Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Landrum Medlock of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Dunlap was born in Savanna, Okla. He worked for the University of Wyoming as a plant mechanic for 32 years before retiring in 1995. Mr. Dunlap lived in Laramie, Wyo., from 1960 until 1996, when he moved to Amarillo. He married Dee Berry on May 25, 1998. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Dunlap in 1941 and Harley Dunlap in 1999. Survivors include his wife; a son, Lewis Martin Dunlap and wife, Ruby, of Laramie; a stepson, James Berry of Atlanta, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Brenda Ouellette of Amarillo, Rhonda Garrett of Dayton, Ohio, and Theresa Leister of Abilene, Kan.; three brothers, Fremont Dunlap of Cloudy, Okla., James Dunlap of Von, N.M., and Archie Dunlap of Amarillo; three sisters, Lucelle Dunlap- Luellen of Gunbarrell, Becky Anderson of Arthur City and Lilly Bontke of Ford, Kan.; a granddaughter, Sierra Mellissa Dunlap of Laramie; 15 stepgrandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Hawkins was born June 16, 1914, in Shelby County, Ky., to Lulie Jane and Walter Morten Hawkins. He made the wisest decision of his life on Feb. 26, 1940, when he married Mary Ruth Douglas in Louisville, Ky. During World War II, Bill worked for Jeffersonville Boat and Machine Co. building LSTs. He earned numerous honors for his wartime support. He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in August 1974. Bill was a devoted lifelong baseball fan. Before retiring, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He retained his lifetime membership at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Ky. He attended Covenant of Joy Christian Church and was a member of Arvada Masonic Lodge in Arvada, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and three brothers. Mrs. Jenkins was born Dec. 26, 1916, in Chillicothe to Meeks Dodson and Alma Wilson. She was married to William Ray Jenkins on Dec. 27, 1941, in Amarillo. She attended Stephens College and the University of Texas. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, Amarillo Junior League, Palo Duro Club, International Club, "Just Us Girls" (JUG) Club, Mini Casa de Amarillo, life master in the American Contract Bridge League and numerous charitable clubs. She loved and decorated for every holiday but her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She loved music, especially singing and always wished she could sing. One of her favorite pastimes was working on her miniature houses and rooms with which she won several awards. She loved her family very much never making any distinction between her blood grandchildren and her stepgrandchildren. Summertime meant days spent at the cabin at the Palo Duro Club frying chicken, making grape ice cream, and watching the children swim. She was an avid bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ray Jenkins on March 30, 1986. Survivors include two sons, William Ray Jenkins Jr. of El Campo and John Meeks Jenkins "Shorty" of Amarillo, and their wives Karen and Sandra; three sisters Mary McClune of Amarillo and Donda Drake and Anne Rhodes, both of Dallas; six grandchildren, Julie Jenkins, Jennifer Carter, David Caldwell, William Ray "Chip" Jenkins III, Amy Hall and Roxanne Myers; and 12 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Smith was born in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1937. He received a degree in geology and petroleum engineering (cum laude) from the University of Texas in 1941, and received a BS in pharmacy from the University of Texas in 1950. He practiced pharmacy with ownership of S&M Drug Stores in Amarillo until his retirement in 1983. Mr. Smith served in World War II with the 69th bombardment squadron in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1945. Mr. Smith was a member and former president of the Kiwanis Club. He was also a Shriner, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Amarillo Masonic Lodge No. 731. He was a longtime member and deacon of First Baptist Church. He married Wanda Fullingim in 1979. He was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Smith; a sister, Dr. Ernestine Smith; and his first wife, Evelyn Smith. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 29, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jimmie H. Davis TULIA - Jimmie H. Davis, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Davenport, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. Davis was born in Holdenville, Okla., on April 21, 1919, to John and Texana Davis. He grew up in Spalding, Okla., and attended schools there. After high school he enlisted in the Army Infantry in July 1941. He fought for our country in Africa, Sicily, England, France and Germany, winning a Silver Star on Omaha Beach on D-Day and a Purple Heart in Germany. He received a Silver Star in July 1944, Good Conduct Medal and a Purple Heart in February 1945, EAMA Campaign Medal with six Bronze Stars and American Defense Service Medal. He married Ruby Young in 1947 and moved to Tulare, Calif., for four years. They then moved to Hart, where they began farming. In 1979, they moved to Tulia. He was a multi-state cattle buyer for 45 years and was well known for his cow deals. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tulia. Survivors include his wife; a son, Duane Davis and wife, Nan, of Tulia; three brothers, Ernest Davis of Hart, W.H. Davis of Olton and L.J. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 29, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Delmar Roden DUMAS - Delmar Roden, 72, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Junior Nippert, retired Baptist minister from Mangum, Okla., and the Rev. Rick Korsmo, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Jester Cemetery in Jester, Okla. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Roden was born May 22, 1932, in Soper, Okla. He was a Dumas resident since 1967. He married Laura Gibbs on Dec. 29, 1951, in Mangum, Okla. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Dumas for the past 12 years. He worked at Woody's Furniture from 1967 to 1997. He was owner/operator of Roden's Furniture from 1977 to 1995. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kim Roberts and husband, Gary, of Dumas and Vanessa Pemberton and husband, Randy, of Amarillo; a sister, Gladys Haygood and husband, Sonny, of Willow, Okla.; four grandchildren, Skyler, Cory, Christie and Shayla; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second Ave., Dumas, TX 79029; or Bible Baptist Church Building Fund, 10 Elm St., Dumas, TX 79029. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Citizens Cemetery with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor of Community Fellowship Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Taylor was born Dec. 30, 1931, in Louisville, Ky. He married Virginia Lee Middleton on May 10, 1960, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He came from Cincinnati to Clarendon in 1964. He worked at Wallace Monument, Mutt's Cafe and Buddy Ford in Clarendon for several years before retirement. He was a Protestant. He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 6, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Eddie Taylor of Amarillo and Rick Taylor of Clarendon. The family suggests memorials be to Odyssey Healthcare in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memory Gardens West Mausoleum in Pampa with Mike Sublett, pastor of Hi-Land Christian Church, and Larry Haddock, pastor of Alamosa Christian Church in Alamosa, Colo., officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Summers was a land surveyor with George W. Thompson, Merriman and Barber Topographic of Pampa for 30 years. He was a member of Hi-Land Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Carolea; two sons, Lincoln Edward Summers of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Archie Glen Summers Sr. of Lefors; three daughters, Carol Faye Ziegelgruber and Melba May Woelfle, both of Pampa, and Sue Seitz of Amarillo; a sister, Mabel Harris of Kingman, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
