Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Landrum Medlock officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Hickmott was born and raised in Amarillo and had lived here his entire life. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, where he was a prisoner of war in Germany. He was a custom home builder in the Texas Panhandle for many years. He volunteered for Meals-On-Wheels and the Salvation Army. He was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, the VFW and POW/MIA. Ed and Ruth would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on Christmas Eve. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bill Hickmott and wife, Dene, of Amarillo; three daughters, Phyllis Shewbert and husband, Gary, of Bushland, Nancy Jane Blades and husband, Gary, of Amarillo and Gail Nelson and husband, Glen, of Owasso, Okla.; two sisters, Helen Smith of Rowlett and Thelma Hanson and husband, Paul, of Delores, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren. He was a 1977 graduate of Amarillo High School. He also attended Amarillo College and T.S.T.I. He married Pam Thrash on Aug. 22, 1987, in Amarillo. He worked for Amarillo Hardware before going to work for Center City Furniture, where he worked as a warehouse manager. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Horne, in 1976. She, along with her husband, owned and operated Love & Son Nursery until July 1996. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray C. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Navy. He married Rose Mauer on March 27, 1953, in South Sioux City, Neb. He was an avid bowler and golfer and loved to camp. Mrs. Vandivere was born and raised in Collingsworth County and was a graduate of Dodson High School. She married M.V. "Cotton" Vandivere in 1941 in Phillips. He passed away in 1982. She moved to Phillips in 1941 and lived there until 1981. She lived in Borger until moving to Amarillo in 2000. Mrs. Vandivere was a member of Fairlanes Baptist Church from 1941 until 1982. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Frank Ford and Helen Margaret Gardner Ford, and by a brother, Lee Gardner Ford. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Perry Hunsaker, minister of congregational care, officiating. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Shi was born in Macon, Ga., where he graduated from Lanier High School for Boys in 1939. He attended Mercer University from 1939 to 1941. He then served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1945, primarily in the European Theater, Italy and the China Burma-India theaters of war. Following discharge from the Air Corps, Mr. Shi earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Alabama Polytechnic Institute at Auburn, Ala. In 1948, Mr. Shi moved to Borger and was employed in the engineering department of J.M. Huber Corp. He later moved to Amarillo, where he was employed in the engineering department of the city of Amarillo and retired as city engineer in 1989. Mr. Shi's professional affiliations and honors included a lifetime membership in the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Texas Society of Professional Engineers as a past officer and on the board. He was a registered land surveyor, a member of Texas Public Works Association and the Texas Municipal League. He was a member of the advisory committee for technical curriculum at Amarillo College. Some of Mr. Shi's community involvements included serving on the Board of Stewards St. Paul United Methodist Church, serving as chairman of the Evangelism Commission, participating in a mission effort to Mexico, driving for Meals-on-Wheels and a longtime member of the Covenant Sunday School Class. He was an ombudsman for the area agency on Aging of the Panhandle and an active member of the Self Help for the Hard of Hearing Association. Survivors include his wife of nearly 72 years, Miriam Elmore Shi of Savannah, Ga.; two daughters, Miriam Pauli of Austin and Cathy Price of Vandalia, Ohio; a grandson, Giles Pauli; three granddaughters, Amy Bardwell, Angele Price and Brittany Price; and a sister, Lucile Shi Hanson of Macon. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Itasca Cemetery in Itasca, Texas, with the Rev. Delbert Taylor officiating. Local arrangements are by Patterson Greer Funeral Home. Arrangements in Itasca are by Clayton-Kay- Vaughan Funeral Home. Mrs. Machen was born Oct. 11, 1909, in Lovelace, Texas, to George and Clara Bradley Sweeney. She married B.F. Machen on Dec. 2, 1928, in Hill County. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth L. Byrd of Morgantown, W.Va., and Joan McCamon of Amarillo, Texas; a son, Jim D. Machen of Boca Raton, Fla.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vanita Hays of Itasca. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, P.O.
