Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Marty Hamrick, associate pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Crisler was born in Syracuse, N.Y., to Tom and Lottie Zaring Slocum. They moved to Amarillo more than 50 years ago from Adrian. She worked as the food service supervisor for Amarillo ISD for 13 years. She also served as the "Nutri-Clown." She was currently employed at Sundown Elementary School as the cafeteria manager. She married Courtney Crisler in 1962 at Amarillo. Mrs. Crisler was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her father in 1998 and her mother in 1999. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Courtney Gene Crisler and Kenneth Lee Crisler, both of Amarillo; a sister, Vicki Youngblood and husband, Tim, of Amarillo; a niece, Heather Gaut of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Taylor. Perry Hunsaker of St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Hacker was born in Anna to E.W. and Ada Reed. She married F.M. "Red" Hacker in Bonham on April 1, 1937. She was a licensed vocational nurse and worked as a certified dental assistant. Mrs. Hacker was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a member of the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. She was a loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and a wonderful Christian lady. Mrs. Davis was born June 27, 1926, in Polar, to Leon and Lila Davis. She worked as a telephone operator for Santa Fe Railway for several years. She married Alvin Carder in 1950 and they had four children together. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. In 1967, she married Willie Wilson in Amarillo. They were married 37 years at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1962; three brothers; and four sisters. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Honea was born and raised in Amarillo. He married Carol Seymour in 1968 at Amarillo. He worked as a gunsmith for many years. He was the former owner of K & H Trim Shop. He was a lifetime member of Amarillo Gun Club, and a member of Amarillo Bird dog Club. He loved motorcycles, fly-fishing and trap-shooting. He attended Trinity Fellowship Church, and was a proud "Pa" to 5 beautiful granddaughters, April, Heather, Kayla, Keri, and Kami. He loved God, his family, his bird dogs, and "Pee-Wee." Don gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and is in Heaven. Mrs. Dee was born April 1, 1914, to Leslie Keith Johnson and Jessie Herring Johnson in Vernon. Louise was a granddaughter of C. T. Herring. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1937 with a bachelor of fine arts degree. Mrs. Dee served in the Navy from 1943 to 1944. Louise Dee was the widow of Homer Wessel "Bill" Dee. Louise and Bill were married from 1977 until Bill's death in 1992. Mrs. Dee owned a gift shop in the Herring Hotel for six years. She also taught ballroom dancing lessons at the Gene Galle Studio. Mrs. Dee was a partner for a time in Custom Trophies and The Little Brown House. She was a member of St. Mary's Church at the time of her death. She had served on the Altar Guild and in other activities at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Dee was a member of Junior League of Amarillo and Garden Club. Mrs. Dee was an active supporter of the arts in Amarillo. She was a charter docent of Amarillo Art Center and a supporter of Amarillo Symphony, Lone Star Ballet, and Amarillo Opera. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Cornelia Johnson Slemp; and her husband. Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 5, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Wallace Fields SHAMROCK - John Wallace Fields, 87, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Lowe, pastor, and Joe G. Jernigan officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Lt. Col. Fields was born Oct. 17, 1917, at Ramsdell on the family ranch, near Shamrock, to H.T. Fields and Flora Lee Fields. He graduated from Shamrock High School, starring in football and track, and received a degree in chemistry from Texas Technological College in 1940. He was a three-year track letterman for the Red Raiders under legendary Tech coach Burl Huffman. With war approaching, he joined the Army Air Corps, and received his wings in the class of '41C. He was assigned to the 7th Bombardment Group and, later, the 435th Armed Reconnaissance Squadron of the 19th Bombardment Group, which was equipped with B-17 Flying Fortresses. He was a pilot on the mission, just prior to the fall of the Philippines, to evacuate Philippine President Manuel Quezon and his General Staff. Fields flew a total of 51 combat missions in the Pacific, later serving as director of operations at Lincoln, Neb., and Topeka, Kan., where he flew such aircraft as the B-25 Mitchell, A-26 Invader, B-26 Marauder, B-24 Liberator, B-29 Superfortress and B-32 Dominator. He was discharged in 1945 as a major and recalled to active duty as a lieutenant colonel in 1951 during the Korean War, serving in England as deputy base commander at RAF Mildenhall. Fields received the Distinguished Flying Cross with oak-leaf cluster, Presidential Unit Citation with five oak-leaf clusters, World War II Victory Medal and American Defense Medal. He was inducted into the Panhandle Veterans Hall of Fame in 1998 and into the American Combat Airman Hall of Fame of the Commemorative Air Force in October 2004. Following World War II, he was a consignee for Magnolia Petroleum Co., later Mobil Oil Corp. in Shamrock for many years, and was devoted to raising Polled Hereford Cattle. He was an avid hunter, passing on a respect for wildlife and the good husbandry of livestock and land to his family. He loved bird dogs and retrievers and was an accomplished horseman. He served in many leadership roles in Shamrock. He was president of Shamrock School Board, president of DeShazo-George American Legion Post No. 68, and board of directors of the South Wheeler County Hospital District. He was a charter member of Shamrock Country Club, Shamrock Boosters Club and Shamrock Sheriff's Posse. He was president of the Wheeler County Appraisal District Board and was the Wheeler County veterans service officer for many years. He was a loving and much-loved husband, father and grandfather, and a Panhandle pioneer in his own right, who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a beloved sister, Alma Lee Stevens. Survivors include his wife, Cecile; a son, Ken Fields and wife, Carol, of Pampa; a daughter, Cindy Casey and husband, John, of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Katherine Elaine Devoll, Sarah Elizabeth Bauman, Mary Grace Fields, Justin Casey and Shelby Casey; and two great-grandchildren, Jaycee Ruth Devoll and Elizabeth Grace Devoll. Mrs. Hodges was born May 2, 1916, in Wheeler County to Ernest Massey and Pearl Mae Erskine, the oldest of nine children. At the age of 15, her mother died, and she helped daddy raise the remaining children. She married George Arthur Hodges in Shamrock on June 4, 1938. She was a homemaker. They lived in Wheeler County and Canadian until moving to Dumas in 1951, where he began a long career with Phillips Petroleum. They loved the outdoors and were avid rock collectors. She loved working in her yard and tending her plants indoors. She was a wonderful cook and her family looked forward to family dinners and holiday dinners. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters; and two brothers. Mr. Zinser was born Sept. 8, 1921, in Wichita Falls, the son of Katherine and Frank Zinser Sr. He married Margaret Ohlig on April 7, 1947, in Hereford. Mr. Zinser was a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, serving as a bombardier with the 546th Squadron of the 384th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force in England. He fought in Northern France, Rhineland and the Ardennes battles and received the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, European- African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with three Bronze Service Stars and one Overseas Bar. Upon his discharge, Mr. Zinser moved back to Hereford where he farmed. He served on the board of directors of the Deaf Smith County Appraisal District, served as a board member of the Hereford Regional Medical Center for more than 16 years, was a member of the Nuclear Waste Deposit Impact Committee, served on numerous farm related boards, was a member of Hereford Senior Citizens and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter and a sister.
