineering Hall of Fame of the University of Tulsa. A prolific writer of technical papers, he was recognized as an outstanding authority in secondary and tertiary recovery of oil. He served as president and board member of Family and Children's Service for many years and was one of the first Tulsa Library Hall of Fame honorees, having served on the library board for 17 years. He was one of the founders of the Tulsa Petroleum Club and a member of Tulsa Country Club and Kiwanis Club. A very active churchman, he served in both elder and trustee positions. When the John Knox Presbyterian Church was built, he was the chairman of the building committee. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, where he served as president of the Joynor Sunday school class and on the administrative board. In Amarillo, he was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Georgia St., with John Wagoner, chaplain of Craig Methodist Retirement Community, and the Rev. Perry Hunsaker, of St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Baker graduated from Amarillo High School. He served in the Army 90th Infantry Division during World War II. He married Gwen Byars in Amarillo on Oct. 14, 1939. She passed away in June of this year. Mr. Baker retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years. He was past president of the Amarillo Postal Credit Union and was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Mr. Cobb was born July 19, 1938, to Doris and Raymond Cobb in Fort Worth. In 1956, he joined the Marine Corps where he served until 1959. Ray was an avid golfer and would challenge all on-comers at any given time. He lived and loved life to its fullest. He never met a stranger. Kathleen was born to and predeceased by her parents, Ovia Snider Hoskins and Leo Hoskins. Kathleen graduated from Amarillo High School in 1945. In 1944, Kathleen contributed to the war effort by serving as a sponsor and honorary captain of the R.O.T.C. Kathleen attended Amarillo Junior College. On Dec. 22, 1948, Kathleen married Bill Adams. Kathleen was a consummate homemaker and mother. Once her two daughters were grown, Kathleen pursued her interest in and love for interior design. She was employed by Gary M. Pfeffer Designs. She also was a mentor for the Harrington House and served on the board of Planned Parenthood. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Leovia, and a brother, Dwight. Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Adams of Albuquerque, N.M., and Nancy Perryman and husband, Kris, of Athens; two grandchildren, Jonathan Ribeiro and Marisa Montes, both of Albuquerque; three stepgrandchildren, all of Athens; her dear friends, Mary Stewart, Gary, Garrison and Wells Pfeffer of Amarillo. Wells Pfeffer was Kathleen's godson; however, both Garrison and Wells were like grandchildren to her. Kathleen is also survived by a host of many dear friends. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Kuykendall was born Feb. 27, 1931, to Rex and Eula Mae Bozeman Kuykendall in Memphis. He married Rae Money on April 2, 1955, in Amarillo. He worked for Nabisco for 10 years, Santa Fe Trails for 13 years and Pantex for 10 years in the transportation department for all of these companies. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He was a veteran, serving his country in the Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Willingham; and a brother, Wallace Kuykendall. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Charlene and husband, Jim, and Toni and husband, Mike, all of Amarillo, and Joni and husband, Sarl, of Fritch; a son, Joe and wife, Tima, of Livingston, La.; a special nephew, Randy Willingham and wife, Terri, of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and 13 great- grandchildren. Joshua was a member and toured with the Amarillo Boy's Choir. Joshua was also a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church and San Jacinto Baptist Church. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, serving in the 8th Air Force and completing 32 missions over occupied Europe as a tailgunner and engineer on a B-24. Sgt. Loomis received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service. He retired from Roberts Truck Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosy, and a stepson, Leon. Mr. Saucedo was born and raised in Bastrop and married Charlotte in 1966. Sid lived, worked and raised three children in the Texas Panhandle. Sid had strong ties in the community supporting the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, YMCA, MDA, charities, local school athletics and band boosters. Sid has accomplished many goals as an entrepreneur.
