Kiser Samuel C. Kiser, 57, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004. Following private burial, the family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Great Hall of First Presbyterian Church. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jim Bankhead, Dr. Murray Gossett, Shannon Brooks and Jeff Booth officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Kiser was born Nov. 8, 1947. He was the middle child of Harve and Lois Kiser. He married the former Patsy Kempson on April 3, 1976, in Amarillo. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1966 and attended the University of Cordoba in Cordoba, Argentina, in 1969, studying Latin American economics and literature. Sam volunteered with the U.S. Information Service in Cordoba as a translator and teacher. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1970 with a bachelor of science degree in economics, with minors in Spanish and government. In 1973, he graduated from St. Mary's School of Law with a doctor of jurisprudence. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1973. Sam served as assistant city attorney for the city of Amarillo from 1973 to 1974 and then was an assistant county attorney for Potter County from 1974 until 1977. He was named first assistant in 1976. Sam engaged in the private practice of law from 1977 to 1987 with the firm of Sanders Kiser & Baker. In 1987, he was appointed to the 181st Judicial District Court, where he served until he retired in 2000. He was elected as a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He was actively engaged in the operation of Crawford Ranch until his death. Sam was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo, where he taught Sunday school class and was elected deacon and elder. Sam served as a board member for the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, Panhandle Regional Planning Commission Dispute Resolution, Amarillo College Court Reporting Advisory Board, Panhandle Council for the Deaf Closed Caption Advisory Commission and the Amarillo Humane Society. He was a member of the Gideons International, Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers' Association, Rotary International, Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Potter/Randall County Juvenile Board. Sam cherished his Lord and his family. As a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend and neighbor, he reached out in love, touched hearts and left his imprint on their lives. Sam was passionate about life and strove to be the best he could be. He gave his all to life, and those he touched were lifted. He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard, in 1968. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kempson Kiser and wife, Janette, and Blair Kiser and wife, Amanda; three grandchildren, Shyanne Kiser, Cierra Kiser and Crawford Kiser; his parents of Plainview; a brother, Roy Kiser and wife, Barbara, of Plainview; a nephew, Roy Kiser Jr. and wife, Deanna; a niece, Risa Kiser Woodward and husband, Doug; and a great-nephew, Dylan Woodward. "Dollie" Cowan, 86, of Amarillo died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Pampa. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Victory Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Cowan was born in Mount Holly, N.J., on March 21, 1918. She entered heaven on Dec. 20, 2004. She was known as Dollie to all who knew and loved her. Dollie married Sherman L. Cowan on Sept. 23, 1934, in Lumberton, N.J. They were married for 53 years before Sherman's death on Nov. 9, 1988. She and Sherman had six children. Dollie was an active member of Victory Church. She was in the nursing profession for 35 years and had worked at various hospitals until her retirement from St. Anthony's Hospital. After retirement, Dollie began selling Mary Kay cosmetics and was top salesperson for many years, receiving many awards. She enjoyed the Mary Kay life and her many customers. The thriving business was a result of her very hard work. Dollie loved her Lord and family dearly. She was preceded in death by two children, Robert L. Cowan of Grand Prairie and Jeannie Wilkinson Hart of Irving. Survivors include four children, Sherman G. Cowan and Danny R. Mrs. Sanders was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on Jan. 22, 1916, to William and Annie Fiwchuk. She received her RN from Calgary General Hospital Training School for Nurses on May 4, 1939. She was certified as a physical therapist by the American Congress of Physical Therapy, after completing the course at the Mayo Clinic on June 30, 1942. She was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the Army Medical Corps on June 15, 1942. She was separated from service on Dec. 19, 1945. She married Homer Sanders at the 217th General Hospital in Paris on June 9, 1945. Survivors include her husband; a son, Michael Brooks Sanders of Littleton, Colo.; and a grandson. Hughes St. Mrs. Pruitt was born Norma J. Simmons on Nov. 6, 1943, in Wood County. After graduating from high school in Wood County, she married Cherrie Don Pruitt, and they moved to Amarillo. She attended TSTI, where she acquired clerical skills. She became employed by Pioneer Natural Gas Co., which later became ONEOK, where she was a secretary. She was employed by these companies for 25 years. Survivors include two daughters, Jeannie Pruitt and Alicia Johnson, both of Amarillo; a son, Michael Pruitt of Amarillo; three sisters, Nancy Alexander, Gwendolyn Osibanjo and Marilyn Mills, all of Amarillo; a brother, Billy Martin and wife, Essie, of Pittsburg; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Russell Sean Davis, Jimmy Dougless, Robert Dougless, Russell Dougless, Joshua Dougless and Dylan Dougless. There will be no graveside services. Mr. Dougless, 84, of Pampa left this Earth to join his beloved wife, Tampa, in heaven on Dec. 19, 2004. Jim was born March 20, 1920, to Marvin Eugene Dougless and Hettie Dougless in Wizard Wells. He married Tampa Kenner Davis on Jan. 6, 1951, in Pampa. They lived in Pampa for 50 years. In 2002, he moved to Hobbs. He was a retired drilling and completion foreman for Diamond Shamrock and Maxxus Energy and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union 654 of Abilene. Jim served honorably in the Army Air Corps during World War II with the 405th Fighter Squadron and the 34th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron and participated in campaigns in Northern France, Normandy, the Rhineland and the central European air offensive. He enlisted in 1941 and was discharged as a sergeant in 1946. He was a member of Pampa Masonic Lodge 966 and Mary Ellen at Harvester Church of Christ. He had served as a board member for the Freedom Museum USA and had been active with the Pampa Army Air Force Reunion. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years; his parents; a brother, Pete Dougless; and a sister, Gladys Rockwell. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 21, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew "Snookey" Harvey Lindemann UMBARGER - Andrew "Snookey" Harvey Lindemann, 80, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Amarillo. Prayer services will be at 6 p.m. today in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel in Canyon with the Rev. Jim Hutzler and the Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Pat Carathers officiating. Burial will be in Umbarger Cemetery. Memorial mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Mr. Lindemann was born Oct. 8, 1924, in Amarillo to Andrew J. and Aline Lankford Lindemann. He attended St. Mary's school in Amarillo and West Texas Training School and High School in Canyon. As a young man, he was employed in the crew that built Buffalo Lake. He was in the Army from 1944 to 1946 and was in the 70th Infantry, 276th Mountain Division, Company K. He received five battle stars and a combat infantryman badge and served in the France and Germany campaign. He returned to Umbarger after World War II and with his brother, James, established Fisherman's Supply, a bait store near Buffalo Lake. He met Odessa Scruggs at Umbarger in 1946, and they were married there on Aug. 12, 1947. They owned and operated Fisherman's Supply until 1968 when Buffalo Lake was closed. Mr. Lindemann worked as a carpenter until 1971. He then owned and operated Chaparral Villa mobile home park in Canyon until he retired in 1994. He was devoted to his family and his faith. He served as a lay minister and was a parish board and finance committee member at St. Mary's and also served on the water board at Umbarger. Mr. Lindemann was an avid game bird hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time at his country home with his beloved wife, his daughters, their husbands and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Harold, in 1948. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Susan McDivitt of Amarillo, Shirley Neuser of Midland and Sharon Day of Rockwall; three sisters, Sister Mary Bertille of New Orleans, Georgia Woods of Dayton, Ohio, and Anna Robertson of Amarillo; a brother, Carol Lindemann of Amarillo; and 13 grandchildren. Mr. Weaver was born Jan. 19, 1928, in Connerville, Okla., to Charlie and Mary Teafatiller Weaver. They moved to Tulia and then in 1944 to Dalhart. A veteran of the Navy during World War II, Kenneth married Peggie McElroy on Sept. 2, 1950, in Clayton, N.M. Kenneth was an owner/operator for North American Van Lines and was an over the road driver for many years, retiring in 1993. Kenneth loved his family and friends and was known for his love and zest for life. Kenneth was a member of Lincoln Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. She graduated from Amarillo High and attended West Texas State University. Sandy was an accomplished violinist, playing with the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra in the production of "TEXAS." Sandy dedicated her life to her Lord, her children and all children at the Minister of Childhood Education at Champion Forest Baptist Church, Houston, and First Baptist Church, Lake Jackson. Proverbs 22:6" Sandy joyfully shared her spirit of love, compassion and laughter with all who crossed her path. She possessed and demonstrated a deep love for her family and friends. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Clark Williams and the Rev. Donna Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon and Happy. Mrs. Lumry, 91, passed away peacefully in Dallas on Dec. 19, 2004, after a short illness. She was born Feb. 11, 1913, on the family farm near Wynne, Ark. Her parents were William B. Bamson and Coral Chamberlin Bamson. She graduated from Wynne High School and attended Arkansas State University and Memphis State University. She taught in Arkansas public schools for a few years. She married Lt. Col. Raymond H. Lumry in San Diego, Calif., on Feb. 15, 1948, and enjoyed being an Army wife for the next 16 years. She was a devoted, lifelong Methodist and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canyon. She served on its administrative board and was a lay delegate to the Northwest Texas Annual Conference two times. She taught youth Sunday school classes for several years and was a member of Crusader Sunday school class for 45 years. She was a longtime member of the Sue Hite Study Club and was an associate member of the Canyon Association of Retired Teachers and School Personnel. For several years, she worked with Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was an avid traveler and, with her husband, traveled in all 50 states and 45 countries on six continents. She enjoyed gardening and flower growing and arranging. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a loyal member of her church and community and a wonderful friend to everyone she met. She will be missed in death as she was loved in life. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include her husband, Col. Raymond H. Lumry; a son, Dr. William R. Lumry and wife, Rose, of Dallas; a daughter, Sharon E. Lawler and husband, Peter, of Lexington, Mass.; a grandson, Randall Lumry of Dallas; and two granddaughters, Ariel Lumry of Dallas and Paige Lawler of Lexington.
