Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Dreamland Cemetery with Bishop Douglas Bingham officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Burrell was born on the eighth of September in Duncombe, Iowa, to Frances Franklin Lutz and Anna Gertrude Brown. Cleva was the youngest of 11 children. She had five older brothers and five older sisters, all of whom have preceded her in death. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from Duncombe High School in 1930 and attended business school. She married Lawrence Marvin Burrell Sr. on Aug. 19, 1941, in Virginia. They were married for 62 years and raised two sons. She spent her life caring for her family and working outside the home, when necessary, as a U.S. Civil Service employee. She retired from Civil Service. She considered her greatest vocation as mother and wife. She traveled all over the country with her family, from Norfolk, Va., to Great Lakes Naval Station, Ill., Tacoma, Wash., and Adak, Alaska. She and Lawrence settled in central Texas in 1955. The family moved to Belton in 1957 and left many friends there to spend their final years in Amarillo among family. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Belton and an active member of Order of Eastern Star, Belton Chapter No. 589. She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings. Survivors include two sons, Lawrence Marvin Burrell Jr. of Jupiter, Fla., and William Miles Burrell of Canyon; four grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren, all in the Canyon and Amarillo area. "Bud" Edwards, 74, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Valleyview Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Larry Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Edwards was in the Air Force and retired in 1968 after 21 years of service. After his retirement, he became an entrepreneur and built and managed the Pik n Pak grocery stores from 1968 to 2004. He was also involved in real estate and auto sales. He was an accomplished table tennis player and played in many tournaments in the Southwest. He was also an expert 3-meter diver and swimmer. Bud married Tonnie Nixon in Montgomery, Ala., in 1951. He was a 30- year member of Valleyview Church of the Nazarene, a church he deeply loved. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Malcolm L. Edwards Jr. and Mark J. Edwards, both of Dallas, M. Dwayne Edwards of San Diego, and Tim M. Edwards of Amarillo; three grandsons, Steve Edwards of Atlanta, Malcolm L. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Monsignor B.A. Erpen and Monsignor Raymond Crosier officiating. Mrs. Haley was born in Fort Worth on Oct. 17, 1923. She attended Claude High School and Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She married Harold Newman Haley on Oct. 17, 1946, in Lubbock. They made their home in Amarillo until Mr. Haley's death in 1991. She moved to Crowley, where she resided until 2000 when she moved to Denton. She had been a resident of Seville Estates since moving to Amarillo in 2003. Survivors include four sons, Don M. Haley, Dale C. Haley and Stanley A. Haley, all of Amarillo, and Gary N. Haley of Waxahachie; a daughter, Charlotte Haley Malone of Denton; 13 grandchildren including Staff Sgt. David Ray Haley, who will be unable to attend because he is serving with the Marine Corps in Iraq; six great-grandchildren; six nieces; 11 nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She married Hill A. Lopez on Oct. 1, 1946. Mrs. Lopez was a homemaker and a charter member of St. Laurence Cathedral. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 20, 2003; an infant son, Lawrence Lopez; her parents; and three brothers, Lewis Gonzales, Vincent Gonzales and Rudolph Gonzales. She owned and operated two hot dog stands in San Marcos for many years. She also worked for many years at the wool mill in San Marcos. She moved to Amarillo in 2001. He was formerly a member of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church for 30 years, and later became a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father. He enjoyed raising and racing horses. He worked at Woody's Furniture from 1967 to 1977. He was owner/operator of Roden's Furniture from 1977 to 1995. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. Mr. Stevens was born May 15, 1914, in Love County, Okla., and lived in Roberts County before moving to Clarendon in 1980. He married Dorothy Jane Hudson on July 15, 1960, in Tucumcari, N.M. He was a cowboy and had worked on various ranches in the Texas Panhandle area for 50 years before his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Clarendon. He was preceded in death by six siblings. Mrs. Wright was born Aug. 3, 1914, in Leo, to Oliver and Callie Fortenberry. She grew up on the farm east of Happy along with six brothers and sisters. She graduated from Happy High School in 1932 and West Texas Normal College in 1936. She taught school in Chalk and Happy until she retired in 1980. She married S.N. "Moon" Wright on Aug. 17, 1947, in Clovis, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; her parents; three brothers, Ed and Joe Fortenberry of Amarillo, and Paul Fortenberry of Friona; and three sisters, Faye Hargrove and Gladys Daugherty, both of California, and Fern Spear of Happy. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 30, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oklahoma Edgar Lobit GUYMON, Okla. - Edgar Lobit, 82, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Katie Brown, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. Mr. Lobit was born Dec. 18, 1922, in Phoenix, to Edgar Lobit Sr. and Kathleen (Hogsett) Lobit. In the early 1930s, Ed's family returned to the Lobit family roots in the area of Galveston and Houston, where he grew up until attending military school at New Mexico Military Institute. He entered the Army in 1942. During his military service, Ed was stationed at Fort Reno near El Reno, Okla., which was one of the Army's last operating remount stations. Ed was a horse breaker and trainer and a mule packer and was deployed to India in early 1945, where he served until after the end of World War II. In the mid-1950s, Ed studied photography at Oklahoma City University and in 1958, moved his family to Guymon and opened Lobit Studio. Ed was a master photographer, craftsman, and certified professional photographer, who achieved national acclaim for his work in portrait photography. He was a board member of the Professional Photographers of America, and at various times during his active career was president of American Society of Photographers, Rocky Mountain Professional Photographers Association, Southwestern Photographers Association, Professional Photographers of Oklahoma and Panhandle Professional Photographers Association. He was an affiliated jury chairman and photographic print judge and served nationally and internationally in this capacity for many years. He earned over 500 merits for his service to photographic associations and to individuals. He also taught photography classes and gave programs and seminars across the country and internationally. Ed participated in the first Cultural Photographic Exchange with the professional photographers of China and exchanged ideas with Russian professional photographers during his tour to Russia and with Vietnamese professional photographers on his tour to Vietnam. In connection with these tours, he said, "It was truly a great experience to meet the people and see the work of foreign professional photographers." He received the national award from three different professional associations for services to the Professional Photographers of America and to his colleagues. Ed was a member and trustee of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church in Guymon, and held many other offices within the church. He was also a member of the Shriners India Temple of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Scottish Rite of Guthrie, Okla., Guymon Masonic Lodge and Panhandle Shrine Club. As a Rotarian, Ed achieved 41 years of perfect attendance, and attended Rotary meetings in 36 states and 15 foreign countries. He also received Rotary's Paul Harris Fellow Award for his service. He was a board member of Guymon Chamber of Commerce, a member of Guymon Goodwill Ambassadors and was active in all aspects of Guymon community activities. Ed married Marjie McGinnis on Dec. 18, 1944, and to this union was born two sons, Edgar Jay and Randall Louis, and one daughter, Betty Jean. Ed and Marjie recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Family and friends rejoice in the celebration of his life. He will always be remembered for his joyful and infectious laugh, which would light up any room and provided a window to his soul. Ed was full of life and possessed a tireless energy and persistent quest for adventure and exposure to new experiences and ideas. His extensive professional accomplishments and social contributions were exceeded only by his genuine love of involvement with people, and he touched the lives of all who knew him - and especially his family and closest friends - through his laughter and exemplary life. He will also be remembered by all for his $2 bills, his colorful expressions, and for just being fun to be around. He will be sorely missed. "Dismount and fight on foot." Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Felt United Methodist Church in Felt with Kathleen Parsley and Bailey Barkley officiating. Burial will be in Bertrand Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary. Mr. McDaniel was born Sept. 14, 1914, near Bertrand. He married Pattie Rebecca Smith on Sept. 24, 1933, in Clayton, N.M. LOUIS - William John "Bill" Redden, 69, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Clark Chapel of James River Assembly in Ozark. Bill, in his giving nature, gifted his body to science for the betterment of others. Arrangements are by St. Louis Cremation. Mr. Redden was born in Philadelphia on April 9, 1935, to John B. Redden and Alice M. Redden. He was raised in Swainton, N.J. He served in the Air Force and moved to Amarillo in 1955, where he raised his family. Bill was a salesman and retired to Springfield, Mo. He enjoyed racing cars and singing to his family. Bill was a Christian and was so loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Brantley Redden. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 30, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pearlie Marie Hagler Moosberg CENTER - Pearlie Marie Hagler Moosberg, 83, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Center with Tim Perkins officiating. Arrangements were by Mangum Funeral Home. Mrs. Moosberg was born July 10, 1921, in San Augustine County, the daughter of A.E. and Alice Creech Hagler. Pearlie peacefully passed away on Monday in Amarillo surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She married Carl Avriete Moosberg on Nov. 22, 1945, in Center. Pearlie never met a stranger and lived each day of her life by the words of a favorite song, "Brighten the Corner Where You Are." This she truly did, for no matter what physical challenges she might be facing, she always managed to have a bright smile and cheerful word of encouragement for whomever her life touched. There have been scores of her friends and acquaintances who were blessed by her cards and letters over the years. Pearlie was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, beginning with her baptism at age 13, and truly loved the Lord her God with all of her heart and soul and strength. What a joyous reunion she must be experiencing in Heaven with her loved ones who were waiting to welcome her to a blissful eternity with God her Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit, who had been a constant source of strength to her throughout her long and happy life, enriched by an abundance of greatly loved family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; her parents; three brothers, Lee, Ramon, and Truman Hagler; and a sister, Era Hagler. Survivors include a sister, Margie B. Knight of Schertz; three daughters, June Sherman and husband, Tommy, of Lockney, Alice Steele and husband, Ken, of White Deer and Carla Winslow and husband, Donny, of Duncan, Okla.; three grandsons, Zade Winslow of Stillwater, Okla., Rolf Sherman of Lubbock and Greg Steele of White Deer; three granddaughters, Robbie Winslow of Norman, Okla., Sally Steele of White Deer and Leslie Winslow of Duncan; many dearly loved nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends in Center, Greenville, Marianna, Ark., Floydada, Duncan, Pampa and Amarillo.
